I suspect the game chat issues have something to do with the Xbox One. I don't remember games having nearrly this many chat connectivity problems on the 360, and now on the Xbox One, multiple games by multiple developers have the same problems with chat. Not surprising, since the Xbox One seems like a piece of shit in general.
Party chat is pretty consistent in Destiny. We started using it to communicate with players not yet on the fireteam or in another game. Beats messaging. Regular game chat as mentioned above is iffy.
I think the NAT issues are common on the PS4 too, according to a few things I've read. NAT was always a problen in Halo 360 but to a lesser extent. Bungie has improved NAT managemnt for Destiny but problems still exist.
I'm confident it'll be mostly sorted out down the road but it doesn't help us witth MCC right now.
I need voice to play with my friends. Otherwise, I might as well solo in MM.
There were a few issues here and there with game chat on the 360, but it worked like 95% of the time. The Xbox One has reversed that percentage. I don't know what they did to screw it up, but it seems like a huge step backward in reliability.
Not intending to defend MS or 343 in any way, but I wonder if part of the problem is the insane number of router brands out there. Portforward.com's screenshot database lists 293! Are MS and 343 mistakenly assuming a kind of order and standardization that doesn't exist as yet?

There were lots of routers on the market a year ago when we were all on the 360 with hardly any problems, so the blame probably still goes to Microsoft on this one.
For those who are iterested.....ZOMBIE..... I will be hosting a HaloMCC room tonight starting around 8 central.
Because of Xbox Live party size Cap, the room will be full at 8 members. We will play matchmaking of a type suitable to party size unles somebody's got Forged maps already (which I doubt).
I tried joining the game and party but you had gone into mm. Turned on another game and ....
You're right about the forged maps. I tried out H2A and didn't like the looks of the objects at all. H3's lighting in Sandbox was non-existant. Too bad 343i didn't include a porting tool.
Looked to join as well around 10:30 but looked like you guys were full and in MM. Actually doesn't matter whether party is in MM or Customs. Can't join while party is in game in either.

you never could. Except H4.
I don't remember it that way. I thought it was possible in H3 and definitely in Reach.
I agree. The ony reason one could not join customs in Reach was if the party leader set the party to invite only. I also believe H3 was that way as well but am not sure. Even so, that code should have been carried over to MCC. Nothing more irritating than seeing friends in a custom game and having to wait x number of minutes to get in the party while they are active in a game or worse having them end the game so that you can join the party.
I know for sure you could join custom games in progress in H3 because there were times I was playing the 1v1 gametype Octagon with someone and forgot to set the party to invite only, and people would join and mess up the game.

I've heard Skype works very well. I don't have a kinect so I don't know if that makes a difference.

What's a GNAT?

Even the Party chat last night was wonky. The game chat wasn't working either but the Xbox Live parties would only connect half the party together.

In any case, it's more annoying now.

It's a social disaster for traditional Halo communities.

sorry I missed the customs part.
