Hill climb and drift

I was thinking about running a hill climb style event, I was thinking that people could build the car and then run it in their own time and just send me the replay. Or each event one racer builds the car that everyone must used for that run. What do people think? Any ideas?

i also have been messing round with drifting and drift builds. Still really new to it but was wanting to maybe hold a meet for anyone who wants to practise. I have a few drift cars and tunes that I can share with anyone to help get this off the ground. If we get enough interest then maybe form the 2old2drift team.

Drdriveby was asking me if we had any drifting stuff in the club. Although we've never done any organized drifting before, I'd love to see something get started. I just can't commit to hosting yet another raceday right now. so if anyone would like to try 7 make it happen, by all means do so. Even if you're not experience with hosting, those of us who are can helo sort those issues out.

Thinking of using fujimi kaido for the hill climb style events. This has a great verity of corners, bumps and cambers. Not sure on cars or specs for cars yet.

@jcotter - thanks mate, if I need to pick your brains I will, good to know there's help if needed.

i know there are a lot of events running and people have limited time, and time zone issues, that's why the event would be ran by replay entry, like maybe run it once a month or something, this would give everyone time to get a run in.

as for the drifting, I have started practicing drifting and if anyone wants to get together post on here and we will sort something out, maybe look at tandem drifting as we'll,

I have a unique idea that might fit in.  I have built some "rally" cars.  These are not traditional rally cars, rather cars with alot of power, short gears, and agressive diff settings.  So they have to be sideways to be "fast".  They feel similar to cars being driven on dirt.  They are intended for racing, but they obviously result in tandem drift at the same time.  I really enjoy them and I think they might be a fun way to do a hill climb event or at least have some fast sideways fun.

On another note,  I am an instructor at a motorcycle road racing school and we train in the dirt with slick tires all the time to teach throttle control and sliding skills.  My "rally" cars would be a great way to learn the same skills and teach people to turn the tcs off.

Eitherway I am down to hill climb.

Quite like to try one of those cars nasties they sound fun, I like your thinking as I wanted this to be different from the normal racing we do and also pre-built cars might open this up for people with no a lot of time to go building and tuning a new car.

i sent ya the 65 mustang, which is a "rally" car.  not good for drifting or racing!  the e36 is a what i call a speed drift car, and the country squire is just a balls out 900hp drifter.  :)

Had chance to take the e36 out on the fujimi hill climb track, wow goes like stink. Not the easiest to drive at first but after a bit of practice it's a joy to drive. Very easy to get it into a drift and can be controlled. I think I'd like to see an event using this type of car, but its not going to be everyone's cup of tea, so I also think that some more traditional hill climb will also be ran as well. Will take a look at the other cars tomoz.

Ideas for hill climb so far.

rally type cars (specs to follow)

speed drift hill climb (everyone uses same car and tune)

classic hill climb (golden oldies)

80s - 90s saloons (specs to follow)

america muscle (v8 madness)

ultimate hill climb (only rule no super cars)

theses are just ideas for now and all ideas and imput is welcome.

Memories of Dirt 1 and Pikes Peak...great memories (really wish I could get a wheel to work on Dirt 1 sad )

This may be a no-brainer but was the plan to have delayed starts as in typical rally like hill climb events?

Not really sure could be, I was also thinking of maybe replay entry eg run when you can and send replay or put on store front. This way might make it easier for people with all the other races happening, and run an even every month or so to give people time to do their run. At  the min I'm testing the water seeing what ideas people warm to, so it's an open book right now.

How about:

Delayed start

Compare best lap time

End race timer unlimited

This could be some good fun :-)

Hill climb events are always time based with no wheel to wheel racing.  That being said it might be cool to do a one on one ladder type system.  Either way. I want to Race some drift cars :)

Ok so for the speed drift event I'm hoping that capt nasties will supply a tune that everyone who enters must use, this will be a solo run replay entry event. We will use this as a trial run for this system, all other events are planed to be delayed start races. As a side competition people can submit in this post paints for the car that's being used. You don't need to run the event to entre paint. The winners paint would then be used by everyone who runs the event in conjunction with nasties tune and also be offered the sonsorship of the next delayed start hill climb eg their garage name on the number boards of entrants. After that at each delayed start race I would pick my fave paint (everyone paints their own cars) and they would sponsor the next event and so on. There are great painters in 2o4f and I'm trying to help show off the talent we have here, what do people think?

I think, if you really want some competition, you should look up Sarcasmo Jones ( tuner and point to point racer extraordinaire).

He's really fast in these type of runs, and frequents the top 200 on the leaderboards as well as turns a mean wrench.

Don't tell him I said anything nice about him, he won't believe it.

Oh shit! Somebody hacked Oldschool's account! Does anybody have his phone number?

This sounds like something I could get into. I may have a car or two that can make it up the mountain...

I really like the sound of both of these events. I don't do much drifting but definitely interested in giving it a go and hardly ever drive Fujimi so would definitely be up for a bit of hill climbing!

I can supply a tune weather it be a drift or race tune.  If you decide on a race tune I think we should allow custom settings and a standard build.  A interesting rule might be When someone posts a lap on their storefront they also have to put the tune they used on their storefront so others can try it.

lol sarcasmo, I just think oldschool was having one of his turns due to not having his medication.

ive been holding replay entry events at fujimi, we have had two so far, ultimate hillclimb and a vintage hillclimb, I'm working on the details of the next event and will post in the race section soon. Ideas and imput always welcome.

Hmmm....

How about a downhill touge run? Japanese cars only, 350 HP max, no race/drag tires, no aero. Fastest to the bottom...

This must be that soapbox racer thing I hear you guys speak of... Doesn't interest me personally, but I'm up for whatever.

I've just been re watching Initial D and thought some downhill runs with similar cars and set ups like in the show would be interesting.
