Didnt want to start a new thread so I'm hijacking GGG! Spent the afternoon building this in prep for the fanatec bundle thats suppose to be arriving Tuesday. Rough now, cant complete steering wheel deck until it arrives. Starting some paint tommorrow. Not sure what but the insides and frame will be black to hide some of the rougher areas. Anyways...
Will post more after paint. Total cost thus far....Zero.
I went to Lowes and purchased some sample size paints for about three bucks and 2 dollar paint brushes. Two different sizes one about 2 to 3 inches wide and one about 1 to 2 inches wide.. I would also recommend some painters tape not too wide so if you want some curves you can easily manipulate.
Lol! Got all the supplies.. Painted some shit in my day. Just dont know how I want to paint it. I'm leaning to flames right now but idk. Also looking for a good 2old4forza logo to paint and of course I'll have my race number from here. Long live E7!
I got too anxious to wait on buying supplies to build a new stand. I just ended up drilling holes into my existing table that I've been using for my MS wheel. I am absolutely in love with the new wheel though. There is no comparison to the old MS wheel, or anything else for that matter.
I'll post pics later, not real happy with the stand but OMFZINGGERD!!! Fanatec is AWESOME! Didnt have internet last night but rushed to get it together and run some laps. Seemed every lap i did was cutting seconds off. So nice to feather the gas and not anchor the breaks... Feeling the rumble strips. This shit is DA BOMB! Im glad i cave d to peer pressure, so worth every penny i spent!
Here is my settings and it works for me. If you have the CSR wheel, be sure to update it to the latest firmware. This will also give you the ACL (auto clutch feature)
Sen = Off FF = 80 Sho = 90 Dri - Off Abs - 75 Lin = 10 Dea = 000 Spr = 0 Dpr = -3 ACL = on
Agin, this works for me and may not work for others
I know this is an old topic however, "the wife" has given the green light to build a new rig which Im happy to announce will not feature the "Ghetto Rig" brand.
Lets look back at my first rig, the Ghetto Rig 2000. The sad thing is even my Beagle thinks that it's so ghetto that she's ashamed to even look at it!
The came the Ghetto Rig 3000XLT Turbo which is still being used to this day with no issues.
The newest addition will be completly self contained rig which will support include a PS3 and a soon to be refurbished 360 along with a dedicated 32 or 38 inch tv. The plans are from Ricmotech which will be slightly modified for my setup. The first step in the process was finding the right seat and after many days looking for one, I came accross this on craiglist that will be perfect for my plans in the price range I was willing to pay.
If everything goes as planned this weekend, I should have the base built. I'll post pictures as I go along however looking at Ink's rig, it has really inspired me.
If theres anything I can do to help let me know. I can send close ups of my rig for ideas or even send you blue prints of my rig . I don't have blue prints as I just built it with different ideas in my head. I can draw them for you if you need them. My first piece of advice is find a spot where you would move the rig when not being used measure that area and that would be your starting point on how big or small you can go with it. Remember it not has to be fun for you but ascetically pleasing to the misses. Anyway good luck !
Area is not an issue as the rig will be in my office so Im good there. I have a good idea for the rig itself but would love to see a few more close up pics of the left side of your rig where you have your shifter and other items.
Started reading what I thought was a new topic, get through the first few posts and start thinking “this rig looks awfully familiar to the rig Grimm built about a year ago, how is this an upgrade?” before I realized what was going on and that the memorable Ghetto Rig 3000 XLT Turbo will soon be put to rest. Hope it turns out well Grimm. Parcells is more excited about what the name of the new rig will be, you’ve set these standards pretty high.
Parcells has also been considering a new race rig but it will come in the form of if and when I replace my current dining table set I’ll have a new chair to sit on. Not as glamorous as some but we’re Canadian.
Dont diss someone from upper management lol was clearly a joke! Tip #4: Check the Joined Date before opening head! Jason and I were buds before 2o4f even started, what 7,8 years. You get bent outta shape over nothing often?

Thats one way to look at it...I feel sorry for Zombie!
It is too bad that this is an old thread, got excited that my old nemesis was coming back! Some of my most epic duels were with JCotter13,and Sarcasmo Jones. But alas...
Progress on the new rig is picking up and getting close for initial testing
As stated above, this is a Ricmotech RS1 rig that I will be modifying along the way. The nice thing about this are that the plans are a great starting point as are the templates.
Various Templates
Base and side panels - First modification to the plans was to use 2x6 runners vice 2x4 to left it an additional 2 inches off the ground (base will also sit in rolling casters)
Seat gets mounted - Second modification to the plans was to lower the seat into the base rather than mounting on top of the base. The seat came from a Jeep and would have been too vertical.
Front the front
From the side
Power distribution panel, monitor deck and wheel deck (still to be adjusted)
Tomorrow should have the wheel and pedals mounted and ready for some testing :)
Looks awesome grim! I was getting ready to build the rimcotech rig as well, any chance if the plans are still intact you could send them to me? I was gonna purchase them this week to start the build in April when I have some free time.
My god I hope those pics were taken awhile ago cuz I don't see any snow but green grass. Did you start building that last autumn or what? If those are recent Grimm, I hate you!
Brnt, that was actually Friday. Upper 50's and sunny. Great day to work outside. If it makes you feel any better, today we got 1" of snow and low 30's. Go figure!
As for the rig, Its still in rough form but its inside the house and ready for some testing Had to make some significant adjustments already but I think the seat, wheel and pedals are in place. Will leave it as it is for the next couple weeks to break it in and see how it goes. I'll get a pic up later tomorrow.

Also, any imput on paints is greatly appreciated. Going with an Orange base, with some purple and yellow graphics? Need ideas.
Gunny, I was expecting you to tell us you're going with a pink Hello Kitty motif for your stand. Or maybe unicorns. lol
Or maybe a few care bear prints!

I agree. I've got the same wheel and pedal set. The quality of equipment really increases the enjoyment
I was wondering where you were last night. It really is great stuff. Enjoy!

Good shit Grim! That Miata in the background yours?
The truck is mine however the Miata belongs to my son-in-law.
Pretty awesome Grim!

Sorry but most of the templates are no longer useable due to having to spray glue them to the boards for cutting out the various curved shapes
Looking good! Now lets all hope the new rig (name TBD) doesn't give Grimm any more confidence else none of us will ever win a race again.
