A day in the life of a Captain

Mediaman mentioned he'd like to know more about what my life out here is like, working on the water for four weeks at a time, putting it in a daily blog. I could do that, hopefully you guys won't find it too boring. It has it's moments. This will be a good time to start and it will only be fore the remainder of my hitch, two weeks. So starting tomorrow I'll start blogging about my how my days go.

Heading south for the winter..

I'm sure this won't matter much to most, if not all of you guys, but I'm headin south. I've been up here in the Chicago area now for about five years now, occasionally heading down to St. Louis but never down to our home port of New Orleans. Well we're heading that way now! It'll be nice not having to break ice all winter or worry about the crew getting frost bite, hyperthermia and the like. It's not permanent but at least it's for the winter! The only draw back is we'll be 1100' long instead of our normal 695', well it'll make things interesting.

Meta Game in H3

I've been wondering, how do you check your score in campaign mode on H3 and is the Meta Game just going back through a mission again but with the skulls turned on? I'm trying to unlock more of my achievements and saw that some require getting 15k or more in the Meta Game. Shed some light for me will ya.

what it's all about

I had a couple of great H3 matches last night. Thanks to DaQueen4000,Frank4000 and Kurt, I know I was slowing them down and they could have scored more if I wasn't getting beat down by the other team. I even lost connection a couple of times due to the fact that I'm running online off a suped up cellphone system. Most groups would have had enough and just booted me but not these guys, they encouraged me to stay with em and I did, and it was great. This is what it's all about guys. Not always winning, which we did, but playing for the fun of it and making friends in the process.

future college preps

Being the happy father of three the time is upon me to get serious about putting my kids through college. I am quite certain they will both get scholarships but it's good to have more than too little. So I'm looking at 529's and PACT for both of them. With a 529 the money can be used for anything educational and can be passed onto a sibling, but the money is invested and so if the market does well and you put it in the right place, all is well. PACT is guaranteed. No matter what tuition costs say five years for now, it's payed for in full.
