I know it'll go up a bit as soon as school let's out but it won't be much of a bump now. :(
Doesn't really matter though, does it? You'd swear low population has no effect on MM in Halo 3 or REACH, listening to those who try to step back in time. If it doesn't affect those games why should it affect Halo 4? Isn't that simple logic? Consolidate the playlists or least don't try to expand them and Halo 4 MM will work.
I noticed an interesting thing in Halo 4 MM recently, when I went in alone. I frequently played with people who have very little experience. That means new people are continually coming to Halo. The Halo flame is still a bit of a beacon.
Some hope yet for MM. 2old2play customs are working too. It's not all negative :)

Based on your self-reported avoidance of MM, if you have not played much (or any) MM since the launch of CSR, then your TrueSkill is very low, so you will get matched with other people of low or no rank. These people may or may not be new to MM as everything behind the scenes was reset with the launch of CSR.
So it could be new people or it could be other people that don't play MM much and stay in customs, campaign and/or Spartan Ops.

Well, if this be true then Team Throwdown called and demands a recount!

I just went back and checked some of these people. They tended to be of very low or much lower than my SR 90-100. To me, it implied they were new or returning players. Either way, it suggests an influx of players is happening. It doesn't match the outflow but new/returning players brings new hope.

They could be occasional Halo multiplayer players. Besides, I'm not sure that's enough to warrant actual optimism.
Our clan night Tuesday was atrocious. Lag, people randomly booted over and over, black screen, then we are all suddenly in our own lobbies (2of us booted "offline", but only in Halo...still connected to xbl)...etc. MM and customs. People are talking about shelving Halo for a while. /rant

Sounds a bit like what was/is? happening to me. Except I did not remain connected to XBLive or any other ISP services.
It seems that the closer a playlist is to "regular Halo" the higher its population. Check it out next time you view playlists, and see which are new or changed, and which are altered versions of classic playlists. Then see which has minimal population, and which has a "high" amount.

Yeah, BTB and Infinity Slayer types are always on top but then along comes SWAT. Just guessing but I think it mirrors our 2old2play customs a bit. People tend to like Infinty gametypes but then want a complete break by playing SWAT. I think when the new weapon tuned gametypes come out, some people are going to be very tired of dying nearly as fast as they would in SWAT..
It appears as if we will have to acquire all of the weapon tuned gametypes from either MM or specially setup fileshares for our customs. No final word yet.
Personally, I had a ton of fun with Dominion. I thought it was fast paced and frantic, had bigger but not massive player amounts, included vehicles but still required good shooting... I like it a lot. However, the weapon tuning that has been done makes it a bit more of a chore. Plus the population is quite low leading to repeatedly playing the same opponents.
Hopefully getting the weapons both balanced well and available for customs will be relatively painless.

I'll be aiming for consistency so as to reduce confusion and complaints. I figure once the verdit is in, we'll all just move to the tuned weapon sandbox. I'm not going to fight it even if I don't like it, which I don't think will be the case.

Yeah, that's probably the best idea. It'll not be as jarring for people who just came from matchmaking either.

Dominion was by far my favorite playlist in H4. It's more akin to btb in the previous halos than btb is currently in H4. As far as H3 and Reach are concerned, while you can still find MM games for H3, the majority of the time the connections are horribly laggy. On the off chance you do match someone with a decent host, they are either extremely good or extremely bad. It seems theres no medium ground anymore.

That they are, should be able to make it tonight!

As you shake those pom poms.
