New $600 cure for snow

Well, I finally did it. i bought me a snow thrower. Let me say that the snow-thrower people know how to market. I went into the store intending to buy a particular snow thrower. However, right next to it was a Troy-Bilt, blazing red bad boy that just screamed I AM A MAN! Could I resist? Hell no! I even managed to haggle them down to only $75 more than the one I had come in for.

Who turns down a promotion?

Only a fool, right?  Time to give me my pointed cap.  For I did exactly that today - turned down a promotion.

"But why, monkee, why?  You have stated in many posts that you are more intelligent than fungus, and yet...."

Yes, I admit, it looks foolish.  Let me make it look even more so.  This was a promotion into the organization that pretty much everyone is trying to get into.  The "up and coming" workgroup, so to speak.  And, they approached me, not the other way around.  Most of the poeple who joined this new group a year ago have already been promoted yet again.

Don't mean to do it - do it.

Dr. David Hoch was the greatest teacher I have ever known. Where other professors were condescending, he was always gracious. When he'd heard your theories 100 times before, in a hundred classes before, he always gave them the kind of attention you give a brand new idea.

Oh yeah, I'm Pro baby!

Well, I mean, if using a Wagner Power Painter PRO makes you a pro, anyway. I did exactly that today, and painted my garage, some of the driveway, some of the sidewalk next to my garage, my glasses, the dog, the lawn, and some guy named Rhubarb who apparently lives downwind from me.

Gotta say, loving the Power Painter. It sounds like a real power tool, kinda like a nail gun that fires about 80 a minute. No brush marks, no drips on the wall (although plenty of drips down the side of the tool and onto whatever happens to be below it).

Can monkees have red necks?

Oh yes they can.  But, before I get to that, let's first stop on where the hell I've been.  I'm sure both Codemonkey and the OMM have wondered, or, maybe they've both been glad or barely noticed - hard to say.

Anyway, where have I been?  Well, I've been working on my sister-in-law's house almost non-stop.  She had a bad situation back in late July where her fiance broke up with her and moved out.  Since she can't afford her house on her own, she needs to sell, but, to do that, the house needed some work.  That's what I've been doing.  Some of the projects:

Some call him the Space Cowboy

And some call him Maurice. Clarett, that is. I'm not gonna give him any more undeserved press except to say that he is, undoubtedly, one of the most catastrophic and public falls from grace I have ever witnessed in 39 years on this planet. He had it all in the palm of his hand. Whatever happened to paying your dues? To the philosophy of Fake it 'til you make it?

DS Lite

To the folks who advised me NOT to get a DS Lite, now that I have one, I have 5 words for ya:

You have never played one.

Office idiocy

So, my department (HR) put together a survey to see what all us injuns think about the big chiefs and the way they are running things. Being the fearless type, I told them exactly what I thought. Being the savvy type, I did it in a way that was completely professional and allowed the emphasis to be on the issue and not on any particular person or group within my department.

A reaction to Codes blog

If you havent already read Codemonkeys blog on posting, read that first, then come back here.  I am offering a counterpoint, but not to be combative.  I am offerring it out of pride.  In our clan forum (OMM), we have had, in the past few weeks, two topics that could have easily turned ugly.  One dealt with having religious pictures in a public school, and the other dealt with the current issues in the Middle East (Israel, Lebanon, etc).  Although each thread went into 5 or more pages, at no point were there any rants.  There were some strong disagreements, but they were very civil, and gene

The (DS) lite at the end of the tunnel

So, I had a bit of a dilemma.  As you regular readers know, my "extra" funds have recently been destroyed.  So, Im on track for a 360 early next year.  Now, interestingly, Im getting a $100 Mastercard giftcard at work for some extra work I did for marketing.  With that dough, and the little I have left in the 360 fund, Im going to buy a DS Lite and a few games.  Reaction from my clan was interesting.  Some felt I should not get a DS and should instead put the dough towards a 360 - even though I still couldnt get it until next year most likely.
