I plan on pitting halfway on Le Mans. During testing I was running 4.16s so barring catastrophe I'll have the first leg knocked out in under 2.5 hours. Should have time to run the first leg in the next couple of days.
I sent you guys the paint again with a more accurate font on the plates.
Got em. Thanks mate. Ran a couple testing laps around Laguna. Going to be a fun car to drive. You can really dance the rear coming off the corners w/ the throttle. Hope to run Laguna before next weekend is out.
So back in London, and after looking like a fool asking how to get to the BCal hanger, a surprisingly young looking skycap strolls up to me and offers his help. After making our way to an unmarked hangar off of Perimeter Rd S I find this:
I guess someone thought the paint job should be more subdued and, the addition of legit US Diplomatic plates was an unexpected, yet welcome, surprise. With so many of the other racers in Porsches or running full on aero kits I doubt any cops will even look our way...
No way we were getting through London during Queen Elizabeths's Diamond Jubilee so we just chilled and hit the road a few days behind the other racers.
We slide out of London in the middle of the night, making great time. Unfortunately a few kms west of Versailles I nearly killed the whole team when I clipped a curb and rolled the car 4 times. Fortunately we were all wearing our seatbelts and the car landed right-side-up.
We limped into Paris in 2h 26:09. After a few phone calls and nearly $30,000 we're ready for Track’s leg to Luxembourg.
Here are my first 3 posts so you guys can get the whole story so far:
Picked her up from the DirtT guys this morning! She's registered in Chicago and ready to run!
I'll fly into London on the 30th so I'll have a couple days to run up to Manchester and visit Didsbury. Went to St Mark's high school back in the day and can't miss this opportunity to see Bamford road again. Sadly St Mark's is gone and I don't think the Three Witches are still around either...
Travel safely ladies and gents. Catch you all in London on Friday!
Has everyone in your group been made aware of the rules?: Yes
My teammates are making flight arrangements as I type and will meet me in London on Friday morning! Good thing I chose a sedan...
Helios made a call to a friend at the US Embassy who said he could help "facilitate" our little trip and told me to leave the car in London while I shot up to Manchester to reminisce.
Just got a voicemail from a woman that didn't leave her name instructing me to go to BCal's Hangar 5 at Gatwick to pick up our car. A quick google tells me BCal's Hangar 5 was demolished in '09. Hmmm. I'll figure this out in the morning, but now I'm headed to the chippy...
Busy RL week. But have done some test runs of 10 lappers at Nurburgring GP. Car handles very well with the tune. Consistent 2:08.xxx laps. Now just have to find the time to do it. AI's the least of my problem. Call me Mr Simeister. Should only have to make one pit. After 10 laps tyre wear was under 5%. And the gas consumption could probably get me the whole way on one tank. Any advice is welcome.
Are we keeping our race times to us here or are you gonna post them as we go? I'm old school and like to keep em guessing and worried over at FM4.
Sitting around the house watching TV and felt guilty that I had not done my part as of yet.
Went down and knocked out the 44 laps on Nurburgring GP today. BL of 2'06.166. None over 2'12.00. Except for the pit lap. No major offs and only a few very minor grass visits. Was going to try and do the whole race without a pit and all was going well until the little gas pump light went on with 6 laps to go. It looked like I still had plenty of gas left to do the rest of the race but I chickened out and pitted on lap 41. Anybody know how many miles you can go after the indicator shows up? I just didn't want to ruin a decent race with a mistake. Race time of 1H 35min &16 secs (1h 35.16). Took slight damage of 7% to side panels on lap 16. But didn't seem to affect me much. Tyre wear at lap 32 was 16.8 to the fronts and 15.5 on the back. I just drove a little less aggressively as the race went on.
Saved replay and picture to follow. Will put replay on my SF under L2MNURBGP. Can rename it and get it to you when needed.
Was pretty funny that my 14 yr old son came down while I was racing and fed me a straw to drink my coffee during the race. So I wouldn't have to stop. And lucky that Mother Nature didn't call either. At my age I usually go 10 minutes before I think I need to.
I used an online random die generator to come up w/ the AI cars (die roll to detirmine the AI PI) for the event to add a true random flavor.
The road to Frankfurt was largely uneventful. Several sprints to 150mph through the contryside saw us roll into Franfurt in just over an hour and 45 minutes. A brief stop was made at the Karl + Co BMW dealership in Wiesbaden, Germany, to have a look at a glitchy transmission which created an over-rev situation situation and subsequent power reduction. A quick adjustment to the trans CPU controller and a clear of the ECU codes and we were on our way for the final 30 mile stretch into Frankfurt.
Several interesting cars were passed on this leg of the journey, including some rare classics like a silver Porsche 550 and a black Jag E-type. A couple exotics were spotted also, with a SRT Viper and Ferrari 355 Challenge heading the top of the list. What will the next leg bring?
dont wait on me to do your second legs im having a hard time finding a solid two hours to do the ring im going to attempt it right now but i may be disturbed again so who knows. il update as soon as i get done.
Well after nearly 2.5 hours I finally finished with the green hell. Unfortunately someone superglued the heater controls to max setting leaving me with a serious case of swamp ass the whole trip and the radio was repeating Justin Beiber-somebody to love. I wanted to launch the car over the guard rails from insanity but I made it to the finish in one piece despite rolling the car over the immediate lap after my first pit stop. Considering this new M5 is no feather weight and has over 650 horse power I got amazing gas mileage having to stop only once for fuel. Hopefully my next leg the air conditioning will be fixed and that Beiber cd will be removed and burned.
[IMG]http://i1040.photobucket.com/albums/b401/myfafp3/IMG_20120630_201317-1.j... I may have to resize the image its not showing the total time on my screen.
Probably going to try to run at least 1 stage tomorrow. I'm going to be gone for 2 weeks in July, so I'm going to try to get them knocked out before I leave.
After flying ahead of the team in Nuremburg for practice sessions in the 997 GT3RSR & Porsche 997 Supercup for upcoming races at the end of July, I rejoined the gang at Masaryk Circuit in Brno. Hopped into the car, refamilarized myself w/ the BMW's characteristics and continued our way to Ostrava. We arrived in Ostrava a little over an hour later w/ no issues. Maybe things are looking up as the early issues w/ the car have been getting sorted. It was a blast hustling the beast through the hills and corners...certainly takes different approaches than a race tuned Porsche.
Am going to try to knock out the other 2 of my races the last week of July. Wife will be at the cottage in Michigan and once I get my oldest son to work the afternoons will be free.

Will try to knock out Nurburg GP this week. I'll get my camera ready for the picture. Car with the 9.0 speed tune handles great.
Opening stage is done.
Flipped the car and it rolled 3-4 times on lap 28. But it landed right side up so I limped the rest of the way to Paris.
Best lap a clean 4:16.594 total time 2.26:09...
Nicely done sir.

I would think post them here, then Naked can post them at FMNet in order.

Going to try to run mine here tonight or tomorrow night. My weekends have been fuller than I'd been anticipating w/ house projects and moving.
Fixing to run my 50 laps @ Motegi if anyone is interested in joining. I'll be setting off in 10 minutes (8:00pm PDT).

My second stint is complete. Will post pic shortly.
Don't forget to post those pics for me guys.
It looks like all the remaining stages, except for #10, can be done in well under 2 hours, thankfully...
Brno - Ostrava: Laguna Seca (47 Laps)
Am going to try to knock out the other 2 of my races the last week of July. Wife will be at the cottage in Michigan and once I get my oldest son to work the afternoons will be free.
Did you save the pic from your last leg?
Yes, I just have been lazy getting it up on the thread here. Will get them up. Sorry.
