Well, give it some time. Monday, the ranks come out, and we'll see a bump in players, and then when school lets out, we'll see some more. I'm pretty confident that we'll see Halo as number 3 on this list when it's all said and done.
Shake. Shake shake shake.
Right? I'm glad it doesn't sound any less Pollyanna-ish or naive coming out of my mouth too.
New maps, ranks, boobs, new playlists on Monday. I'm surprised that GTA stays up as high as it does makes me want to go get it again.
I remember that, on release, GTA looked like it was going to have some serious staying power for multiplayer game modes. It didn't have any good multiplayer game modes, really.
Minecraft LOL!
Exactly what I was thinking! I have definitely noticed a drop off in H4 population. Not scientific or quantitative, but definitely less numbers in the playlists. I am definitely much less motivated to play MM in H4 than I was in H3 or even Reach. Thank goodness I am a campaign freak and still enjoy clan, over 50 group, and site-wide customs (altough I haven't been on much lately because of family issues).
Before Halo 4 and Blops II came out, Minecraft held the top spot for over 2-3 months I think.
My kids are on Minecraft any chance they get. Even as old as the 360 is, it doesn't have a ton of good family friendly games. We do limit the time they can play but of all the games out there, I don't mind them playing it because at least they can use their imagination a lot. I'm pretty impressed with the crazy stuff they come up with sometimes. There's just not that many other options out there with replay value for younger kids... which is why I think it's doing as well as it is.
It's also supremely addictive. If you (or your kids) have even a little bit of OCD, it's like crack.
+1 on all this. My favorite scream from my 5yo in the living room yelling at his 8yo brother: "Max! You blew up my bed!"
Tells you something about the quality of Halo 4.
I'm back to playing Reach; Multi-team, Anniversary Classic and occasionally Super Slayer.
Why Reach, though?
I sometimes play H2 on XBC but the majority of hosts are not in the US. Those that are stateside tend to be way above my skill level.
@ Dixon What Laser said. Can't get a big enough group to play H3 customs, not enough people playing H3 MM, and holy crap lag.
@ Jim Yes! I miss the REAL FR Dedication speed flag :(
I'm surprised Halo 3 isn't higher than Reach. Oh well, I'll continue to play this game until it "dies" I guess. Looking forward to the TU and ranks!
I prefer H4, but I was going to play Reach last night. We should have a clan night in Reach so we can play speed flag again.
There is only one path for me. Full speed ahead and damn the torpedoes.
Affirmative captain, full speed ahead into the darkness it is!
The big COD tourneyment this weekend had 103K viewers....103000 people watched people play COD on a Sunday afternoon (3pm pst) and they still had more people playing cod then Halo. If you combined the people watching and playing there were almost tripple the amount of people participating (in some form or another) then playing Halo.
Lag is the main reason I stay away from Halo3.
You have to wonder too if the fact that most people have hit their 130 and don't have much to play for anymore. Casual and competitive gamers alike want to collect things such as guns or armor and/or achieve things like rank or emblems to show how skilled or dedicated they are.
Definitely miss H3 and even Reach. Once and awhile I will load up H2 and super bounce around Ascension and Sanctuary.
Man, that bump of players is going to come, and it's gonna be siiiiick. At this rate, we'll double the playerbase to an even 26: http://halocharts.com/2012/chart/dailypeakpopulation/all
