 Well, my daughter is at it again. She's writing a new story (her last story was entered into the L. Ron  Hubbard Writers of the Future contest, was accepted and we're waiting for the results. The contest lasts a full year divided into quarters). It's up to approx. 18,000 words now. It's amazing to see her sit down at the computer and just pound away for sometimes over an hour non-stop. At times the story just seems to flow out of her fingertips. Here's a sample of the start of the new one. Sorry for all the reading. Oh, also this is just the first draft:

 I had a giant rant about my car dying, not getting to see Pan's Labryinth this weekend, bad luck being served to me with compound interest, the almighty gods of "let's fuck someone over" putting me on speed dial and then somehow it all got deleted. Talk about fitting right in with the subject matter. SONOFABITCH! Well, I'm not spending another twenty minutes retyping everything. Screw it.

Movie news: Michael Douglas has a new movie at Sundance that looks pretty funny.

 I was all prepared, on this my 45th birthday, to post a long and thoughtful rant about the clusterfuck that has become my life but then Pan's Labyrinth got "6" Oscar nominations so that will have to keep for another day when I'm in a pissier mood. Ah, hang on.......(insert favourite elevator music here).........ok, I'm back. Sorry about that, my supper was ready. Yes, I know what time it is but I work nights remember? Where was I? Oh ya, Pan's Labyrinth. Plan on taking the kids to see it this weekend. The ex is somewhat leery about them seeing this but they are as hyped about it as I am.
