Edit* Oh and this little gem was just found on Twitter. Guess those who buy the Xbone have to hope that Timmy doesn't get offended when they tell him to fuck off.
I doubt there is anything new in that for someone buying games from Games on Demand for the 360. Were you hoping for a change in policy?
It's very new considering before it was just any online content, but now with having to install and utilize the cloud for disc based games as well, an account ban would turn your entire console into a brick. You wouldn't even be able to play offline....not like you can anyway.

Again nothin new here. Accounts and 360 can get perma banned now. A deserved outcome for many people. Maybe the ass holes of the world will be a little more respectful on Live now.

Wait, people were raging and having massive kneejerk reactions about made up rumors about Xbox One?
NO WAY
The video has a great point - make an informed decision. Informed decisions aren't snap judgements with little or incorrect information. There is no harm in waiting to decide.

Wait, people are upset because they made a decision based on a statement from an official microsoft source?!
So they're not only going to keep you from playing offline without "checking in" after 24 hours, but if they ban your account they can actually prevent you from playing any games you purchased? How is this legal?

I suppose that's what agreeing to the terms conditions and EULA that are often skipped allows.
Same way with Steam for years now.
Same way with Origin.
Same way with digital Xbox games and also digital content (DLC, MS points, subscriptions, music, movies etc)
Same way with many modern services.
I guess a good question would be, do you think people who are banned from the service forever should be able to keep using the service? Or what?
In other words, is no real consequences for cheaters, modders, etc better?

But not your physical games. You can still play them offline.

I don't know of many modern devices that if banned, you still can't use your device to some extent.

They should still be able to play offline. The console would be banned from online play or connecting to xbox live. If they can't cheat/mod anymore online, how would they affect people?
They should be allowed to play them offline without other gamers, no company should have the right to instantly destroy things customers spend money on.

Exactly. 2-3 years ago I was banned for a week by m$ for 'voice communications', all over a game in Reach in which I was playing solo, without a mic. Went up against another team and they were a little upset about the outcomes when encountering me. One even messaged me after the game that they were going to mass file complaint me. Spoke to customer service regarding my ban when I turned on my 360, and even e-mailed a photo of the message. No dice. If this were to happen on the xbone, my console would become a new paperweight. Even if you are legitimately causing trouble (nothing illegal), that shouldn't give m$ the right to ban you from playing the games you purchased offline. Just another reason to ditch m$.

Well it looks like this text was meant for the 360 (according to the text Dixon posted). That being the case anyone displeased with the "in place TOS" should let their wallets do the talking and should probably sell all your xbox stuff as soon as possible.
@ Laser...So you were temporarily banned (obviously incorrectly), not permanately banned, correct? So that would mean to me these are 2 different issues. To me it appears they are talking about being perm. banned, not a temp ban. Which would mean they have been temp. banned for any number of reasons multiple times.
@Lou the only thing I could find in regarrds to your questions is this (console ban, not account):
If I have a banned console, can I still access my achievements and content?
If your account has not been banned, you are still able to recover your account on an unmodified console. This includes accessing your purchased content and your profile, with achievements, as it existed prior to the console ban.
As far as an account ban I could find no info on the xbox website. I will not make an asumption, since that will get us no where.
As far as legallity, this goes for anything that happens when you agree to that "I agree" check box. Apple does this, Google does this, pretty much any content provider will have wording in their policy agreements stating if you use their stuff in any way that they do not want you to your access can be revoked without any reimbursement.
I think those are two different things to be honest.
Maybe I'm just used to it. I mean, since MMORPGs became a thing, that's been the case. If you get banned in Everquest 1, which was released last millenium, you no longer can play your characters and lose every expansion you paid for too.
If you get banned from a minecraft host, you can lose the world you put there.
Banned from Gmail, you can't get those emails.
Banned from a pictures host, you can't get your pictures.
The list goes on and on and on of this stuff which is very everyday and acceptable.
I mean its really not anything new... but I understand there is some... emotion lately.
I mean, its a product. If you don't want it or disagree... don't buy it. Its not worth wanting illegal things to destroy thousands of peoples work for. Just, don't buy it. Microsoft didn't come to your house and smash your television. They announced a product, which is optional to purchase, not forced.
If its an online only game, then its understandable for you to be banned from it. You should be able to buy a new account without needing to buy a new game, expansion, or system, however. If its a game like Halo, you should still be able to play the campaign or LANs. They should not be allowed to destroy your game entirely. If its a single player game altogether, like Shadows of the Damned, they should no right to do anything at all to the game, as it won't affect other players at all. It sounds like the license revocation/invalidation would apply to movies you buy on your console, too. They should have no right to take those away from you.
I strongly suspect the system for handling complaints is going to get a complete overhaul. Organized complaints against an innocent gamer are all too easy these days. Situations like OMG experienced cannot be allowed to happen. Of course we also know the 360 does not always get banned from Live like the owner. Console banning usually takes something more onerous like modding and other illegal uses. Since the XB1 will be less likely to be banned for minor abuses, the innocent victim will not likely lose the use of their games, offline.
The most important thing to me is that innocents cannot be easily victimized.
I like the Xbox eco-system and the Kinect made a gamer out of my non-gamer spouse. Anyone who lives with a non-gamer knows how huge this is. I have multiple always on-line devices and Xbox One absolutely is gonna improve the living room, the man cave and I cannot wait for that evolution of connectivity. Sony's PS 3 was $500-$600 at launch 7 years ago and that price was losing money. The 360 is strong and will offer fantastic gaming. I heard there is a work around for xb1 for military who cannot get online services (Adam Sessler, I think or another source...have listened to so many). I want the xb1 tech! I rarely loan out my games and do not know anyone else who does. The Xbox One unit IS the multi-player lobby and wants to ping once a day to keep your box ready for you and keep the cloud managing AI and updates happening so when you play...no delays. Correct matching of skills for on-line is big for me...I rarely play mult-p due to these bottlenecks and xb1 may just change that for the better. I am keeping my ears to the ground and not getting emo, avoiding extrapolating false rumors and waiting to see how events play out. And the game line-up and exclusive titles are fantastic. I cannot possibly play all the games any system has to offer. I will play the games I want. Xbox One and Xbox 360 have what I want to play. Yeah, in a year or maybe even 6 months prices will drop $100.00. I can afford the new 'box if I hold off buying several games on my other systems! The launch Xbox One is a special shiny black treatment and is only offered for a limited time. The after launch systems may not have the piano black shine. The new controller is a fantastic piece of tech and I am really gonna enjoy using it. I want accuracy when I input commands! Some pre-order ads include a year of Xbox LIve! Yeah, if I wait it will have a bigger HD. But the blu-ray is gonna hold a lot of info. Yeah, next X-mas the box will have 2 controllers and a game packaged with it. The game visuals are so good now, my eyes will probably not notice improvements beyond the Xbox One and it may be the last Xbox I need to buy as further upgrades can be done with software. Wow! More money available for games!
Honestly I'm not concerned about all the fuss, if my internet goes down and I want to play a game I'll fire up my 360, and just like any other adult here on the website I have a million other things to do in place of playing a game if I'm unable to enjoy my hobby. I do have a feeling MS will change the need for the console to check the LIVE servers/cloud if an internet conection isn't there. As another poster said, I don't have the time/energy to go back through all the posts, but here's something I came across and it makes sense. http://microsoft-news.com/microsoft-engineer-defends-xbox-one-drm-requirements-makes-valid-points/
Even Tom's said the streaming for Borderlands was impressive.
That was quite the surprise out of nvidia when it was first shown. Quite unexpected. Obviously streaming requires Internet, so people will lose interest/gain anger about nvidia showing a handheld, but I think its quite the powerful beast they made there. Its interesting that they'd enter that space when traditionally they haven't, but we'll see how support goes for it.

You misunderstand. To stream you need a home network, not the internet. The Shield can not stream games remotely.
wow. but why would you have 8 controllers connected? I can't imagine how hard that would be to play.
I'm still not alarmed by the "don't preorder and spend that kind of money blah blah blah"
I buy a new iPhone every other year for $400 (I get the largest GB version). That's TWO YEARS. The Xbox/PS4 are going to be good for 8-10 years. $400/500 is not a lot of money for that amount of support.

$400 every other year for a phone? Damn, son. You have a lot of money to blow.

People living in desolate places on Earth who have never had Internet may now get that, thanks to Good Guy Google.
