[GT6] One Off RX7 Awesomeness - March 8 - 2000 GMT (15:00 EST) [FINISHED]
Saturday March 8 @ 3:00 EST we’ll be running an awesome GT6 touring car (cant recall driving any that weren’t awesome) across some classic GT original tracks albeit all in reverse and Suzuka of course. This RX7 drives like a dream and handles so well right out of the dealership even wheels wont be able to find fault with it. If you drive it Parcells guarantees you’ll love it! That’s right Parcells guarantees it.
Please post below if you’re interested in what will be some awesome fun. If by some odd chance we have more than 16 we’ll kick out the least liked guy unless that’s me then we’ll kick out the second least liked guy and so on as needed.
Car: Mazda RX7 Touring car (486 HP 577 PP)
Car Upgrades: Oil change only, default race hard tires.
Tracks: First race ONLY will have a 2 lap qualifier with fastest first grid order. Subsequent races will be reverse grid based on previous race results. Laps TBD, shooting for 10-12+ minute races.
Autumn Ring – Reverse
Deep Forest Raceway – Reverse
High Speed Ring – Reverse
Grand Valley Speedway – Reverse
Trial Mountain Circuit – Reverse
Suzuka
Room settings will be basically all SIM like and no skid recovery of course.
I’m not totally sold on the above format (6 races vs. maybe 3 and then a semi-endurance race or 3 semi endurance races) so if you guys have a preference towards something else we can discuss but I’ll lock the format within a week.
If your thread never gets promoted to the "active"(sticky) series section does that mean its not a sanctioned event?
No, its just that its a manual process. Its pinned now and Im adding it to the schedule as we speak. Once you have the one off dirt race topic posted, I'll get it pinned also
Just to add, Not sure if Drivebye will be hosting another event after the Group A Legends finishes that starts at 2100GMT so you may need to try and keep this to an hour or check with Drivebye so as to not impact hi event. If you think this will go longer, you might want to start it earlier.
And as Jones would say, "Your not the boss of me". Im just trying to make sure our evetns are not stpping on toes so schedule this as you want
For the second time in my life I think I’ll adopt Jonesy’s line of thinking and adopt the your not the boss of me philosophy. I know you’ve been consciously trying to not overlap different series/events but I’m not as nice as you and quite frankly don’t give a shit . Besides this is on a different platform and only an exhibition event so if someone wants to do both they can leave this event any time cause I’m definitely aiming towards 1.5 – 2 hour timeframe.
Furthermore, if Drivebye is upset (I’m pretty sure he wont be) when he gets GT6 and then when he drives this car he’ll completely understand and I’ll do him a solid by running the event a second time so he gets to enjoy the awesomeness too…Parcells, always thinking of others and always giving.
I'll update the calendar accordingly then.
I'm In No Matter Who The Boss Is!!!!
OP updated with event specifics.
I'm in!
Read Kurupts immpression of penalties from Sundays race and it sounded oddly familiar in the sense its exactly how I felt about it playing GT5 so I never used it. Was hoping it be a bit better in GT6 because the corner cutting penalties are mostly accurate I've found even though I've definitely disagreed with a few here and there.
Bla bla bla, this rule may change, let me know if you care.
Note to self: Try some of these settings on Thursday nights stupid!
This car is damn fast. Will be buying a second to build up to full PP. 600 I think.

Yep I'm in Parcells. Well unless stuff changes at work, shenanigans are afoot.
Not long now! :)
rub it some Church, it will get longer.
Fuck sake Parcells!
What? Did you mean the races? You should be more specific
Speaking of the races just finished up some initial testing. The car is awesome but boy she can get away from you some damn easy. Lots of people and I’ll probably be one of them are going to overdo it more than a couple times throughout the event even after I write that we will you watch and see :)
Anyway it seems a final speed of 174 is appropriate for Autumn Ring reverse which means 174 is close to suitable for the other tracks…usually (high speed ring the obvious exception?). Pulled off a sub-116 so Church, Grimm let me know how far off I am…if its more than a second Parcells will be upset.
The car has a hard time coming out of turns (too much oversteer) need to correct that some if I’m able.
Parcells...I thought I drove this car before with no issues...I ran some laps today and instantly brought back memories of Skid Control Nightmares...I thought I was getting better at it but this car now for some reason has put me back to square one...I'll try some more but if I cannot be somewhat competetive or get it under control I am leaving this car all to you.
I thought the same thing Wheels then reality hit me...maybe we just got comfortable with it (after a few races) the last time we brought it out? But like I wrote, she's a handful. Try shifting up sooner in the lower RPM range that should help some...definitely do not wait to red-line and my experience from last night was to avoid the really high revs at all costs. Lead foot drivers will get killed in this car.
Is TCS allowed? It sounds like its prohibited
Since I have not tested yet, what's is the fuel tireware setting going to be, or is it a non issueTCS is allowed, all assist allowed except skid recovery.
Also updated the original post...penalties will be set to NONE, damage to weak and tires/fuel very fast but this shouldn't be a problem with races lasting under 15 minutes and race hard.
[edit] grip setting will be REAL so if you're trying to keep up with a wheel or two on the grass = BIG mistake!
3G's...If you find the magic elixir to tame this monster let me know!!!!!
So did some very quick test runs on the tracks and the car is a blast at all the tracks except Autumn Ring as I thing the car IMHO, is just too much for the track. That said, I dont plan on being anywhere close to your times.
Thank 3G's for the critique..Here I couldn't figure out why I was having so many problems with the car since I had none before....I will give Parcells advice a go and if the other tracks turned out as well as they turned out for you I will just feather the gas and get by the first race..
I only tried Autumn Ring the other night and this is good to hear because just like Wheels the car felt a lot tougher to tame than the night we brought it out as a non-spec car. whew!
Parcells...Any chance of switching the Racing Hards for Racing Softs?
LOL There is a chance Wheels but it fits somewhere between slim and none :)
Too close to event kick off to change anything now and besides I wouldn’t want to ruin people’s fun by making this too easy. I'm sure you understand.
I DO
P.(arcell)S...I just really don't think it would be that much easier!
Here are the tunes I plan to use for the event.
High Speed Ring Reverse Only
All Other Tracks
Final Gear Settings for all tracks except High Speed Ring
- Autumn Ring Reverse - 4.500
- Deep Forrest Reverse - 4.300
- Grand Valley Reverse - 4.200
- Trial Mountain Reverse - 4.500
- Suzuka - 4.200
Disclaimer - Have only run a handfull of laps on each track with the above tunes so they may not be ideal. Im sure I get get more out of each one if I had the time but they should do you well. Also, I'm running with TCS on due to my heavy right foot and this is not the best car to have a heavy foot!
Hope it helps
P.(arcell)S... Parcells, I was finally able to just break into the 1:16's at Autumn Ring but damn that was pushhing it for all it had.
