I've needed hearing aids for many years but the thought of them seemed like such a pain in the ass. Eventually a Dr. said I'd start losing the ability to discriminate words. It could be a permanent problem. Bah, humbug, I like my silence, I thought. This past year I went from just saying "what?" to asking for single words to be repeated over and over and then for a different word to be used instead. That was my brain telling me it was losing the ability to discriminate certain words.
I had to push myself to go to a hearing clinic. Now, I am an owner of a pair of OTICON ALTAs. Not cheap and as per usual, I went for one step down from the top tier. Same important features though.
Yes, they have a level of pain in the assery that I expected. They have also improved my hearing considerably.

no wonder you get tea bagged all the time and not just in halo but at the grocery store
They are the behind-the-ear type with a wire going to an in-ear speaker.
The fidelity is quite good and like most/all that are wireless, they came with a Bluetooth streamer. I.E. Bluetooth media player > Streamer > Hearing aid. Technically I can plug the streamer into my XB1 controller but I haven't tested it much so the jury is out on that. My XB1 stereo headset goes on over them without feedback so that does work very well. When using the mono-chat headsets, the hearing aids don't help chat at all.
The hearing aids talk to each other wirelessly too. Good for settings and spatial stuff.
I've heard Widex brand is good for musicians but the Audiologist didn't recommend them for me. More $ too.

My goodness they have come on, so far I have no need and my hearing is fine...better than it has any right to be after the abuse it has taken over the years, bit it is good to know what is out there if the need arises.

You're not officially old until you break a hip or have yelled at children to get off your lawn. I'm glad the aids are working out. Loud metal has taken a toll on my hearing and my vision is starting to suck. Gonna have to go for bifocals at my next eye doctor visit.
Hey everybody! I have a new fancy pants phone. DO NOT LIKE. The forums look weird, it keeps offering me words like I don't know what I want to say and need its help, the font is weird and I can't change it, and the screen stays black when it rings, so its a multiple step process just to answer a fucking call.
I had to get it...longggg story. BALLS.
My iPod was easy to figure out. Apple products are easy to learn. This stupid Droid is...stupid. And it hurts my ear. It has sharp edges. *pouting* lol
Hubby has had one for years and to all of my complaints, he just says "yeah. It's a Droid." Stupid thing. I'm only using my iPod for forums.

What's the model of your phone? maybey I or someone here could help
I'm not a power user but I think the phone and ecosystem are great. Nice thing about Windows Phone 8 is how it keeps getting better over time. That's partly because it was missing features found in other OS.
Tons and tons of Apps available but I'm not into the App Crap fap.
I don't know if WP 8 is easy to use but it's easy enough for my Wife and I.
I just got the Nokia Lumina Icon, and was able to go to Windows 8.1 after signing up as a dev (just to get 8.1 mind you). Not sure if 8.1 is available to the general public yet.

Not public yet. I haven'y upgraded yet for warranty reasons. I'll get it once Rogers gives it the thumbs up. Hopefully that will be late June.
I just got an LG Optimus L70 ..pretty decent phone, good size screen for my fumbly fingers. I also bought an LG tone bluetooth headset which I swear by now
iPhones are well overpriced here, they do no more than my Android so I am quite happy with it, it makes calls, sends messages, navigates me around, plays games when I have time to kill on the move and for half the price of the Apple, I could ask no more.
In other news I am preparing to see the Eagles on Wednesday, the O2 in Dublin is the venue and that means a night in a nearby hotel. Also got a random update to the O2 Premier club, so no queuing, pre gig drinks and a meal in their club...So living the high life for a day or two. The Eagles have been providing much of the backing track of my life for more years than I care to remember so really looking forward to this one.

Geez Deep, all I did was get some new deck furnitureand some tiki torches.
Congratz I guess on the quality of life improvement? Hope they're wireless!
Are they equipped with Bluetooth? Now that could be handy...Aside from that frippery it sounds sucky, as a musician I really value my hearing.

Morning Peeps! Afternoon to those to the east!
Banana split Oreos are better than watermelon but not by much, they taste a bit like a banana Popsicle .
The only good OreO is a deep fried OreO!
Can anyone explain to Parcells why bird shit is attracted to silver cars?...aarrrgghhh!!!
Silver cars and black trucks, I own both and they are crap magnets...
Learning is hard. ................ At least it is for >older< people. ;)

I thought to myself this weekend, why are my nipples so large? I said to myself: "Free it's cause you got man sized nipples!"
