just got back from point pleasant beach so this is short as i gotta go shower and get all the sand off of me.

ok, now that i posted the shark attack summary, here's a list of some things you can do to avoid an attack. but please people, keep in mind how tiny of a threat a shark attack is. to put it in perspective, look at the list of other fatalities.

1 person died. that's it. one. too bad the media portrays sharks as waiting in the shallows to swallow any and everyone who steps into the water.

unfortunately, at least 3 people have died this year. one was a triathalon swimmer in solana beach california. he was probably bitten by a great white. the shark bit him and swam away. he died from blood loss. not because he was eaten alive.

the other guy was surfing in mexico. i believe the bite was attributed to a tiger shark. i'm sure you all know by now the corellation between sharks and surfing.

obviously no one can explain to me the extreme stupidity of some people. all you can do is be responsible for yourself. and maybe unleash an unholy beatdown on the assholes who cause this sort of thing.

Time magazine dated August 4 2008 has an article on coral reefs in danger. it's nice of them to point that out, but what burned me was that it sounds like they give george bush all the credit for creating the Papahanaumokuakea Marine National Monument.

fuck george bush.

i guess it's ok to ignore all the people who worked to make this happen and give the credit to the person who's hardest job was to sign the declaration. i guess he's trying to reverse his status as probably the worst environmentally conscious president ever.

i'm sure many of you have seen pictures or videos of animal cruelty in other countries where they have dogs and cats crammed into tiny filthy cages at food markets where they are flayed, or burned, or gutted while still alive for their meat or fur or for whatever organ may have "medicinal" value in front of the market crowds like nothing is out of the ordinary.

Shark Week did get one thing right: the presence of dolphins in the water does not mean there are no sharks around!

my friend insists that dolphins will attack sharks and thus you are safe in the water when dolphins are around. he's gonna get killed.

larger sharks, like tigers and bulls, eat dolphins. not on a regular basis maybe, but they can and do eat them sometimes.

the problem here is twofold.
