When Kids Set an Example

Yesterday, my son James was in a basketball tournament.  He usually plays with the 8 - 9 yr olds but because he is a little short for his age, one of his coaches asked him, along with another small 8 yr old to play with the 6 - 7 yr olds because they were missing players.  The other kid decided to take advantage of the situation and score basket after basket.  No passing...just driving to the net.  My son on the other hand, without any prodding from me, put the personal statistics aside and would pass the ball off to the less gifted players even when an easy score was available to himself.

My son's first game

Last night, I took my son to see his very first professional hockey game at the Bell Center in Montreal. This may not seem like a big deal to many but for any kid growing up in Canada, hockey is BIG. During the pre-game cerimonies as we watched the thousand plus names who proudly wore the Canadiens jersey over the last 100 years, I found myself fondly remembering the first game my dad ever took me to. I looked for the names of the heroes back then..Lafleur, Dryden, Robinson, Shutt, Savard, Lapointe, and others.

Sometimes quiet birthdays are the best ones

Yesterday was my birthday. This year though, instead of going out for an elaborate dinner I just decided to have a nice quiet lunch with the family (daughter made me an amazing cake to boot!). Afterwards, I had a few friends over and we all just played a few multiplayer games on the PS3. May not seem like much to many but as far as I am concerned, I couldn't ask for anything better!

Best Christmas Ever!!!

So Christmas Eve, my daughter and son decide to sleep on the sofas downstairs and wait for Santa (9 yrs old and they still believe).  Anyway, I set my alarm for 3 AM and went to bed.  When the alarm went off, I put on my Santa suit and went downstairs with the gifts in a bag.  Both kids were asleep (or so I thought) so I started to put the gifts under the tree.  Then, I hear the voice of my sweet little girl say "Santa?"  I turned, and there looking at me were the most beautiful little wide eyes starring at me in astonishment.  I put a finger to my lips and receive a little wave.  As I fini

Finally!

I finally got my first platinum trophy (playing Infamous) and let me say that it will probably be the only one that I ever get.  The time needed to invest in order to get a platinum is way more than I can spare.  Glad I can say that I have at least 1 though.
