Medium pimpin'

Remember the movie Face/Off, from the late 1990's? There is one scene early in the film in which Nicholas Cage arrives at the airport before the big John Woo shoot-out. He pulls up in a black 1996 or 1997 Cadillac Seville and looks all bad-ass getting out of the car in slow motion with bad-ass music playing in the background. I have always loved that car.

2old2play Pop Culture Series

As evidenced in my last entry, last Saturday I attended the Rock and Shock convention in Worcester, MA. While there I met up with Waterborn (who also prepared a great write-up of his experience) to shoot an interview with Wednesday 13, lead singer of the Murderdolls. Waterborn spoke about shooting more interviews like this, as huge events are coming to Boston all the time (video coverage of PAX East anyone?).

Hell of a day!

Other than lurking on the forums every couple of days I've been almost completely absent from the site and from gaming as a whole. I'm working on changing that, though. There are a lot of things happening in my life right now, and some huge things on the horizon (more details down the line) but despite all that, I'm trying to get involved.

Entitlement and gaming follow-up

Two quick notes for today... As the director of sales and marketing, I do a number of conferences for my company as an exhibitor. One sure-fire way of bringing people to my company's booth is an awesome door prize. In March of this year, I gave away an HP Mini netbook. Gave the winner my business card and told her to contact me if she needs anything (as in my company's services). The last couple days, she has had a problem in which the netbook's battery won't hold a charge and she can only use it while it's plugged in.

Hooray for kickbacks. Now what do I buy?

About a week ago, I sat through a sales pitch disguised as a marketing research study for a new software tool that will be hitting the applicant tracking market in the next couple months. Normally I would just blow off something like that, but it came with the incentive of a $100 Visa gift card. Told my VP about it (in case accepting gifts from vendors is taboo) and his response was "fuck it, go buy beer with it or something."

Well, f@#k me in the wallet.

Hindsight is 20/20, they say. When I first started playing the game APB, I knew the game posed no threat to console multiplayer or World of Warcraft. APB is a massively multiplayer online game in which players assume the role of cops or robbers, and go fight the others. Great idea in theory, but it was evident from the get go that it had its issues and a limited audience.
