YeeeeHaw!!!!

to use someone else's blog title.  But it fits.

The boy and I had a great weekend and today was his first day of school.  We're both a bit freaked out because this is his sixth grade year.  We're close to having "the talk", as his development has accelerated.  The kids has grown nearly an inch a month for the last year, and he's less that a foot from being as tall as his dear Pops.

I should live on the East Coast...

Because August would be over.  This month is friggin' cursed.

Ghosts of Anbar

I am a former Marine.  I still look back on the days that I was in the service with fondness and regret getting out.  I don't mind civilian life; it has been good to me for the most part.  What I miss is the constantcy of my surroundings, both emotional and physical.

I knew my Staff Sergeant would be on my ass if my hair was not within regs.

I knew my buddies would have my back in a bar scrap.

I knew that I always had one shitbird that I would constantly have to stay on top of, or again, the SSgt would be all over my ass.

Whew!

Well, it's been a crazy couple of weeks, and I hope your August wasn't as tough as mine and a few other's were.

Blessings....

Time to count:

1. The wife and I are talking.  Quite a bit.  We'll see.

2. We split the phone accounts, and I'm getting a new Blackjack.

3. The insurance company wants to give me top blue book for my car.

4. I can afford a new car payment, I don't want to, but I can.  Whew!

5. I've got two options, '08 Scion xB with a Camry motor, or a new '07 Accord for a super rate.

6. The boy played with his buddy for hours today and gets to go swimming tomorrow.
