Step Back from Geekdom

My ten days are up, and I have decided that the World of Warcraft was not for me.  The game was fun, in an Oblivion sort of way, but knowing myself I will never get the value out of it that I would have to pay for the subscription.  I think the value is there, I just couldn't take advantage of it.

The next step towards Geekdom

I downloaded a ten day trail of....World of Warcraft.  I don't know what I'm doing in the game, except killing some miners, workers and vermin.  Parts of it I'm kind of digging.  It's kind of neat to see hundreds of people running around doing stuff.  On the flip side I'm not sure if it's any better than Oblivion.  I need to figure out some multiplayer aspect of it and see how that goes.

I'm going to do some homework for the next few days, see if it's worth investing in.  I'm off to scroll through the WoW forums,

True Hero

I had the privilege last night to have dinner with Mr. Charles Henderson, an author of several books, including Marine Sniper. The book chronicles Carlos Hathcock, a famous sniper in the Corps. I would encourage you to visit the link www.charleshenderson.net. The inspirations page is very well written.

Success

I successfully completed Call of Duty 2 on Veteran.  It took longer than I had anticipated, but it was due less to the difficulty of the game (it was difficult), and more to day to day life.  I think the hardest part of the game for me was the mission that started you out in an ambush in an alley.  That was the only time I felt the game was close to unfair.  But for the most part keeping your cool and learning from mistakes led to success fairly quickly.  On to the next game...

Graw 2...Kinda

My wife had the day off yesterday, and thought she would suprise me with a new game.  I come home and it's on the counter.  She asks "That's the new one right?"  with excitement in her voice.  I hadn't the heart to tell her it was the first GRAW, I was happy that she had been so thoughtful on her day off to take the time to go to the dreaded Best Buy and pick the game up (her thoughtfulness is never fleeting).  I told her it was and I was very grateful which I am.   How fortunate am I?
