I stopped by a couple of nights ago to check it out. Pretty crazy. Do we have to find another desert now, or is there some sand left? :) I was wondering about the lava too.

Ambient lighting, and it kinda helps keep the hostiles down at night when you're returning later than you should. I suppose if I put the tracks up in the air, it wouldn't be as important. Eventually that'll be a 1k run, eventually.

The first hill at the end of the tracks is rapidly disappearing...laugh

How did you guys get those portals to work correctly so close together?  I just made one for myself southeast of the sky xp farm.  My overworld portal links to the sky xp farm nether portal, but when you go back into the xp farm nether portal you arrive at the xp farm.

Luckily that xp farm portal link isn't broken, but its a pain to run 15 minutes to get back to my house.

Fig did it and I'm not quite sure how. I think the secret is you have to make two portals, not just one? Beyond that, it's pure voodoo to me.

You have to get the exact x and z coordinates of your overworld portal. You divide that those numbers by 8 and then place another portal in the nether at the coordinated you just calculated. Activate them both and then go through the one in the nether and you should come out the one by your house or whereever you placed to one in the overworld.

Is it a case of it has to be exact, OR does it just shunt you to the closest one? Exact is nice, but close as possible works for me IF it's accurate.

Thanks for the information Fig, it had me confused.

BTW, I've discovered carpet, dye and ..........sheep. I have one of every color in the corral I think, except black. On the lookout for a black one to lure back to the farm...

Carpeted the bedroom in Gator colors Baybeeeee! laugh

And no I didn't carpet the "dome" just the walk ways...

Just a request... Anyone who uses the mob farm would you mind donating some iron for replacement anvils? It looks like to one I placed is getting worn out pretty quickly. I could also use a little extra for the re-design of the storage system. You can just place it in the chest nearest to the portal. Also, feel free to take the any mob resources you may need. Thanks.

Sure, no problem.  :)

Was it noticable that a creeper blew it up this morning?  I think I put it back together the same way it was.   :?

dropped a stack in the chest for you already from before. I combined some of the worn out items since your chest were a little full. Does anybody know a good site to get some build plans off of?

Most mob drops are low level enchants and between the anvil actually wearing when you use it and the ease of obtaining levels with the grinder, unless you actually create an absolutely awesome weapon/tool with exactly what you want on it, it's easier and cheaper to just make anew one than repair the old stuff.

Oh, bear in mind that enchanting in the next update is going to change quite radically in cost. EXP used will drop dramatically, and every enchant will now require one piece of lapis ( added a box specifically for it) when the enchanter table UI opens. I think the repairing is changing as well, however I didn't pay much attention to it as I don't really repair now, I probably should have. cheeky

Also, many new blocks coming out, a bunch of new "stone" types, and the ability to use slimeballs to make a "slime block". Think trampoline...I know I'll be using these for a quick way down instead of ladders n such. You'll still have to climb up but, downs gonna get a lot quicker.Well, maybe not if you factor in all the bouncing, but the fun's gonna ratchet up a notch (pun?).

I thought soemthing might have happened. There were some torches missing. I placed two extra steps there so you can't get close enough for them to see you now. Hopefully that will solve the problem.

Is this from before when I was on, or is this new? I can restart the server again.

I use the MINECRAFT WIKI  and then I have three or 4 you tube channels I subscribed to that are concentrated on simply building stuff. one or two are redstone builds, one guys does structures, and one I just acquired, seems to do both AND gives out info/examples of new updates off the snapshots before they go live.

Oh, the MINECRAFT WIKI has someone doing informative you tubes on specific items, sort of a you tube wiki itself, usually linked towards the bottom of a specific item, like carpets, or redstone even. They are simple and are usually linked to two more at the end of each so as you can keep on going if you like.

But they're all on my home puter...I'll post 'em later. One's a Aussie kid goes by MRcrayfish, his builds are simple and easy to follow, another guy goes by SCAR, and he's kinda mellow ( read Mr. Rogers) but his build/desgn of buildings/structures is pretty damn good,

I'd say a few minutes looking around you tube will find you alot of stuff. Just find ones that are relaxed and explain their stuff well.

I found a guy that did a killer medival castle door but he musta been charged by the minute as the whole thing was explained in like 6 minutes and my boy and I got frustrated simply trying to keep up with him (using the pause button no less) and we kicked him to the curb.

Is anyone up for repopulating the village with villagers?  I'm still not sure why they died out? And I've never done it before. Can any zombie be cured, or dothey have to have the testificate face?

The stuff that can be had for trading is really valuable. I have a village on single player with 4 golems, so that's 50+ villagers I think, and the stuff available is awesome. The real trick is to find villagers that take easy stuff and give the emeralds, like wheat/fish! laugh

I guess this would first involve getting some blaze rods for brewstand.

Totally unrelated, saw a Pigman youth, complete with baby sword yesterday.

I've repoplated villages before.  It does have to be a "villager" zombie AND you need two so they repopulate the village.  Hard part is finding them and keeping them alive.  I can help you tonight or someother time if you want.  Anyone got any blaze rods yet?

I think it only resets when I do it at the server site. I just got home from work, so I haven't messed with it all day.

For the large wall map, do you have to activate each new map at the exact center of the are to be shown?  Or will the maps adjust themselves and not overlap?

The lower right hand map I had to redo, as it was not far enough to the right. That said, I think you have to be "close" to the center and it readjusts. How close, I don't know. I doubt i hit the exact center 5 out of 6 times. I'm just not that lucky. Or that good come to think about it.

Those maps are expanded one time, as in, basic map is a compass and 8 pieces of papaer, first expansion is the basic map and another 8 pieces of paper surrounding it. The second expansion I find too damn big to be of use as the detail really tanks.

Anyone is welcome to add to the wall if the wish, it's on the tower next to the sheep corral.

Also, there is some way to "clone" maps, haven't looked into that much yet.

Take a blank unused map and map to be copied and put them both on crafting table.

Have started , after some inspiration from Dirty, and the realization I never ride my damn horse, to build a barn outside the compound.

And I've gone about it a bit different than in the past, and maybe you guys already do this, but hey, I'll catch up eventually.

I started in EXCEL and laid out hat I was after, minimized it up on the corner of the screen and then adjusted my game screen to accommodate both at once, and had a "blueprint" to go by as I laid out the foundation. As I said, maybe you guys already do this, but I've not seen anyone do this, or even talk about it in vids. I've got to say, it's a great way to see where you're going before you start, and makes it a lot easier to set up in game.

I started by setting all cells to about 16 pixels, used the all border button on everything, and then set it up further by doing 4x4 squares with the thick box border. This way I can do a side shot of a step, for example, and see the profile exactly as in game. This done by coloring in the 16x16's with the fill color button to show where blocks are placed. And you can use colors to indicate which blocks where.

Again, maybe this is common sense and everyone's been doing it, but it's a "wow" moment for me. If this doesn't make sense I'll try to get a screen shot up later to day.

What this process doesn't do is assue that you have enough blocks to finish up. I' got about half done and ran out of blocks, so there's a half built barn outside the front door of the compound. Going to have to mine some more clay and nether quartz. Maybe some more red flowers.

Has anyone else noticed there's no way to use fencing and get your horse in and out as the gates are too narrow? Grr....

Also intend to move the livestock outside to quiet down the compound a bit. AND free up more room  to build!
