When is a good weeknight for a series?
When is a good weeknight for a series?
PLEASE UPDATE YOUR BUILD/TUNE TO INCLUDE RACE FUEL SYSTEM, AND RACE IGNITION.
I would like to start a series that runs on a Thursday Night
The car is going to be a 92' Ford Escort RS
This will still be a pretty fast car, and will be a little easier to drive for the new guys. Lack of aero will remove one of the tuning variables, and 'might' help prevent some accidents (maybe not on this car, but IMO aero helps to cause some accidents in the faster cars)
I want to get any of the new guys that can make it involved. So, if you would mention it to any of the new guys you are racing with in the lobbies, via XBlive messages etc. This will be the perfect car/series to get the new guys involved. (ALL are welcome however as long as you don't mind some form of handicap)
I think it would be neat to award prizes for more than just finishing position. Things like driver elegance awards for clean racers, most improved over the course of the series, things like that. (all voted on by participants)

I'll iron out a track list later tonight but it might look something like this (not neccessarily in this order)
Maple Valley Full
Hockenheim International
Road Atlanta
Silverstone
Nurburgring GP
Suzuka Full
Twin Ring Motegi
Sebring Full
And more tracks TBD.
I'm open to track suggestions too. This is a fast car, but it's no fire breathing monster so I'd like to avoid tracks with really long straits (like Road America). However some of the full courses will have several more passing oppurtunities than the shorter versions of the same track (Silverstone and Nurburgring GP come to mind), and that is why I chose the full courses.
EDIT: I'm considering modifying the build before making an official post in the racing section. The modifications would be race ignition, and race fuel. This will bump up power a bit without making the car heavier. The PI ends up at A596 I think it is. I want to run tonights test as is though before I decide on any changes. Frankly the only reason I have for making changes is to make the car a little faster to attract more racers.
Gary used to run the Pro Am on a Thursday, had a good turnout too. Often 2 rooms.
Ya, and all I have noticed is the GT5 on PS3 events on Thursdays.
So, with that said, I'm going to plan on Thursdays at 9pm EST.
The Escort is posted on my storefront. Tuned for Road Atlanta, and performs really well on Infineon IRL. The car is a A570. However, this is an AWD car, and it has race clutch/driveline/trans/flywheel and all of those raise the PI artificially in my opinion. The thing handles GREAT IMO. Ran a 1:34:2 at Road Atlanta, and a 1:44:1 at infineon IRL (had a 1:43 going but someone-and by someone I mean COOTER crashed right in front of me LOL)
I gifted this car to a bunch on my friends list, and I tried to share it on the central garage but it's full.
I'm currently watching a few Walking dead reruns ( first season at 8pm Thursdays EST) but I think there's like 3 left? Would love to do this and get to harrass, err meet the newer guys on the track.
Can you send me just the build and I'll set me up a car? ( No LUck Rides AGAIN!!!)

I should be able to make this.... If my dog allows me!
Hey Im a new member that would love to get involved in this! I am honestly a little intimidated by what the regular / veteran racers would be like on here, so I would love to find a series that could introduce me to racing here. Thursdays and Tuesdays work best for me.
Hiya Ramciosa ! Where are you from? East,West,Central, Euro, Canadian?
Don't be intimidated by anyone from 2O4F...we were all newbies here at one time...lol...except for a few anyway. But all will gladly help you out with anything you need....cars,tunes,paints...race school. Jump in and have some fun !!
Sweet thanks! I am Central US. Tennessee to be exact lol. I cant wait to get into the racing and get a club invite . I mostly do lobby races right now. B class is by far my favorite. I think the first thing i need is some 204F vinyls or paint jobs. Definitely want to get working on some designs ASAP
You should have a club invite in your inbox in-game now. I also went ahead 7 sent some of my club logos. Welcome aboard.
I'm beginning to think Cotter's SHIFT key is broken...
Yep. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
Send me a Friend request, I'll get you started on the club paints.

Thanks a ton everyone :) Cant wait. Been aching for a good club for a while
Prebuilt a new member umm Countach711 is looking to run with some newer members who aren't quite up to speed and he would be a good candidate for this. From his post I see he is looking for a "Slow Dog Series" which imo is a good name for it, what do you think?
It sounds like a really good idea.
Personally I don't mind been excluded from an event due to been too fast ect and I don't think any of the faster guy's here would.
There is enough events for everyone to race, so one dedicated to the slower guys sounds like a really good idea!
Also just by using previous and current season results you could establish who is "too quick" for an event like this.
I tried to add the car to the Central Garage, but it's full.
This would make it easier for guys to pull it up when running in lobbies.
Church I think everyone should join in. The idea isn't just so it's easier but to learn also. My idea is more a unwritten code of conduct kind of thing for this event. The faster guys are more careful around the slower guys, point out things to them while on track, supply tunes, that kind of thing.
A few things I would like to try based on the chatter I hear during races, and lobbies. I'm considering working in grip handicaps for the faster guys. I think this will slow them down appropriately, and won't create the "catch up in corners, get left behind on straits" frustration.
Another thing I always hear is complaints about the tune they have, forgot to tune, last weeks tune etc. My idea is a "claimer" setup for tunes. If you finish in the top 3 (just for an example) and someone else requests your tune, then you have to send it to them. Ideally I'd like to see this happen in between heats, but I'm not sure how the logistics would work for that.
brnt-I'll try to add that guy you mentioned.
I'll try to get on & clean out the central division garag this afternoon bro.
Thanks Cotter.gif)

BTW it's not much notice but lets run a test race THIS Thursday night.
Anyone who wants a tune I have it on my storefront, or send me a message and I'll gift it to you. Capt Nasties sent a tune to me to try, so he may have that on his storefront too. Both are pretty darn good IMO.
You might want to edit your original post & put the build specs there.
As well as the car/year etc...
I did some editing on the first post.
I'll start a new thread in the race series section this weekend that's a bit more organized. I need to figure out a few things first. Handicaps, track list etc.
I drove this car around cat national last night with prebuilts tune. It's fun and easy to drive!
If you did, it must be!
I gotta quit acting impulsively...SQUIRREL!
http://youtu.be/SSUXXzN26zg
mhmm, if you've ever wondered "What the hell is Oldschool doing?" as you come up the track behind him, study that video and all will become clear...
It's ok OldSchool. I know your SQUIRREL!!! pain.
quick question about the build, aero at all? Or stock body? And are we allowed to tune at all? Suspension settings etc
No aero.
You can tune anything you would like that is tuneable.
You also can use any wheel STYLE that you like in the build. FWIW I used one of a few of the lightest wheels available, so all options but maybe a handful are heavier.
If I haven't added you already send me a friend request so I can send an invite tonight. (GT is Prebuiltabyss93)
