Nice to meet you Mhal900! Great to see some new blood coming in.
Awesome getting to see the specs and wow nwe are gonna need some pretty fancy pc's. Definetly gonna have to buy a new one. Can't wait though. this should be pretty fun. Been watching some of the gameplay footage and she looks great.
The interest so far has been coming from House Kurita. I've tried posting in all the other areas and most of my topics got deleted. Personally I'm not opposed to going strictly Merc. But this is a group of pilots and I'd love to try and get everyones opinion on where to go.
I've created posts in all the forums possible, both houses and Mercs, but most of them got deleted. The main interest that grew was in House Kurita. I'm not opposed to going strictly Merc. But this being a group of pilots I'd like opinoins as to what we all are willing to accept.
Loyalty Points are used to determine how devoted you have been to a particular faction. The more loyal you are, the greater the reward. LPs are earned by engaging in activities that further the goals of a particular faction.
For Example: Killing an enemy faction player would earn 1 LP.
Loyalty Points decay over time if a player is not active. Participating in negative actions can also decrease LPs.
Faction Players
As a Faction Player, loyalty points are earned by playing and winning matches. As the player accumulates loyalty points, they will gain a military faction rank at pre-determined loyalty point totals. If a player loses LPs by decay or negative actions, they will be demoted.
Gaining ranks earns special privileges and items, including membership to special units, unit skins, and bonuses to C-Bills and XP. These are all non-permanent and subject to the player maintaining a certain rank level. At the highest possible levels, players can begin to influence their faction by controlling which planets are targeted in territory conquest.
Mercenary Corp Players
As a Mercenary Corporation, all members’ earned loyalty points go to the Merc Corp. The Merc Corp must have a minimum amount of loyalty points with a faction before they are able to engage in planetary combat on behalf of that faction. Loyalty points also determine the type and level of contract a Merc Corp is permitted to bid on. These loyalty point restrictions mean that a Merc Corp’s membership, must remain active in order to maintain the required level of LPs.
Ranks are created within a Merc Corp by the Merc Corp leader. The naming of the ranks is entirely up to the Merc Corp leader who can assign Merc Corp level permissions to each rank.
Mature Mech Mercinaries / Warriors of Old/ Mech Warriors of Old/ Star Emperor Dragons / Star Ember Dragons or StarFire Blade were suggested over at the MWOMERCS website.
Anyone already decided on what their first mech is going to be?
I'm going with the Trebuchet or Cataphract as my first purchase.
Anyone buying one of the Founders Day packs, if so which one?
I've got enough to buy the Elite FDP, and I'd most likely get the Hunchback. Though I'm saving up to buy the Legendary to get all four FD mechs, not holding my breath though.
Hey, just posted in the New people's forum, primarily joined to try to play MWO with a bunch of reasonable adults.
My friend Wikiri (from ME3 on xbox) directed me here, I believe he's interested in playing, as is another friend of ours. I've purchased the mid-level Founders pack, went with a Jenner. Legendary is tempting, and if you so choose, you can upgrade to it after buying one of the lower levels. No idea what I'll actually buy first.
I don't have any strong feelings about merc company vs. house, but assuming that the Clan invades on schedule, it seems likely that Kurita & Steiner are going to take the brunt of it, assuming things stay true to canon. No idea what that will mean in-game, but it makes me slightly more interested in playing other houses (if playing a house). Heh.
And as far as comanpy names go...maybe something to indicate the flavor of the group, but also tie in to the military/regimental feel of existing names? Grey Death Legion, Wolf's Dragoons, Eridani Light Horse, etc.?
Something along the lines of Old Arcturan Guard, or Ancient Terra Blackwatch?
I'm planning on the Legendary pack. In MW3 and 4 I liked to mix it up, just didn't like laser boats. I'll probably use the Catapult at first. I'll switch from LRMs to 4 SRM 4's when I want close up action. I wasn't planning on using assault mechs much, but the Stalker has been calling my name ever since the devs posted it. It will probably be my first purchase.
The name isn't too important to me, we just can't use anything from the BT universe. With a good reputation and good teammates the name doesn't matter in my book.
Hi Machine Mk2 and Cyllan, glad the group is growing.
Not too concerned with the name or merc thing either. I like the idea of the older thing represented and I like the merc thing if it means I wont be expected to know the backstory lol. I just like big mechs and heavy metal! I wouldn't mind pre-ordering but gonna wait a little longer.
I don't care about factions or mercs...either is fine with me. And certainly, IF the Clans ever show up, everyone will have something to do. I already bought into the hype...I've always been a huge Mechwarrior fan, so why not? It appears they are doing it right. I'm not in the BETA, so all I have to go on is the media. I like the Centurion so far...maybe the Dragon...depends on how ACs handle in-game. Wouldn't mind a Warhammer but that's probably unlikely...or a Thunderbolt.
Minor bummer when I found out the system specs...I'd have to buy a complete new computer just to play this. Now, I know one can build one for not very much anymore, or get a good online deal, but I was hoping to perhaps put in some more memory and a new video card into my existing machine which still has a lot of years left in it.
Ah well...like the Rolling Stones said, "You can't always get what you want!"

How old is your rig, and where are you coming up short?
Comp is only 3 or 4 years old, but look how stuff has leapfrogged! My system, to wit:
Dell Vostro 200, Intel Core 2 Duo. E4500 @2.20 GHZ 1.18GHZ, 0.99Gb of RAM with whatever vid solution came built in. And, running Windows XP Home SP3.
See what I mean? CPU slower, vid function behind the times, and the OS while quite functional, wouldn't be able to handle things. I have no desire to try to 'make' it work, only to have a framerate that handicaps me even more than my Frontier DSL connection.
Guess I won't be fighting the Battle of Tukkayid with you guys anytime soon....
Well Raven so far it seems to be about 9 of us:
Scratchski
Machine
PoltegIce
mhal9000
Cyllan
Retrobution
Wikiri
you and me
There are others who've posted in the thread but not sure if they're on board or not.
I got the elite founders and I chose the Catapult, I may convert it to the K2 variant with 2 PPC's and 2 SRM 6 packs and a few medium lasers. For sure enough heat sinks to support my weapon choices. Add a few more tons of armor to it as well. If we get a few more names we will have enough for 3 lances. That should be good enough for 12 vs 12 battles. Another lance worth of name would not hurt as well. My first purchase may be a dragon but, the grand dragon variant.
I did the same, though I'll most likely buy the legenday prior to Aug 7th.
I want to buy the Trebuchet; the Cataphract; and maybe the Commando pretty quickly. I think the Commando is a good mech for objective based maps, you can keep everyone informed while you run thru the outskirts and come up from behind to claim the prize.
Just picked up my legendary pack. I just wish we knew more about how groups are organized, i.e. groups in a faction or dropping in game together. I suppose we'll have to wait and see.
I hate my garbage laptop.
As do i, friend. I think you deserve a new one.

I'm not opposed to House Kurita. I'm not sure what difference it will make...at first anyway.
Here's the differences I found in the forums:
Loyalty Points and Ranks

Cool.
I'll start brushing up on my Japanese.
OK, let's go back a question or two:
Name of our merry band?

Hi Machine Mk2 and Cyllan, glad the group is growing.
Yeah, I didn't mean to use an actual name from canon, just that something with that flavor might be cool.
And for anyone who wants to practice up, free & legitimate version of MW4 available here: http://www.mektek.net/forums/topic/166925-how-to-install-update-and-play...
Anyone get into the beta, or are we all here holding our heavily armoured, temperature controlled trouser mechs ?
I'm not going to pay to get early access. Think I'll let others pay for the "privilege", of testing and enjoy the FTP when it gets here.
You sir, need to step away from your computer please you're on 2old2play, not a porn site.....
I haven't met any people in the Beta yet. But they are sworn to secrecy....
Not too concerned with the name or merc thing either. I like the idea of the older thing represented and I like the merc thing if it means I wont be expected to know the backstory lol. I just like big mechs and heavy metal! I wouldn't mind pre-ordering but gonna wait a little longer.

Just picked up my Elite Founders pack and selected the Atlas.
As for Merc Corp name, what about something simple that suggests age, even if a bit exaggerated?
The Ancients (hat tip to the Shadowrun street gang), The Antedeluvians.

Any Progress on the unit for the Draconis Combine house or merc unit for MWO.
