As if you didn't notice, I removed the ability to see thumb ranks on your own blogs.  While some think this sucks (most notably those who like to thumbs down or up randomly) the reason for doing this has nothing to do with someones feelings about witnessing a -1 on their blog.  The fact of the matter is, a blog on this or any site shouldn't have to be about a feature that someone likes or dislikes.  It is distracting to writers and readers and serves absolutely no purpose to the community.

After bouncing back with 5 different hotels it looks like 2old2play will have it's LAN back at the Wyndam Ohare Hotel on August 7th 2009 so SAVE THIS DATE. My worry was always how the economy would effect the turn out and to be honest I wasn't sure if we could pull it off, but it looks like a lot of people are dying to get together with their clans and toss some controllers across the room.  I suppose the best medicine for times like these are beer and gaming with friends.

I never really gave to much thought to the thumbs down fairy.  I knew he/she was out there but didn't really think it was all that important or harmful to bloggers here on the site.  Recently I have seen more and more blog posts specifically about the fairy and it's evil ways.  This struck me as a tad bit odd because I feel like bloggers should be able to blog about what ever they want, but having a blog specifically about the fairy seemed like it might be a sign that the fairy was causing more harm then good.  More importantly a blogger shouldn't have to blog about a thumbs down when there

So the site was running a bit slow for me as of late and I did some searching (thank god for being bored) and found that 5 spammer IPs were eating up 98% CPU usage on the servers and raping a wopping 17gigs of data every couple weeks.  I set up banns for all IP so the site should actually feel a bit snappier as the day goes on.  On another note, all spammers should die in a burning fire of hate.  Thanks.
