Boo yeah!
Let's play some Halo...
a bit oldschool, but that's what I do...
Anxiously waiting on early returns. Being the social misfit that I am, I really hope large parties become stable especially in customs.
Mike, Free and I played last night and it WORKED!. Felt like 2004 all over again:)
Yup, I'm playing Halo all the time. I'll start spamming peeps.
Please report back when you get 8v8 customs going. That I'm interested in knowing about.
OMG! I'm excited! I may be able to get some games in this week! WOOHOO!!
First one to teamkill Medic wins!
Ok, can I get a few friend invites? I'm gonna try this. May need some tutoring ( free target!)
Who's Medic and what's the bounty up to?
We managed to have fun customs (3v3) in spite of all the remaining issues of this broken piece of shit.
Game chat is still as broken as before. Lobby chat worked at first but totally dropped in game and then in the lobby.
Forced to use Live chat but that creates a whole shit load of headaches if you're setting up teams.
H2A has piss poor shot detection and the sound was pathetic. Hated it.
H3 seemed to function pretty good. Had to up the movement speed to 125% just to feel like we were in the 21st century.
H4 is the best feeling for me but I think the audio was kind of muted or something.
Forget about playing with large chatty groups over 8. It would be an exercise from hell.
Nobody seemed to be able to join in an actuve game. Not sure about that.
Party stayed together but teams got randomly switched up at times.
Weird. I feel like H2A has the best shot registration in any Halo game so far.
My friend and I used game chat for the first game, but by the second game it had stopped working and we had to switch to party chat. :-( It doesn't seem like voice chat should be that hard of a problem to solve.
I also couldn't believe how fast the movement felt in H2 and H2A after getting used to Destiny's shitty cramped field of view. Destiny feels like it must be less than 40 degrees or something. It's like playing through binoculars.
Well it works fine for me, I just need to play with others after getting owned in H3 one flag. :(
It's the big 8v8 games we enjoyed so much in the past that are going to be difficult to manage.
Still, Halo sucks and will not be a big draw again until H5.
People should just give this pony a rest.
The pony is dead it can't rest.
Pony's bite, anyway. So I'm guessing Tuesday over 50 is still H4 360?
I have been having fun in smaller parties. I enjoy all the Halo games except Halo C.E. Halo 4 feels like it works the bests of all of the games.
I do agree with Deep that until Halo 5 there isn't much of a use for Halo MCC for the community customs. Although I do think that the Xbox One functions and how they work for chat and other stuff doesn't help.
I need to try some MCC this week.
South park, Scott Tinerman must die: "No, Pony! He'll like that!"
I am in agreeance that this game is now fuctioning to a level I would call working. but there are still a great many flaws. my only hope is that now that people can reliably play it, they can gather enough information to decide best how to fix the rest of it. I was able to play this most of the day saturday with no reboots. thats far and away better than previous. We even had a few Big Team Games. seemed to work OK. Peer to Peer lag was in and out, but noticeable as hell when it happened.
I'll be on tonight. We'll see how it goes
When I played the other night, we got two games of CE in Big Team. TS on Blood Gulch and CTF on Sidewinder (not the best gametype... ended in a 0-0 tie because the bases are so bottlenecked). I was pleasantly surprised that the netcode was actually playable for both games. Shots registered consistently. Only a normal amount of leading was needed. I was even able to snipe gunners out of moving warthogs, so that should tell you how smooth the hit detection was (sniping people out of hogs was nearly impossible on Halo PC's godawful netcode since you had to lead by about 2 warthog lengths).
Worked fairly well last night. Still seems to have a problem migrating host (changing party leader) and then picking up new people in that party. causes reboots. and you still cannpt jouin a custom game in progress it causes reboots too. Gameplay aside from that is much more enjoyable. Fire up an Xbox live party because voice chat doen't work well, I'll see ya'll on.
Put my little toe in the water last night and played a little H3 campaign. Seemed to work much like the original. At some point I may be interested in some MM and customs, at least until Wolf Among us drops. Problem with customs even after the patch is chat. Attempts so far have been limited to rooms of 6 or 8 because game (and lobby) chat just does not work and the only way to communicate is thru XBL party chat. I agree with Mike in the positive view -- if the community can ramp up, then developers can log enough information to identify and fix the ongoing problems. Not holding my breath though. 4 months in and still major social problems with the game.
Well I'm on most nights if anyone wants to play. I'm one of the few here that has played matchmaking since launch. I'd like to get into some BTB but will play anything. I am partial to Halo 2 and 3 but will play whatever if the group wants.I saw a few people on last night but it looked like you had a party of 4 going in MM. Anyways if you see me on in the PM hit me up. I deal with house and kids during the day evening mostly. If I'm not on you FL send me a request.
In Destiny, game chat rarely works due to differing NAT types. We always use Party chat which still has issues but is more consistent. Maybe it is time to try MCC again.
DIng Ding Ding Ding! Give this man a prize.
<rant>
It's all about the NAT with voice chat. Halo MCC only catylizes this problem when it migrates the individuals of a party all separately back to the lobby. Voicechat craps, all it takes is one strict NAT type in the bunch to cause the game to not sort out who belongs to which voice channel, something that is set at party initialization. Seting up an xboxlive party helps but only by giving the Xbox Non game protocols with wich to sort out the voice. This has it's limitations as well based on how many people and what their NAT types all are. This doesn't even scratch the surface of having open Nat types but more than one Xboxone connected to a network and also in the same party at the same time causing similar issues that are veiled because you assume everything is good because your NAT type is open but packet loss is intermittantly high due to port setting issues UPNP be damned. Don't trust your XBONE internet check settings they lie. but this is all covered by the "online interactions may differ..." part of the end user agreement.
