Just a reminder I'm going to run a practice race tonight at 9:30 PM EST.
Tune is on my storefront but I will gift it to anyone who requests it. You might want to add a second tune that stretches out the gears as they are pretty short (seems to work most places for me though)
I think I want to run handicaps similar to Kraigger's Yaris series, and Cooter's Evora series. One thing I DO WANT TO TRY TONIGHT is a grip handicap instead of power handicap.
Should I make a post about the practice race in the racing section?
SEE FIRST POST FOR UPDATE ON BUILD/TUNE INFORMATION
I tried a grip handicap a few days ago. A 5% Front + 5% Rear Grip + 5% power is about the same as a 15%-20% power handicap I've found. I'd experiment even still prebuilt. That was the results I got running the Evora with Shrimp on Leguna Seca.
Ya I'll see how it goes. Maybe use a combination of both. Thing is the car only has 280hp (at 2,2xx LBS) so I'd like to avoid HP handicaps if possible. (See the bottom of the first post-that adjustment bumps HP up about 29HP)
The bad thing about a grip handicap is that it dramatically changes the phyics of the car, which is not very popular around here imo. The handicap system that seems to be much easier and quicker to implement is the podium handicap imo. The heat system takes quit sometime to shake out and can be inaccurate at times also.Btw prebuilt if you'd like to share your tune with me I'm interested in checking it out.

I thought I sent the tune to you already brnt? If not I'll send a copy over when i get home.
As for handicaps........I want to involve everyone but not chase off new guys. So I need to do something. And every race I've been in the guys with power handicaps complain the entire race about them (I finally got handicapped myself in the BTCC races this past weekend so I know how they feel-it does suck) so I was attempting to appease those guys.
Maybe I'll do the podium handicaps, but run down the field further than the top 3. That really depends on how many are going to be racing in this. FWIW the BTCC racing did seem to be pretty close racing, but that requires 3 heats. I don't think it would work as well if only running 2 heats.
Hey, i would like to join this if you could send me the tune setup....
Also, just out of curiosity , if everyone has the same tune / same car, why handicap it? I mean, if the fast guys are getting good times on a specific track and then are handicapped to give the slow guys a chance, what gives the slow guys a reason for getting better? I know when i get handicapped its definitely frustrating because i spent a lot of time practicing with a certain setup only to be handicapped later and have to adjust the racing style to suit the HP drop. So, imho , leave the handicaps out, the guys in back will still be battling and the guys up front will be battling, and gives the slow guys something to work at to be faster....

Ok, enough rant, :)
Because the new guys are intimidated by the faster guys as it is. Getting crushed by several seconds per lap will only make that worse. I would like to see the faster guys take a slower guy under their wing for the series and help them out to get faster.
Then maybe towards the end we can reduce handicaps to see how the new guys have progressed.
Meaning if you are a fast guy this series isn't just for hardcore compitition with the other fast guys. Winning is fun and all, but it isn't 'always' everything.

If the handicaps are valid, and they progress, it should become obvious as they'll move up...
The rotating podium thing is good because it eliminates the somewhat inexact heat process, because anyone that runs more laps somewhere tends to get faster, hence inadequate inaccurate handicaps...I've done it myself.
Still messing with the tunes. Im getting ALOT of understeer lol. But that may just be me not being used to AWD at all
You can loosen the car up with a rear bump adjustment. AWD is different though. You can drive deeper into corners, and take a later apex. In fact it almost requires it because it will pull to the outside of the track under power.
Also I run the diffs locked in front and back. Just a tip I picked up from a fast guy here, and it makes the car faster, but you can't treat the throttle like a switch. Even with only 280hp.
I was going to get to it but you edited before I could. I didn't think I mentioned any one series. I was just talking about handicap chatter in general. The BTCC format works pretty well, and I may copy it
Prebuilt.....remember your first post....your reason for wanting to run this series. This is your series !!!! Run it the way YOU want !!! You'll never make everyone happy with the handicaps. Just make the rules as you see fit. Those that want to run will...those that don't won't. The point is to have FUN ! I for one am glad to see a new guy taking a chance and running a series. Good for you !!
