Personally, I do not like country music. I'm not one of those pricks who says my music tastes are better than yours, I just never got into it. But for the last six years I've lived in New Hampshire where it's pretty big.

Over the weekend I was DJing a Jack & Jill party in rural New Hampshire. The crowd was younger and the music I had was OK, but a number of people were asking what country music I had. I looked through my selection and realized two things:

1. I don't have any country music at all.

Rue McClanahan, former Golden Girl star, died today at the age of 76 after a severe stroke.

I'm borderline ashamed to admit this, but I watched Golden Girls with my family growing up. Rue's character "Blanche" was always my favorite part of the show and was a very funny actress.

RIP.

This story has been widely discussed locally here in southern New Hampshire, and seems it's also made national headlines (I've seen mentions all over Twitter and an article on TheSmokingGun).

11 years after the shooting at Columbine High School bullying is alive and well. A month or two ago, a teenage girl committed suicide in western Massachusetts to escape bullying in school. Last week, a 14 year old freshman with learning disabilities was coerced into getting a tattoo in Concord, NH.
