Not even close Dixon. 10 maps worse than Landfall:
Swordbase
Backwash
Epitath
Gemini
Spire
Ghost Town (I'll give you this one)
Containment
Assembly (OMFG how could you not have this in there???!!!!)
Elongation
Powerhouse
I could even keep going, but I've kept away from big maps you may never have seen.....
Epitaph is way up there as well. You can't include Spire or any of the other Invasion maps. That was practically a different game. Assembly wasn't THAT bad. At this point, I'd much rather have Assembly or even Elongation in the mix. Without Forge maps, we'd only have two good maps in this entire game. A lof of these maps were good, except for an area of it, or if it only had a little more. Containment was great, if it didn't have the entire underneath. Backwash wasn't so bad, except for the excessive ambience and campiness of the middle.
While I'm on that note, I'm annoyed by Monolith's ambient sounds. It's like they're trying to nerf headphone usage too by having all sorts of loud ambient sounds.

I agree with this. Assembly maybe my least favorite map it was so hard to move around that map. I also maybe the only person that like Orbital it just had the Star Wars Death Star feel fighting it out in the hall ways.
I do like Landfall I'd rather play on that than Abandoned or Adrift.
Landfall and Monolinth are decent for the time being. Both need a little work to play and flow better. Skyline is just a horrendous map. Boltshots, shotguns, sticky detenators, and ARs and their alien equivalents rule this map. There's little reason to equip a skill based weapon like the dmr with so much cqc.

I pulled a sniper in ordinance and was snapshotting the AR noobs last night. It was fun. :)
Is Skyline a horrendous map, or is it that some players don't prefer the cqc, for which it was designed? There are some of us "non-skilled" players who like cqc, and I enjoyed the map.

I'd like to play Slayer Pro on it. It seems like jetpacks, Assault Rifles, shotguns, and what not really rule that map. Despite that, I think I've enjoyed objective games on it.

i like the map. a little small for my tastes, but not bad.
i am not a fan of the play style happening on it.
at one point yesterday three members of the other team had shotguns and the other a sticky detonator.
that's rediculous in my opinion.
this is no different than my team having two beam rifles and two sniper rifles on monolith. no place for that in the game.
again, my opinion...though it was fun to run through the other team like that. lol

yes. there are already 2 shotguns and sticky detonators on the map.

I was hoping you'd say that.
With the two shotguns that spawn initially, they'll run out of ammo or get dropped and disappear eventually. With pointstreaks, the shotguns might never stop coming. With Team Slayer (more classic type rules) the shotguns can be countered and used up and do not add a random factor - both teams know they are there at the start, and it provide some early combat to gain control of an early advantage.
So I think we agree that it can quickly become one sided from an early advantage with Infinity Slayer. An early lead, leads to more shotguns, leading to more kills. The losing team has a very uphill battle trying to recover.
Just like I said with regards to COD killstreaks - they reward how well you kill the enemy with the ability to kill the enemy even better. One sided.
My map preference is Skyline, Monolith then WAY down below is Landfall. While Skyline does promote close quarter combat, you can also gain the advantage with PV or a jet pack. Skyline gives you a lot of ability to team shoot if you have people setup across the base. It also allows people to push together covering multiple paths. I think the bottom area is almost like a death trap. Hang out below for too long and you are just asking to be naded or shot. Since the map is symmetrical, I think ctf plays very well on it. My armor preference is the jet pack on this map.
After playing a few games on Monolith, I'm starting to like it more and more. It looks extremely cluttered and it looks like objects were just thrown willy nilly onto a board. The more I play, the more I realize that those objects provide a lot of cover from across the map. A really good sniper has a split second window to get a head shot. The lift areas are a little cluttered but I find that eventually people will put 1 in mid, 2 at the lift area and 1 at one of the colored bases. That promotes a lot of team shooting and a lot of cover. This allows allows fast access to rockets. You can also use this basis to move your team fluidly from one side of the map to another. My preference is the thruster on this map.
I only played Landfall once and I hope I never play it again.
All the maps look way too pretty. If they spend less time trying to figure out what looks good and what plays better, we could probably had double the number of new maps.
Monolith is the only map I've had multiple games on. No strong opinion yet other than way too many power weapons for my liking. One game playing with randoms we were getting poned by a good team and they they had 2 beam rifle snipers keeping us holed up, while rocket launch guy along with the 4th guy alternating killing us with the needler or SAW while trying to hide from the snipers. Good times!

Played Rumble Pro on Landfall yesterday. It's kind of meh for FFA. If the battle wasn't happening in the garage, I spent most of my time looking for people.

Nice Wam. Not a kid, I'm really a super hot lady. I just dont want a bunch of gaming nerd leg humpers on me evertime I'm online.

i don't think you need to be a female to get that from a few around here.

How old are you?
I'll be 44 in April let me know I can PM some birthday ideas.
I thought I would love skylskyline, but its polluted with power weapons.
getting mowed down by a team of shotguns sucks.
its awesome for SWAT
I haven't played any objectives on it.
FFA has to many power weapons.
I think landfall will grow on me.
I've only played FFA on it.

best H4 map design yet for my play style.
it's what I wanted solace to be.
Infinity Rumble is terrible on all of the new maps. Way too many power weapons. Rumble Pro is the way to go. I hope someone at 343 forgets to add radar to Pro.
Join in Progress needs to be turned off for Majestic FFA. I get how it can helpful in a team game, but you're almost always in a hole when JiP'ing in FFA. It'd be nice to be able back out to the War Games lobby AND have the opportunity to vote on a map and gametype.
Skyline is nice outside of Infinity games. It may be a tad too small for 8 person FFA.
I like Monolith but it may be a little too cluttered and too close quarters. I was hoping for a more Wizard than Solace feel.
It's a little disheartening to see map packs being outsourced and launch day bugs that are very reproduceable still around. What are we supposed to think of the future of the Halo franchise when the company making the games follows a fire and forget launch policy?
The bug I still run into almost every time I've played since launch is a regen field one. Moving around while on an incline, such as the side of a hill or just a ramp can cause the field to have absolutely no effect. It still appears, still forces the ability into a cooldown, but doesn't do any sort of shield recovery.
Why would I buy Halo 5, when by the time I've gotten it home from the store shelf 343 has already abandoned it and moved on to full Halo 6 mode?
Of the three new maps I prefer Monolith. It's outer edge is not used as much as it could be I think. The center seems to be an enticing death trap.
Besides the support from the devs though, the game still offers easy fun. It's not bad to just load it up and play some matches and have a good time, then be done. Halo shouldn't need fancier shoulderpads to keep people playing.
Ghost town was fun for 1 flag, swat, and shotty snipers. I don't know where you guys are getting all the hate from. It wasn't a great map, but there were some good times had on that map.
One of my favorites was a black and white rendition which we played swat with a pistol on. It was super fun.
The more I play this new map pack, the less I like it. Too much clutter.

The sightlines were cut off from a lot of places. If you were inside the buildings, you had to have folks come to you, creating a snoozefest. Hell, even if you were in the pipes, way back behind that one spawn, it was a boring campfest. Just cluttered, ugly, and unfun, and the first of the maps that was seemingly inspired by Call Of Duty.

I think I understand where you are coming from. It's the game style you prefer and how it works on a map that makes the difference.
Like Double T, 2old2pwn members always liked playing on Ghost Town and we frequently had 16 on it. Never dull and never a snoozefest. Not the best scenario for skillz but my god we had fun.
The only true negative for me was getting caught up on some geometry, which was usually my fault for hanging around those bad areas. Not always though because some geometry shouldn't have caused problems.

I like these maps, because the BR can and does dominate on them :)
I've been using the carbine on Skyline a lot, doing wonders for me so far.

Amen to that last sentence. Thankfully, we can make worthwhile maps in Forge.
