[FM4] NASA AIX SERIES THURSDAY NIGHT - [FINISHED]
[FM4] NASA AIX SERIES THURSDAY NIGHT - [FINISHED]
So I've been a fan of the Nasa AIX series since it was started so that's going to be the new Thursday night series
Cars built or available in the US from 1960 to 2002 that are muscle/pony cars are eliglbe. I WILL UPDATE WITH ALL AVAILABLE CARS LATER TODAY-BASICALLY NO VETTES/VIPERS
So like that says that includes a bunch of cars. For sake of our discussion a Camaro or Mustang normally classified as a coupe' is a sedan by the NASA AIX rules.
EDIT SEE NEXT POST FOR ELIGIBLE CARS
PI limit is going to be S630. This is to allow a little more power than an A600.
Required Parts in your build:
Race Weight Reduction
Race roll cage and chassis reinforcement
Race Tires
Race Clutch
Race Transmission
Forza Rear Aero (you are not required to run Forza Aero in front)
Other than that the build is open. Way to many cars are available making spec builds impossible, and I HOPE that part of the fun is in building and tuning your own unique car.
Also please do something with the paint. Keep in mind this is a grassroots type series so please try to see that theme carried over in the paints. There are no Castrol, sponsored cars for example.
I'll add more info on the AIX series, throw up some pictures of some of the cars, put up a track list, and post a few builds/tunes on my storefront.
NOTE that the 2010 Camaro and new Challenger is NOT eligible for this race series.
If you pick a car that is a DLC car please post which one in advance so that everyone can make sure they have the free car from that pack to avoid the VW showing up.
ELIGIBLE CARS:
AMC
Buick
Chevrolet
Dodge
Ford
Note that the Ford RS500 'MIGHT' be allowed, and this depends on if I can come up with something that helps to make it more identifiable as a Merkur XR4TI which WAS available in the U.S.
Mercury
1970 Cougar Eliminator
Oldsmobile
Plymouth
Pontiac
Saleen
Shelby
I don't think I missed anything here but if you have a specific car in mind that seems to fit in with these other cars let me know.
2006 Pontiac GTO is now legal!!
I'm going to save and update this post with PAINT requirements. This will be where I post what is required as their will be a few things.
I will be keeping track of points and handicaps for this series. I'm getting low on credits so I'm going to have to be creative in coming up with prizes.
ALSO, since this is an open build series we will address cars that become over/underdogs with PI restrictions or allowances on the fly. How that will work is that if you have a complaint about the car you are using send me the tune/build you are using, I'll test it myself and have a 2 other guys test it and compare to other AIX cars and then make a change based on that.
If I get no requests/complaints but I see a car that isn't fast enough or is too fast I will REQUIRE the car make a change. Even if it is too slow.
There are a TON of cars available so if you want to have others give feedback on the car of your choice I'll test whatever you build. I'm not very fast but I have an idea of what I run vs what others run on certain tracks and would be able to give an idea how that car stacks up against others.
TRACK SCHEDULE AND RULES
7/18 Road Atlanta
7/25 Infineon Long
8/01 Road America
8/08 Maple Valley
8/15 Sebring
8/29 Laguna Seca
9/05 Indianapolis GP
9/12 Sunset Peninsula full
9/19 Sedona Club
READ THIS:
Races will be single 20-ish lap races with a required pitstop after the midway point. Damage is not on, tires will not wear, but a required pitstop does add a small element of strategy to the race.
Rules.
Points Structure.
1st=100 pts
2nd=90pts
3rd=85pts
4th=80
5th=75
6th=70
7th=69
8th=68
9th=67
and so on.
DO NOT FORGET THE 4 BONUS POINTS FOR THE FASTEST QUALIFYING LAP.
Your TWO lowest points scoring races will drop.
In the event of a tie for points champion the winner of the most "head to head" battles wins. Meaning when driver A and driver B are both in the race and driver A finishes ahead of driver B more often then Driver A wins.
If this isn't enough to determine the tie breaker it will revert to number of 1st, 2nd, 3rd place finishes.
Handicaps. (unlike the BMW series I'll actually keep track properly)
Handicaps as follows.
1-3 place finishers will receive a 5% handicap.
Maximum handicap is 10%
Last 3 finishers LOSE 5%
If you miss a week your handicap still carries over from the last race you ran.
PRIZES
Prizes will be based on contingency awards on a race by race basis. Also at stake are bragging rights and some sort of physical prize. (engraved mug, plaque or something similar)
Contingency prizes are based on your finishing position, and the placement of required decals. A manufacturer decal is required on both sides of the vehicle as well as the front and back. Logos must be large enough to be clearly visible in a replay.
DOT Tire contingencies...Tire manufacturer list includes, Hoosier, Goodyear, BFGoodrich, Kumho, Hankook, Toyo, Dunlop, Yokohama, and Michelin
Prizes will vary based on the tire manufacturer you choose.
Hoosier-500,000 credits for a 1st place finish
BF Goodrich 450,000 credits for a 1st place finish
Toyo 400,000 credits for a 1st place finish
Goodyear 300,000 credits for a 1st place finish
Kumho 250,000 credits for a 1st place finish
Hankook, Yokohama, and Michelin prizes include car feedback based on the current weeks track. This isn't something that many will take advantage of, but I know I would if I were in that position.
Hawk Brake Pad contingency prizes include an assortment of vinyls, and setup feedback.
Agent 47 contingency prizes include 200,000 credits for 1st place finish, and car setup feedback for the current upcoming race. The Catch in this case is that you must be driving either a Mustang, or Saleen to be eligible. There are TWO different decals and both must be displayed. The text logo on the front and back, and the main logo on either the sides, or on the hood. These must be clearly visible in a replay. I have these logo's, and can gift them over just send me a message. T
Stranoparts.com contingency prizes include 200,000 credits for a 1st place finish and car setup feedback for the current upcoming race. Logo is super simple as it is simply the lowercase basic text for the entire thing. This must be displayed on front/back and sides, and clearly visible in a replay. It is acceptable to have it on just the sides if it is rather large. In this case the catch is that you must be driving a Chevrolet.
MOPAR forums.com contingency prizes include 200,000 credits for a 1st place finish and car setup feedback for the current upcoming race. This is a decal on my storefront and I can gift it. I think Fitzy is the only one racing a Mopar and I gifted him the logo. Logo must be displayed on front/back and sides and clearly visible in a replay. Obviously in this case you would need to drive a Mopar.
Pontiac racers will be automatically paid contingency for week 2 if they win since I have not provided a suitable contingy logo for them yet. But I will have it sent for the next race.
If there is a small scale/grassroots style supplier of race parts for the car you choose that isn't a Ford or Chevrolet let me know and we can work on adding it as a contingency prize opportunity for those in the Buick/Pontiac and Mopar selections.
I have all of the Tire manufacturer logos, Agent 47 logo's, and stranoparts.com logo as well as the HAWK logo so message me if you need them.
I also have Grassroots Motorsports logos as well. (see below)
And just for fun if interested..........Grassroots Motorsports is a Florida based Magazine that covers all forms of grassroots racing from the 24hrs of Lemons to SCCA SOLO2/Pro Solo autocross, to SCCA Club racing, Nasa club and "PRO" racing and even Continental Tire series on down, and everything in between.
Cars that have the Grassroots Motorsports Logo in place during various events throughout the country are randomly selected and that photo is placed in the magazine somewhere.
So anyone in this series with a Grassroots Motorsports logo on both sides of the car will be eligible for a "feature" on this site and Forza.net. Basically a photo, gamertag, and some car info will be posted. I think it sounds like fun, but not everyone gets into the little "extras".
BTW I'm counting on Oldschool to participate since the BMW's were for "sissies and yuppies"
Same goes for Gunny too.
I could. We can always start around 8:30 est. The later start was for guys who couldn't make it home in time but since they didn't race the BMW series anyhow we might as well start earlier.
My names bigger Gunny, just sayin'...
Count me out.
Perhaps you should clarify your rules. you mention sedans in your OP. Sedan=4 doors. Yet, in a later post you mention considering several 2 door "coupe" cars. so which is it going to be sedans, coupes, or both?
"Sedan" is the NASA wording in real life. They are simply calling cars with a roof sedans as they allow cars that are often considered coups in AIX. This is also meant to exclude american sports car like the Vette and Viper
So basically ANY 1960 or newer car that was made in the US is eligible.
That doesn't include US manufacturer cars that were not available in the us. For example Ford RS500
Is this a local track kind of series? Looks like a catch all on the car list of immense proportions. Is AMC out, I saw 1960 and up? Also, all versions of Chrysler are in? How about Mercury/Lincoln etc?
Just asking questions at this point.
I'll edit the above later today and just take out the info taken from the AIX rulebook.
Yes ANY 1960 and up US built/available car is eligible. I really don't want to see boats on the track though so the Lincoln and the Impalas are NOT eligible.
And yes the car list will be huge that is why I just don't see how it would be possible to restrict the build.
Sounds like Oldschools going racing!
So, you want sponsors like, Joe's Pizza Shack, Whitey's Used Cars, etc?
Color me intrigued. I'm thinking the 2013 Boss 302 Stang. Is that legal?
No.....I added that up there somewhere. The 99 Cobra R, and 2002 Camaro are the newest cars allowed. The 2005 GT 'might' be available because I don't think it will be too fast (and AIX is starting to see those cars show up), but I really would hate to see everyone in the newest available car.
I'll post some pictures of the AIX cars later today but most cars are sponsored by small shops or companies. For instance Griggs is a sponsor of a few Mustang's. Esslinger Engineering is a small Ford shop that specializes in 2.3L Turbo engine parts and I'll use them if I go w/the Mustang.
Basically find your car, then google "x car parts" on google and see what pops up. "Buick Grand National Parts" for example=Kirban Performance (3rd result under google)
Likely you WILL see small local non auto related business sponsors too I'm sure.
Oh Ok. In that case, I'm thinking 2000 Stang probably. I've already got an excellent A600 build that can be easily upgraded to 630.
I know drivebye is going with the foxbody Mustang.
I think I'm just going to commit to the 95 Mustang unless It is just a hot mess. I have one but never race it so I can't remember if it's any good or not.
Hopefully some guys pick the GM and Dodge/Chrysler stuff too
So it's not quite as grass roots as i thought. Looks more like speedshop sponsorship?
Also to simplify, it looks like all hard tops with a back seat?
Wow, called out by name?!?!?! Im interested. I will be looking at a lot of non ford cars so no worries there. Its a lot of cars to choose from but Im prob going to end up with an odd ball car. Its a part of my nature to build something different!!!
iis there anything in game that shows wheelbase?
(remember I'm a painter!)
Also, without looking at anything yet, I'm interested in the 70 Camaro...( okay, maybe not...)
^^^this LMAO OLD SCHOOL SHIT!!!!
Stewie, figure it out buddy and TELL ME what we're running!
I thinkI have an idea for a local sponsorship...
Stewie's Head Shop?
