9/4/06 - 3 car rollover w/2 people trapped

Responded (finally with my whole crew - Engine and Rescue - 4 guys total ) on a three car rollover accident on the highway. Dispatched advised that there maybe up to five injured. When we got there we were advised by several witnesses already on scene that there were still two people trapped in one car but that all other patients were already out. One of the patients was a 25 yr old female that was 5 months pregnant. As I walked up to the scene, I saw all three vehicles down in the ditch, one on its side and the other two also down in ditch but surrounded by water up to the doors.

8/17/06 Another wierd day at work

Well after starting the day at my station house #2, Myself and one other guy got sent to fill in at Station #1 due to them being short 2 guys for the day. Having 4 stations in the city we get transferred sometimes when others are short - so no big deal. Station #1 is our department headquarters where all the adm. offices and chief are. Normally its not the first pick to go but this day it was ok for me due to a change in districts (I haven’t been posted in this area of the city for approx. 2 months). Nice to see other areas sometimes.

Great day at work 07/24/06

Well, finally a good and funny day at work.

I responded (with my rookie partner) to a simple medical call at a local nursing home in my district. We arrived and found the patient in the lunch room with approx. 50 other people. Our patient was an 85 yr old female who I've run on before for various medicals in the past. No problem with her, we ended up signing her off for treatment and not taking her to the hospital. She was not the "issue" when it came to this medical call...................

Showing the new Rookie how to save a life.

OK,

On friday, ;we got a call for a possible heart attack at a residence. We arrived and a elderly man (70ish) was sitting in a chair "barely" breathing. His wife called 911 because after eating he said he was going to lay down due to not feeling well. She went to check on him and he was blue & cold. Anyways, we started our care/rescue and all the e.m.s. stuff that we do (like Ive done tons of times), but again - this one was different......I had a rookie partner....who has never seen this before.

New rookie started on my Fire Dept. this week.

Ok, Ok. So I havent been keeping up with my blog very much. I still need to be very selective what I write and keep track of due to laws and stuff like that (no names, locations, medical info).

Idea for first blog

Thinking about starting my first blog. What does a firefighter talk about ?. Well how about some of the fire runs I go on. Ok I'll start a blog "log" (sounds funny) of fire runs I go on. Will not be able to give names or addresses or stuff like that but basic details of fire calls I go on.....

Stay tuned for more....
