all halo players
This question goes out to players of all skill levels. If you wanted to know more about halo gameplay strats maps gametypes what would you want to know more about. Im looking for some ideas and direction for something we have in the works. Sound off with what you wanna see
Universal callouts. That is all.
Call outs...but call outs that make sense. If that makes sense?
So, callouts. Got it.
I've taken to naming a few things in Haven after some spawns. There's Red and Blue spawn, if you want to go that route, or even open and closed side, but I've been calling the big ramp, the main ramp, the opposing side "mohawk", and the side that's right of the main rap (facing mohawk) the sticky side, because the sticky launcher spawns there at the beginning. The other side? I dunno yet.
MLG has pretty good callouts for Haven. The other maps really need some callouts. I was playing on Solace and I know one side is covered in moss and ivy and the other has no vegitation. Solace also has six lanes like a bowling alley it maybe a good idea to call the lanes lane1 through lane6. Bottom Solice I really don't know much about because I only go down there except for the cannon.
Everything you've figured out so far ..pick a map and start showing us from there
if there has been any kind of consistency to weapon spawns AFTER the original spawn. it used to be so simple watching the clock for the respawn of weapons. is it still there? are times consistent?
after playing with a decent group the other night, i see some good areas to hold on two or three maps. i would like to know some for more maps.
oh, and some call outs. i think some other people are interested in that as well.
This one's a little easier. It's called "stop playing Infinity Slayer and BTB".
Don't all the playlists have random weapons spawns after the first set. Are the spawn times random too or do the weapons drop every 3 min?
I'm honestly not sure yet. I know Binary Rifle drops in a similar spot on Haven as the Sticky Launcher, though. I need to see if it happens at the same time, though.
Haven is my favorite map of the bunch, but man is there a lot of fluidity to these maps. If you're not moving around Haven with at least one other person, you better know you're catching the other side off guard, or else you're going to get smoked.
but infinity slayer is fun! At least for some noobs like me.
To answer OP, since I am a noob - I would love defensive strafing/jumping example - perhaps with video of controller while doing it? Most people go side to side like me. There are some really good people that do some kind of circular jig. These latter people own me. I know it's probably something simple and basic, but you asked for question from people of all skill types. ;)
Never justify yourself to Dixon. He hates fun and exciting things. His favorite ice cream is vanilla.
The best part about vanilla ice cream is when you cover it with chocolate syrup
You kind of just answered your own question. Move the controller around so you're avoiding shots. Diagonals work nicely.
It seems to me, with my limited playtime, that the weapons have set locations they can spawn and with a range of time, or not at all.
For example, on Abandon there is a pretty good chance that rockets will spawn after a while into a match. In my experience, they always spawn just in front of the opening to the lift at the bottom of the central tower. However, they do not spawn every match I believe, and it seems to be that if they do, when they spawn varies as well. But IF they do spawn that is where they will be.
Just got done playing one where the Incineration Cannon spawned again on Solace, on one side of the map, just under the balcony. That's a crazy good "accident" to be having and a horrible one if it happens on the other team.
Yes and no. Some maps, like Valhalla, will have the opening weapon spawns (snipers inside bases and laser on top hill). After that, laser spawns in different locations and only snipers spawn in the same place. They are on a timer, however, it's not pinpoint like in previous halos, rather, they will spawn within a certain time limit randomly. For example:
Sniper spawn #1 - at beginning of game
Sniper spawn #2 - 180s-300s
It could spawn at exactly after 3 minutes, exactly at the 5 minute mark, or anywhere in between.
I haven't really looked into the weapon spawning that much, but I do notice that you typically have the same weapons spawning in the same area at the beginning of the game and random locations thereafter at random times.
I'd like to hear or read some in depth strategies for the armor abilities. Which ones to use in which gametypes and situations, the strengths and weaknesses of each, and I think some people would find a bit that shows when each is available for unlock to be helpful to in the same guide.
Armor abilities have changed quite a bit since Reach, for the ones that stayed, and there are several new ones.
Edit: Perhaps there could be a bit on the issues with each. I've read, and not just from Laser, that active camo has a bug where it doesn't decloak properly when it should all the time. I've also experienced an issue with Regeneration Field where it not only doesn't recover shields at all, but may even prevent you from gaining shields while inside it. Things like that so people can know what to watch out for.
This is kinda obvious stuf, but here is what I noticed on the 4v4 maps:
At least for slayer, same weapons spawn in the same spots at the start of every game. Needles, Sticky, Scatter always on Haven. Needles is always right of red spawn, sticky left, etc. I think I typed up a list in another thread here.
During the match, I think the weapons spawn on a clock I.e. at a set time (but I haven't time it myself), but it will be a random weapon in a different spot. But certain weapons will only spawn in certain spots (at least I think). E.g. - There are 4 possible places for Rockets to spawn on Complex, and at least 3 for the Railgun, but Rails won't spawn in the Rocket spots, and vice versa. The only spawn weapons that I ban think of off the top of my head are: rockets, human sniper, rail gun, sword, saw, needles and incenerator.
Grenades always spawn in the exact same spots on every map, and seem to be on a set refresh time. (It's about every 2-3 deaths for me ;) ). Stickies and Pulse grenades spawn right next to each other on Haven. So, if you have grenadier + spawn with Frags, + stickies + pulse pickup = 7 grenades. My build has grenadier + explosives on this map.
I just hit 50, and I chose the Engineer specialization, which is supposed to give you "a few seconds" advanced notice of weapon drops during matches. We will see how it works. After I sobered up and slept, I wish I had chosen Rogue. But oh well.
im typing on an iPad and autocorrect sucks. Always changes needler to needles... I'm not fixing it because fixing typos on this thing are a pain. Sorry for the wonky language.
Edit:
I wonder if we download the latest matchmaking version of a map from the recent files menu, and take it into forge, if we could get at all the timers and such there?
great idea. Certainly worth a shot!
Yeah, that was going to be the plan. I assume all that information should be hard coded into Forge.
Probably best to grab the latest version of the matchmade gametype too I suppose.
Callouts
Don't you mean crouching call outs?
Probably would involve some grunting...
and maybe some other inappropriate noises...
