No I would not, skype has been around for ages, it came with my computer pre installed, it was on my smart phone pre installed, I don't use it, I have no need for it, I will not use it on a console. Remember...No ifs, no buts, no maybes. That is not a killer App. It's just another thing we can already do.

I guess one less One sale for you.  But if I remember right, you already decided to stick with PC a few months ago.  So it's really no change.

He's also almost as old as me and probably has very few family members with whom to vid-talk on Skype through an XBox or any other device. I know vid-calling from XB1 to anyone is not currently a priority for me but who knows. I like to chat with doodrgunnerjgs once in awhile. Might be cool to use a video. Then again, my wife freaks whenever a webcam thingy gets discussed. What say you Knight? Do you talk to anybody via webcam frequently, seldom or not at all?

I have done it twice, once to a family member and one during the construction of a website. Both times to be honest voice only communication would have done just as well, and in the case of the family member better.

Don't get me wrong I am not saying it is a bad thing, just not my thing.

So how many One sales before you get that bonus?

At least that's the way it sounds and looks to me.

And who would wanna look at Knights ugly mug anyway? I don't blame the guy as far as skype goes. It might be something I might use, maybe, down the road, who knows? I don't use it on the PC, but I might use it with the guys on Forza, maybe. If the system will do it without bogging down, I'd give it a try.

Here's what would really impress me.  If I could paint a car in Forza and Knight could watch me do it, and offer his opnion on what I was doing AS I DID IT. Not that I really care what Knights opnion is on a paint, but maybe I'm painting HIS car? It could happen...maybe...that would be useful to me, and maybe some other people out there as well. BUT, if the damn things looking at me it won't show my screen to someone else...hmm, maybe a mirror...

Just stating the truth.  Also, it behooves the site to have the members play together and that requires having the same systems, which is overwhelmingly the Xbox since the site's creation following Halo 2's release.

That's all.

Sooo I should get an Xbox One because most the people here have one...Hmm. I game with members here solely on PC these days. When the new consoles come out that will still be true. As a gaming forum it behooves this site to support all platforms and game genres.

I still hold out the hope they may remove that thing. wouldn't be the first time they changed their mind now would it.  Yes I am sticking with PC for the next year or so, but that doesn't mean I may not pick up a console during next years sales now does it. Take away the Kinect and it could be the one...Or not, really, who cares? It's just chewing the fat, there is nothing new to talk about.

I have no intention of using Skype on my console.  I don't like using it on PC.  This doesn't change that I will use Kinect on Xbox One for other features though, especially in-game ones.

Call me a shill or use other argumentum ad hominem for me not disliking this new Kinect if it makes things easier.  Its really just an individual opinion, set of interests, and preference for certain features that some others do not share.

Nah, totally different Autarch, you aren't gleefully checking each column on your clipbaord, oops spreadsheet ( didn't mean to techdis you) to see how the console war stacks up like Shadow is. I really don't get why Shadow cares if Knights getting a console, or which, because I'm willing to bet he doesn't play anything WITH Knight now, so what's the diff?.

I get more on this = more opportunites to co-mingle, but people will play what they wanna play, if you're there so much the better, but dudes gonna play what dudes gonna play. This ain't kickball out on the playground, and that's what it sounds like sometimes.

I don't video chat anywhere currently, but I could on the phone, haven't had  the urge. Like I said, if I could find a reason or usefullness for it, I'd probably be all over it. It's not that I hate it, jus  don't have a need or want for it currently. Who knows, maybe I'll get an urge to see Fitzy's knee socks, but I doubt it.

As for Shadow stating the truth, it sounds a lot more like he's repeating what Knight already said...I guess he just likes to hear himself?

I dunno.

@ oldschool. I know you can Skype and Play at the same time so I suppose you just turn the Kinect around to view the TV?

I use Skype now to Talk to the Wife and see the Kids when i'm out and about as they are both under 3 its easier for me to wave and say hello ect.

They dont get freeked out by the "Dad is stuck in that little box" thing smiley

So having the K2 at HD quality will be a lot better for me yes

I have the playstation dildo(move) and it doesn't reflect any light off my television set. And yes, just like my kinect, my move has not been used by me in ages. Once in a great while my daughter will play a game with it.

I would also like to see the video, not just stills. Where did you find these the pictures from?

It was an Engaget review. The reflextion was inadvertently captured. Totally honest side effect of the review, IMO. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvpCdtjTrAo

Xbox will be at SDCC next week (San Diego Comic Con for the uninformed) and Major Nelson has a listing of what they will be showing/saying . The panel I hope that is recorded and put up on You Tube (or like) is the "The Future of Xbox Gaming Revealed", there they will be talking about how the cloud, kinect, and architecture will be used.

Personaly the info on the cloud and architecture pull the most interest from me. But some details(concrete, not theory) of why Kinect 2.0 is worth the extra 100 would help things out a lot.

Looks like a good group to tell the gamers what the cloud and Kinect 2.0 will do on a non tech level, while avoiding a buzzword-o-rama that ultimately told us nothing.

Is there a point in the process of inking a $50M deal at which a person lose focus in his/her current job?

I think any human in the middle of job transition loses some focus.

I've been a member of this site since it's inception, and despite the fact it was built/created around Halo 2 and the xbox,  I'll still be getting a PS4.  The whole "you need to get one because everyone else will have one" argument seems a little juvenile.  I'm looking forward to connecting with members of this site that I haven't had the privelege of knowing, and having all new gaming experiences that previously have been unavailable to me.  I was solidly on the xbone train until their snafu.  After everything that went down, I find it hard to trust them.

I’ll give Mattrick credit for being human.  But even if he’s been phoning it in for months, it doesn’t seem likely that one dude can totally screw the PR pooch all by himself.  Seems more like a total team effort.  Been wondering instead about the looming MS restructuring, how extensive it might be, whether it would have been better for the ONE if it had occurred well before E3 or well after launch, and whether the ONE’s details will really take shape until after the restructuring dust has settled.

According to the report, Microsoft will reorganize to create "functional coherence," eliminating redundant functions and putting more resources behind fewer endeavors. The restructuring will mean a shake-up in the executive ranks, with current Windows co-head Julie Larson-Green expected to oversee all devices from Surface to Xbox One, in addition to music and TV services. Larson-Green has been handling Microsoft's Windows business since the November departure of Windows president Steven Sinofsky.
