For lunch today a coworker and myself went to Logan's Roadhouse.  As usual, before the meal the waitress brought us a basket of hot rolls once we were seated.  Now, if you've been to one of these places like Logan's, Texas Roadhouse or O'Charlies you've probably noticed this but may not have thought to question it.  Well, I was in the mood to question, so I did.

As some of you already know, I have a lot of TVs.  I mean ALOT of TVs.  I've cut down recently a bit but at last count I was up around 15.  I've also been a loyal Directv subscriber for nearly 15 years.  A while back my Father in Law moved in with us and because he had always had cable and didn't really want to learn a new system, he subscribed to cable even though we had a dish.  Well, after 6 years, he's finally learned how to use the DTV receiver and is ready to ditch cable.  That's fine with me, but it does present a problem.

Tonight is the big Community Playdate!

I'll be hosting one of the Gears of War 2 rooms so be sure to send a FR to "A202proom1" or "Big0ne" (the 0 is a zero) so I can get you in on the action.  I think Doodi is hosting the other Gears room as well, and if both of those rooms fill up, I'll turn over host and start up a third room or fourth etc etc.

If you haven't played Gears in a while, don't worry, neither have I.

Usually, the wife just kinda tags along, goes out to diner with us and sits by the pool all weekend.  This year I was happy to hear that she wanted to get in on some of the gaming action.  Specifically, she wants to get in on some of the Rock Band gaming. 

Ok, actually I already purchased my ticket but I just purchased one for The Librarian1 as well. I also just booked our room for the LAN. Usually, the wife just kinda tags along, goes out to diner with us and sits by the pool all weekend.  This year I was happy to hear that she wanted to get in on some of the gaming action.  Specifically, she wants to get in on some of the Rock Band gaming. 

Back when I was a young sack of bones and hormones I came up with an idea that I thought was brilliant but no one around me seemed to "get."  It was in my high school days and at that time it was all the rage to wear T shirts and get bumper stickers proclaiming "Save The Whales!"  One day in my Government class (taught by the most left wing, Amnesty Int'l chapter leader, granola crunching, Birkenstock wearing, hippie teacher I'd ever had) I proudly proclaimed that I had the solution to the "whale problem." 

"Let's create whale farms" I said.

That's right!  I finally quit putting off the inevitable.  I kept telling myself that I'd wait to see how work was going or if I'd have the extra $ laying around, but I finally got real with myself and decided that those things weren't really going to matter.  I was going to go anyway.  So this morning I finally pulled the trigger and bought my ticket.  Still need to book a room but I can do that after lunch.
