What about 1-2 years from now when iracing, Simraceway, Pcars etc. have console versions alongside PC? Just something to consider as there is a lot of talk of this being the last console cycle amongst the big publishers... Steam box, nvidea, etc are already seeing this and the hybrids are already on the way... The future will be platform agnostic...
just sharing a heads up, GT planet has merged everything under one banner, that might be a good format for us...
I've never been to another area of 2old, perhaps because I'm too old to figure it out... Just say'in...

Then we all change our names and pretend we don't know each other if we ever cross paths in public.
Wow I heard there was a fight in the kitchen, didnt know food was being thrown. I do think that this has gotten outta hand a bit.
2o4F: This is what started everything here for everyone. Jason (JCotter13) put in alot of effort to get this up and running,I know because I was there. Was I instrumental in its foundation,no but you cant blame some of us for feeling strongly about it. For years thats all we dealt with FM2,FM3,FM4 and now FM5. I miss the fact that nobody plays Forza anymore, granted T10 has broken the private lobbies, and of some you dont even have an XB1. Some have tried to get Forza lobbies going,Gizziegod with his Thursday track night, and recently MaxPerfoma with his F1 and V8 Supercar. What doesnt help is when someone decides to schedule a GT6 event at the same time! Granted everyone has the freedom to choose which race to participate in,but nobody is going to show up for FM5 knowing that it will only have 3 to 4 people racing,I know because I'm guilty of it. But the same time you can expect things to stay the same, all things change with the passage of time. Hopefully we can make the coming changes for the better of our group as a whole.
2o4GT: After having been gone from the site for nearly a year due to working late shift and never having time to play with friends I never knew our group had started playing GT till I came back, and I see nothing wrong with it. In fact I think its a great game and I have enjoyed playing it with you fellas. I think its great that we branch out into other aspects of Sim Racing,I dont however wish to see this as the wedge that breaks up our group of nearly ten years, thats silly.
D2NR: I loved the time spent with this Club,if I'm not in a MP room racing with my mates I'm in the Rivals setting lap times. I couldnt give two shits about single player. I loved the fact that kurupt and Rocket (think that was his GT) had created a club based on the Leaderboard's. And wasnt repping something from the outside because it was built from us 2o4f members. As kurupt said we always flew the 2o4f/2o2p banner in everything we did. It did really suck when D2NR ended, but as I said everything changes,I still remember the XBL message from kurupt saying he was stepping down. Life changed for kurupt,Rocket dissappeared and the bottom fell out, shit happens. Now kurupt and Sarcasmo are both racing friends of mine so I dont wish to be in the middle of theyre firing sqaud but arguing over something thats been dead for a while is dumb IMO.
2old4Racing: I think this IS where our Club is heading,am I sad to see the 2o4f banner going away...yes,but it will still be here. We will still be playing Forza,we will still be playing Gran Turismo,we just happen to be adding other aspects of Sim Racing with the addition of 2old2race. Hell before I read some of the posts in this Thread I didnt even know the 2o2r guys were frowned upon here. It's really kinda silly when you think about it,but I guess at the time we were FM only. But not anymore, our group is growing and our group is changing. Do I think it's for the better? Yes! Do I think we will lose friends over it? I would hope not,and we are going to gain a whole new group of people that just happen to do the same thing we love. They just do it on a PC. Who knows we might even get a few them to come race with us on our little consoles. Welcome everyone to 2OLD4RACING!
Don't get me wrong, 2O2R are not by any means frowned upon, we set up separately because after I got the PC racing bug, a few posts about it here got a little testy, I'm not casting any stones here and maybe it is fair to say I was as much to blame as anyone, no one so passionate as the recently converted, I had also gone through a lot of frustration with Forza lobbies at the time, so that maybe came out as well. While things were going well with Forza I threw myself into this club, organizing series, racing in other folks series, loving the help and assistance I got from the members and paying it back anyway I could. But for some reason a year or so ago things went sour, constant disconnects and lag drove me up the wall, at the same time I was getting into PC racing and that was going well, no lag, no disconnects so I threw more time and money into my PC rig.
To ensure everyone could express their passion without upsetting anyone else we decided that the PC racing side of things needed it's own home. The friends I made here are still friends, I still have an interest in this part of 2O2P, and and drop by from time to time to chew the fat. 2O4F started my love of sim racing, nurtured it and fed it. For that I will always be grateful and like others fly the flag of 2O2P on my race skins out there in the big bad world of PC racing.
Will PC and Console racers ever be able to share the same track? Well I know my sim of choice will never be ported, Pcars? Maybe, I'm not a great fan of it but have it, and for sure would join a series here if it was running. As for iRacing LOL so other sim will start an argument quicker, so I'm saying nothing.
Like I have said we are not separate, we live in the same house so to speak, all members of the same family. But like all families, we have our differences, and need our own space sometimes.
The PC stuff won't be part of us period. I love the PC guys but the future of THIS website dictates this decision. No offense Knight .
None taken, I was just explaining the history and getting the idea of us being frowned on out the way, as it is not the case :)
Some of the people instrumental to 2o2r are still some of the people I have the most fun with on the 360. So I don't get any of this frowning crap.
I don't quite get the PC and console thing upcoming within the site, it sounds like two completely separated boards?
Seems like the hierarchy should be 2o2p>racing>console/PC and then split the appropriate games under the appropriate platform? But it sounds like I'd have to go to PC first and then look for racing?
We're here for racing, not for cheerleading a platform. I'd think that's pretty obvious since last fall?
Like Knight said we are all in the same house just different bedrooms so there is no need to mix things up even more. Seriously guys 2Old4Forza Is just one room of this 100+ bedroomed house ;)
I've not been very active on here of late but in every game I play I'm always 2old2play. I have both PC and xbox one, some games are just better on PC and some better on console. There is out there some PC vs console hate but I don't think it has a place here unless your one of those girly playstation lot. Lol then fu.
As for name changes......how about 2old2comeupwithanamesowearejustnotgoingtobother
i don't think changing the name could hurt.......but if it was to happen then groups inside a group isn't the way to go this will lead to difficulties, all under one name with sub forums names after the game ie forza etc....use sub forums to make it easyer to find events and topics sure. Let's assume your new to the 2old2play family and want to get into sim racing. Ok you need to go on the 2old2play site and join then you need to join 2old2drive then you need to go and join 2old4forza or 2old4gt etc hmmmm confused much. It should be easy. It shouldn't matter if you race forza or gt etc we should all have the same name on our rides. 2old2simracebecausemyeyesightandhearingarenotwhattheyusedtobe.
To be honest I don't care what were called the only reason I'm still about is the chance to race and shoot the breeze with the guys here. I'm definitely not online as much as I used to be which is more to do with me reprioritising my life than anything else.
The switch between old to new consoles will take some time and I do plan on getting an Xbox one at some stage in the future when I can justify the outlay to myself and more importantly to my better half, if it's a choice between putting the money towards a family holiday or getting the Xbox one it really is no choice to be honest. Fear not I will still be playing Forza 4 and letting Church, Max, Parcells, Oldschool to name but a few in on my own unique philosophy and view of life.
May the Forza be with you always.
1. 2old4racing for the roof with appropriate landing area, a cheery welcome that attracted me over here originally and some chat we all have in common.
2. Then nice wide open doors to PC and Console areas.
3. If people then want to have 2old4reversing/Forza/race/drive/GT/ramming they can and should have free access.
Get the landing and welcome right - open and friendly with clear options and this community will just get stronger.
Just my .02
Edit: and by community I mean 2o2p - I rarely comment outside 2o4f, but the original debate when we opened up the 2o4f area did mean I now pay attention to the wider site and sometimes post elsewhere.

With V4 this will change. The clubs on here are going and we are all basically getting put together.
The following is from Doodi the owner of this site. It should help clear a few things up:
Its nearly impossible for new people to find others on 2o2p and the clans that do recruit lock down new voices in hidden forums where the feeling of a site community is snuffed out before it starts. This used to be a necessity with 100 person friendslists and only 1 or 2 games, but now clans have become their own communities that plan "any game". So in the end it becomes. "whats the point of 2o2p when we can just take their idea and buy a cheap forum to post on?"
Those days are past us now I think. It seems better to spend time growing one community that focus on one group with mulitiple leaders and events. Its time to get back to helping other gamers find people to play actual games with. While it's not been publicly promoted, its time to push our mobile app and continue the push to V4 with a truely stripped down focus version of 2old2play.
I'm sorry for any lack of leadership and/or disappointment I've caused you guys in the past, but honestly I don't care if 2o2p is 500,000 people or 5. I'll alywas work on finding ways to make it better and grow our community in new ways. Even if that means starting over from scratch. Because frankly, I love games. Its why 2o2p exsists. If I'm not around to play console games then maybe I need to grow the PC side of things better. Maybe I need more console leaders to grow the forums that deserve growth. I'm all for it.
Having said that, I'll be sending out a fairly long email to each and every site member in lue of the new year. In it I hope to explain my plans for the future, piss a lot of people off, and get back to the roots of what 2o2p was. Not a place for clans, not a place for cliques, but a place for friends. If you want to stick around I'll see you in 2014. If not, I have a list of older gamers sites for you that all "do it better". Lord knows there are plenty out there now.
Yeah, I saw this'd when it was originally posted, but clearly do not understand what it actually means. I thought I did, but I don't.
Basically put together?
Perhaps if someone could point me to a site or organisation already using a similar model? That might help me, and perhaps a few others, gauge wtf is actually intended. I think we are pissing in the wind until Doodi actually reveals what's going to happen.
Yeah been thinking that myself poids. I wish I had some set answer's to questions like are the forums staying etc but nope will just have to wait. So I think it may be best to do nothing until we get more info?

+1
But you cannot agree with me Jones!!
Although I am going to tweak the new subforum layout's etc. In each racing Sub-Forum I'm going to Sticky all active events and upcoming ones. Once an event has finished it will be unstkiyed this way it sould be easy to see whats running and not.
II'm going to tidy up the Main Forum area as R/L got in the way yesterday and I didnt have time to finish.
The longer this thread has been going the more I'm finding myself agreeing with Jones. What the hell is going on.
Yeah, I hear that. After having a nice go round with Jones about Forza 5, I read his political blog and found it difficult to disagree with just about anything he argued. I then read more of his game reviews and had the same response. I also realized that he does some of the best game reviews on the Internet, including his review of Forza 5.
My only beef with him at this point is the rivals time in the F1 VIP event that he just set in Forza 5. I had to scratch and claw to beat his first time, but it took him less than two weeks to beat my time.
Lol, I don't know that I've ever agreed with Jones, but not sure on any disagreements... Politically we are in really different, perhaps because I'm a historian but I do have slightly more open minded social views... I live in SF, I have too... And if anyone try's are takes my guns I'll rob Jones so he 'gets it' :p
But as "mature gamers", the one thing that supersedes our love of sim racing, there is always common ground... Especially considering the leading issue in our county is that we are decided and that opens up all sorts of opportunities for the 'haves' to wreck Havok on the 'have nots' Case in point, Jones's forza review was really well done, I couldn't agree more... Even Dan G read it.
Thank you, thank you, I'm here all week,
Stay Classy San Diego

You take credit for starting a side club that was comprised of 2O4F members?

I'm pretty sure I can find numerous ideological differences, but I digress.
