and a special thanks to xMrCastoox for subbing in for Parcells qualifying attempt to secure a spot in the top room, well done indeed and lucky, I watched it.
Now that the Seat Series wrapped up in Germany, the GGG Motorsports team headed to Tsukuba to get some practice in the Clio in preparation for the upcoming season. All six drivers were at the track and it was a great time bringing the team together for some good fun and get some laps in the car. The session was a closed event so that we could minimize the distractions (due to all the beautiful women around the track) and focus on setup and tire wear, or so we thought.
During the midway point of the session, we noticed a strange sight as there was this German looking guy in a sumo wrestler attire in the stands with a pair of binoculars and a headset. Upon closer look, it appeared to be JDankert of JDRT had successful got past the track security (such a Mickey Mouse group of guys) and was looking in on the test session. When GrimGrnninGhost was asked about the situation after the test session, “Not sure why JDan went to so much trouble trying to get in? Although the event was closed, all fellow drivers and teams are always welcome to join in any test session we may have going on”. After the event the team was spotted in the pub having a few drinks to try and get the vision of JDan as a Sumo Wrestler out of their heads. Jdan joined the team (after changing back to his driver suit) for a few laps and some drinks. Unfortunately, GrimGrnninGhost had to leave early and catch a flight back to the States as he gets ready to host the opening races for the IROC series (Monday).
All in all, the test session was a great chance to continue to work on the cars and shift our focus on the new series.
Reporting in with new qualification time. No change in position but I wanted to be part of sub 1:34 club. If you can't beat 'em with natural talent, do it with persistence and perseverence.
As Stevie planned on this starting this week and I messed the dates up there will be a full race shakedown this Sunday at 8:00pm BST. I will post current room placements tonight. Grim can you hosts room B chap?
Over the last weeks in hours of talking and negotiations team owner JDANKERT made a next step for JDRT. The costs had risen extremely fast and high in the last weeks, because the team grew up to 4 regulary drivers , 1 guest driver and JDANKERT’s own driver seat and JDRT had decided to take part in more than one big series.
Especially the international series - SLSC and Clio Cup - are expensive, because the travelling to Asia and the States, the delivering of cars, spare parts and needed personal and equipment costs …… many Euro’s. On the other side - the incoming money - the team is in an phase of investment, to built up and to become a brand, which is the base for investors to join “the party”.
JDANKERT: “I had never believed, that this whole thing - founding, owning and building a racing team - would be so challenging, fast and …… overwhelming. For now I am happy, that we made this before starting the Clio Cup.”
Travel and logistic problems solved
With Lufthansa JDRT now has one of the biggest airlines as partner. All transportation now will be organized with Lufthansa Cargo AG and the travelling with Lufthansa AG - nonstop you -. Dr. Christoph Franz - Chairman of the Executive Board & Chief Executive Officer of the Lufthansa Group - is an industrial engineer and liked the idea from the first moment to support a racing team, who is competing successful in international series and races.
Dr. Franz: “It is a first for us, but a sponsor activity which I wanted to try. The signed contract is a compromise for both sides and, because such a deal is new for us, we decided not to make a long term agreement. We will support JDRT in 2013 and talk again in December for a new contract.”
JDANKERT: “The planning and booking of flights was an extremely sophisticated office process. Now we have a definite partner, which means that one employer can now handle this task. And not two or three and sometimes even myself.”
Lufthansa does not want a placement of the brand onto the racecars, but in other areas the partnership will be visible. JDANKERT: “I like that, because in some series it would be a problem to place all sponsors due to the racing series and right owners, who want own brand placements on the cars.”
Staff problems solved
JDANKERT: “Another big issue for us was, to get the right people to the right job. 4 up to 6 drivers at one event, that’s a very big team in the background: Race engineers, pit crews (mechanics and specialists), computer team, catering,….. I can tell you, I never had so much personnel responsibility in my whole career.”
It showed, that the recruiting was a real challenge for JDRT, so JDANKERT was surprised and happy, that an old contact phoned him and offered a solution, which at that time wasn’t even thought about. Now Brunel is partner from JDRT.
Brunel - access to excellence - is an authority on national and international recruitment, have the ability to identify developments early, and quickly help customers benefit from such developments. JDANKERT: “Especially in recruiting technical staff Brunel has strengths.”
Partner for finances
JDANKERT: “To manage all financial transactions we needed a competent, strong and motivated partner. With the GLS Bank we have found it. What impressed us most is: “The Bank focuses on cultural, social and ecological projects which try to tackle challenges in our society by developing creative solutions.” That was an unbeatable argument for choosing this partner. With our efforts to find a biofuel partner and to organize an e-racingcar-championship we share same goals.”
Administrative and organizational tasks
For now many administrative and organizational tasks are solved or to be precise JDRT is prepared for the next challenges. Following the slogan “reach for more” the whole company and team is despite all stress, hectic and inexperience on a very, very good way.
JDANKERT “We are young and we are hungry! Sure there is a lot to do, but now I am able to concentrate again on all motorsport aspects. Such as technical equipment and development, and also to help my drivers to become better in marketing and in racing. I have clear conception of a professional racer and I know Church, Mapo, Knight, Antz and Stevie will be surprised how much support this team will gift to them!”
this is coming round really fast now...............no prep .............no tune..................Max, can you spare a tune please?can you leave it unlocked as I may need to tweek a bit , but we are not far off each other normally. Thanks in advance
“What is that for a absolutely fantastic result for the young JDRT team?”, JDANKERT said in his office in Surrey, UK. “Silver, Silver, Bronze, Bronze and Top Ten places. Wow. I had never expected that, as I started this team. I am proud of my drivers and of myself, because my driver lineup is superb!”
As known JDANKERT had started JDRT alone, signed MapoUK at April 3rd and one day after that ChurchPro joined as regulary driver and Knight as guest driver. April 10th Antz was hired and finally Steviegers joined at April 23rd.
“All my drivers are strong personalities and fair sportsmen. It is so much fun to work with them. And now this result. Great.”
Clio Cup
Asked about his expectations for the Clio Cup JDANKERT answered: “For sure we will be a strong team, but as we all know we are not favourites. Pistonheads, if they stay together, and few other ones are very strong and competitive. Time will tell, but our goals are defined:
Team: Top Three
Room A: ChurchPro: Top Three
Room A: Steviegers: Top Five
Room A: MapoUK: Top Ten
Room B: Antz: Top Five (If he will be able to race this series)
Room B: JDANKERT: Top Ten
I know, that this is ambitious, but I believe in us. Sure is, that the new teams will attack the established ones. Interesting will be the competition between the European gentlemen racers and those hungry US guys. I think there will be many battles on the track and this series will be an livestream highlight for the public viewers.”
JDRT future
JDRT was able to sign new sponsors, who will be announced in june. “We are developing financially and therefore we have more opportunities. I hope, that there will be some great events to come, in which JDRT can demonstrate their skills. For me personally it would be great fun to race in an 2.4 Le Mans event or in an endurance race at Silverstone or at The Ring. A wish from me is also at GT series. In my garage are two Audi R8 and one BMW Z4 waiting.
One another point has to be discussed in our team. I don’t want to have more drivers, because 4 are enough responsibility. But I also want to help young drivers. So there is an idea to found a “junior team”. It is not decided, but if young drivers would contact me or my drivers via personal mail, so that the discretion is secured, that would help us in building up such a team.”
Need a tune from some kind person. Pref a wheel user. Have not built one of these.
Parcells may not be the kindest person but I'll be sending a buddy of mine a tune before todays practise event (after I tweak the tune I have) so I'll send it your way too Poids. You'll have it a minumum of 30 minutes prior to race time if not sooner.
I can't argue that logic. You're welcome Captain.
and a special thanks to xMrCastoox for subbing in for Parcells qualifying attempt to secure a spot in the top room, well done indeed and lucky, I watched it.
I'll put a time in before the deadline next Sunday.
Thanks for the lap time Amber!
Need a time from the following:
I would be happy to host the B room
Cheers Grim your a star!
What Club are you in btw?

Great update up JDan, your team is looking strong. I know more about your team than team Pistonheads.
Especially your ambitions for Church, goodness gracious man.
Just for Parcells, team PistonHeads show up, we race then we go home.
Parcells knows the flexible expectations thats why I love this team! I was just pulling your chains Boss.
But that reminds me, I haven't tried the car yet, did you send me a paint already? No worries we got a week.
