Good. Now that you're reading it, go start the new GTA V thread in the sandbox forum where it belongs, please. If you want to go on about morality in video games, then continue that here.
Edited by Dixon. Try to stay on topic even a little bit. It isn't easy being the only moderator left. We've more than enough threads for you to needlessly derail, and even threads devoted to derailing, so go there, please.
This thread is obviously devoted to derailing, rising from the ashes of its derailed predecessor, and sporting an intentionally misleading title. Perhaps you should take that into consideration before you start editing my posts...I already have plenty of editors.

Perhaps you need more.
Perhaps...if you find someone qualified then be sure and let me know.
I've played loads of GTA on PS1 and PS2. I wish I had the time and patience to play GTA5. Although I'm sure I'd enjoy it, the thoughts of putting that much effort into a game makes me shudder.
Meh, playing silly games. If you want a thread to discuss morality in games, and why not. Name it as such, at least those who may not be playing GTA V and may want to voice an opinion could find it.
On topic...Morality for me is far too flexible to even be considered in gaming. Who's morality becomes the yardstick? Yours, mine, Jone's (Yes he has them) No. The choice is there to play or not play, how and what you play does not reflect real world behavior, and if it does? That is not the fault of the game, that behavior has been informed by factors outside of games in the real world.
I thought that I had flushed the fight out of my system, but if someone were to engage me, I wouldn't necessarily be opposed to a bit of opposition (see what I did there?). Just let me know if you're interested and I will start with some highly improbable speculation regarding your heritage and we'll just let nature drag us downhill from there.

You're not the boss o me...morally speaking of course.
Well I look at it this way, I play games so I can relax. I work 6 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. pick up the kids, help with homework, take to rehearsal, girlscouts, tae-kwon-do and gymnastics after that I make dinner for our family while the wife cleans up. I have about 30 min-1 hour that I can unwind. All my pent up aggresion unfortunately does get taken out in GTA 5 or whatever I'm playing. What may be considered immoral I call theraputic.

Outcast, I don't have a psych degree, but I played with one once...I think you need more angry sex perhaps.
Side note are your progeny all girls, or is there a mixture? (if your boy is in the girl scouts, please disregard)

I try to get the angry sex but that ball always ends up in my mouth...
2 girls 5 and 10. My oldest has gotten a part in every play/musical she has auditioned for, for the last year and a half. Vocal lessons are starting next month so I'll get to add that to my list. I don't mind at all, in fact as of late I've been the entire set construction crew. Her performance school is great and I'm happy I can support it with more than just my check book. Pocahontas audition is tonight so fingers crossed.

Speaking from experience I can tell you they'll appreciate your time way more than money.

Or else you end up having to run a skeevy guy off the road in his purple convertible on the Los Santos roads.

Discussions on morality and in this case morality in gaming, are not much different than those on politics and religion. I thought those topics/discussions were pretty much forbidden on this site?

Yeah, that's the reason the first thread was locked up, or it was completely my fault...depends on who you ask. It's basically the same as the other thread. No worries, I'll have this bitch locked down in no time...I'm just waiting for hypocrisy to rear its ugly head.
I've always leaned a little towards letting people discuss whatever, so long as they're adults about it. If someone proves they can't be, then that's cool, they're simply removed from the discussion while the rest of the adults share their opinions. Politics and religion are a little tougher, but morality itself is a little more grey.

Politcs and Religion seem diametrically opposed to me? Religion, in it's idolized form would seem to be pure while politics as most of us have come to realize is all Darth Vader and the dark side...
Communism for instance in it's pure form is almost a religious idealism, you know, sharing with all for all, but in practice it's all dark side as well..
So to sum it up Politics AND communism ARE the dark side, mostly due to people screwing them up. Oh, and they tend to screw up religion as well.
Morals can be based on religious guides, but aren't required as such, the moral compass can be quite a personal thing. Therefore don't confuse them with social norms as those are decided generally by the masses and are not specific to any one's beliefs.
My morals find some of the possible behavior in GTA distateful and so I choose not to partake.

I find it offensive you are somehow a moderator.
I know, right?

Way to miss name a thread...
LOL, way to pick at an oozing sore...geez...
At least Dix is trying...in a way less obtrusive way.

Is this thread even necessary? As you said if it's GTA related put it in the sandbox section.
Umm, never mind...
I agree!

It seems Dix ok'd it for this thread.
