Retro DTM (Discussion Thread)
Retro DTM (Discussion Thread)
This series will run on Saturdays at 3 pm EST. Preliminary builds are on my SF. The cars are at PI B500. They have DRAG tires. The races will be with full SIM damage for tire wear (and a little carnage). All races will be at least 25 laps long. Please try out one or more of the "tunes" and give me some feedback. And now, the car list...
BMW E30 M3
Mercedes-Benz 190E
Alfa Romeo 155
VOLVO 242 Turbo
Audi Sport Quattro
Ford Sierra Cosworth RS500
Enjoy the videos..

Sounds fun. Count me in.
Hello,
I am in, if th real life let me! I will take a ride in the 190!

I ran several of the tunes last night on Mugello Club and they were fun to drive and all handled really well. Nice job on the tunes SnappyDee.
This should be a fun series. Which Saturday are we going to start?
thanks for the feedback, Clleti. Was there any of of the cars the you felt had an advantage or disadvantage? As far as the start of the series..I'd like to get some more feedback to dial the cars in a little better. I'd also like to see what the interest level is. And then there is the issue of the liveries. I am going to be doing a lot of replica paints from the cars you see in the video. Replica paints will probably be mandatory for this. It's a lot to ask but I've provided paints before and I'm committed to doing as many of then as I can. Right now the DEKRA number board is on my SF but I have to do up a 2O4F decal for the cars as well. Gotta represent! Lol. I am shooting for 3rd week of January.
I drove the M3, 190E, 155, and RS500 4-5 laps each, and they were fairly close. I set my PB with the M3, and then beat it slightly with the RS500. The 155 seemed quicker to me, but was also a little looser in the corners, so I lost some time coming out of the turns when I tried to jump on the throttle too soon.
I really liked all four cars, and I still have to drive the Quattro and the Volvo. If I had to choose a favorite right now, it would be a toss-up between the M3 and the RS500, but I beleive all of the cars would be very competitive with a better driver behind the wheel.
I can safely say it will be the Merc 190 for me and I haven't run any of them.
Cool, and thanks again. I think that the handicaps will help keep things close. I'm hoping for really close racing on this one.
I'll need some decal help so I'll be posting up some requests on this thread. The first one I need is a good "Diebels Alt" logo and "Baumler Men's Fashion".
Someone already did that Mercedes Snappy. It'd save you some time if they offered it up. Unless you're wanting to do all the cars yourself.
Either way is okay with me. I'd like to have the decal anyway.
Got a room open now if anyone wants to do a few laps?
I see church is making full use of his new tab. Just like me.
@Church. Did anyone join you? How did it go?
I would like to sign up for this please, just trying the different cars now. Cheers Sam
Your more than welcomes to join us. No sign ups yet but keep an eye on this thread. I will create a sign up sheet with race info after the new year.
Is it this car? Not mine, but I can't remember who's, someone in 2o4f though...pretty sure it wasn't Shark.

We had a few guys join but it all got silly playing tag etc lol
Hey R2 DTM's on Laguna is fun!
IT was fun :)
You guys still planning one of these races tomorrow too?
I'd like to join in, I race clean but I'm not very fast.
In my very limited experience I'd say the 190e will have an advantage. I'm basing this off my comparisons of it and the E30 M3. The Merc fits huge tires, and IMO it seems to really help. And it isn't as loose as the M3
Hello,
is that design okay and enough retro? It is a car from 1994, the driver was Sandy Grau.

That is awesome, JD.! Perfect. I'll get my number board to yo somehow.
are the tunes available on someone's SF? I'm interested and I'll try to run a few laps tonight (after 12 NST/10:30 EST)and hopefully I'll be availableto join in. Slow but try to be clean.
Edit: I re-read the thread. I'm a dimwit. I'll check em out on the the SF in the OPost.
That is all

|Edit 2: one of the cars are from DLC, I can still race against I assume.

hey,
Well I found the Storefront and dld the tunes for 5 of the cars, and did 10 laps on mugello with each.
FUN!
even on my own I had a time beating my prev time, and although I know that there is a skew based upon my knowledge of the track as the testing progressed, I found out quite a bit.
I'm not even sure what times I should be looking for on that track with the cars posted, but based upon my (lack of) skill level, they were fairly well balanced.
The fastest for me was the Benz wit hthe BMW and the Ford close. I started with the vovlo, so I know that if I go back and redo another 10 in it, I should show some improvement, based on track knowledge alone.
Hopefully!
I'm hoping to be able to get involved with this series.
Let me know what else I need to have ready for the series. I have the tunes.
Also, it would be nice to have an idea what kind of times I should be posting in order not to be just an obstale for the other racers!
Chris
You're welcomed to join in. Glad you enjoyed the cars. We won't be starting this series till sometimes at the end of January but keep checking here for updates. I will probably be hosting a practice session soon.
Sounds like you have everything you need space :-)
I don't think this event Start's today but someone may do a shakedown?
