Cannot see any issues with Forza players as Forza is a pretty poor game without Xbox live. If you are not a gold member on FM4 you cannot: share paints, tunes, run online, sell stuff on your store front, access the auction house post leader board times, play rivals mode so a day one patch is cool.
“So when you first boot up the game, we’re going to ask you to log in,” he explained. “And when you log in you’re going to get the Drivatars and you’re also going to get a whole bunch of content: tracks and cars. Our production schedule is such that we are putting them in as late as possible and that means making them free as downloadable content on Day One
“[But] that is required content to play the game. We basically have designed the game to work with all that content no matter how late is coming in, in order to make the biggest game possible.”
It blurs the lines between day one TU, day one “free” DLC, and digital distribution. Nifty concept.
Why YOU MUST BUY FORZA 5! You dont know what you are talking about and must be stupid
The real horsepower is in marine engines anyways.
I thought the Navy had the big engines?
So, I missed the T-10 thingie, are they simply stating that they have day one free downloadable content they couldn't get done in time for production or that it's more than they could fit on the disc? Either way, the inconvenience is you have to wait for a large download to play? No big deal, put it in, log in, and go make a sammich, no? Cry me a river on that.
Unless I guess you don't have internet or Gold Access. In which case the games useless? I hope they put that on the case in large bright lettering. I'm sure it'll be on the back in that tiny "system requirements print" where you have to put on your glasses and squint anyway. Or is that just PC games that do that? I never read the cases, because it's a console game and should be able to just pop it in and go... ( this doesn't affect me but I can honestly say I can see where it might affect some).
If LB doesn't have a problem with this, he's heartless...

He continued to explain how subsequent log ins would top up your game with further Drivatars and content, which can then continue to be enjoyed offline.
So for people like us who play Forza and have the internet its pretty sweet. If you dont have the internet well then I hope you dont like Forza. Hey why not Buy a PS3 and get GT6 (Or a PC but then you need the internet anyway (Mostly) )
I hope they put that on the case in large bright lettering.

I HOPE they do this, they SHOULD do that and hopefully your local game retailer was informed of that fact and be able to pass on the info.
But we do live in reality and the assumption that non of that will happen is probably 50/50.
I would also assume you do not have to have gold access to get the update, playing MP is another story. If you are buying the game digitally (are they selling the game digitally?) I would also assume the update would be included.
Why YOU MUST BUY FORZA 5! You dont know what you are talking about and must be stupid
Looks like a very good racing game. I can't get into any of them so far. Couple of trips around the track and I'm done. I get more enjoyment out of racing in Halo than these dedicated games and I have no idea why.

The worst thing about racing games are the folks that play them. I used to play a lot of Forza and couldn't stand doing 50 lap races, in a stupid oval, every Sunday.
Of course, you can say the same thing about FPS players, or, really, any multiplayer-capable game/genre of game.

Yeah I was only jesting. Although the racing on Halo looks fun. Shame I cannot shot for shit though.
If they are doing a digital version and you get the same pre order perks and such, I would probably go digital. The only thing that concerns me about that is that we are no longer talking dvd storage here, we are talking blue ray storage (again an assumption on my part, since I have not seen confirmation that all xb 1 games will be on BR discs) that is going to be at least a 20-30 gb download. Hopefully they would allow you to pre dl the game and not permit access till 12:01 am local time. Otherwise (broadband dependant) you could be sitting there for a while.
I know they have confirmed you can play while the game is downloading, but how much of the dl will need to be completed you for you start playing the game is my question.
it won't be a 30GB download. I have downloaded full PS3 games that are meant for Blurays and for instance Infamous was around 8-9GB. It's super compressed.

Yea but look at Uncharted 3. That bitch was 40 GB.

Defiance was a huge download as well...
That was my biggest concern with going all digital. I'm all for it but with games coming in anywhere between 8-40 GB a 500 gb hdd doesn't seem that big. I really thought we'd see a 1TB drive in these new machines.

I think/pray to Crom they will not restrict the size of attached storage. It would make sense why they are only putting in a 500 gb HD if they are NOT going to restrict it. But I will not throw it out as a possibility of brainfarting and only let you attached 250 gbs or something.
Considering that a Segate 3 Tera byte backuplus is anywhere from 100-120 bucks and is usb 3.0 it is one the easiest ways to add storage without having to sell an organ.
But like a clannie pointed out to me, they could go full douche mode and only allow really big HD external storage as a MS branded deal.

yep..pretty much what I was thinking. I am also willing to bet Destiny will be around this range if not even larger.
Well, if GTA V is coming out for the Xbone, I'm a lot less inclined to get it for the 360.
It's not coming out for next gen... at least no announcement has been made. I think they were relating it to the size it would be to download. Kinda like how L.A. Noire was 6 discs for the 360 before tweaking it to fit on 3. Mybe they were hinting that GTA V is on multiple discs.

Man, gamers are a pretty whiny bunch, myself included, I suppose. Who cares if you have to switch discs? We're at the very tail end of the life cycle for this console. Shouldn't we expect the technology we have in the console to be stretched like this?

I remember in my PS one days when I thought it was awesome when there were 2-3 discs. FF7 comes to mind. MYST too.
We won't see anything like 20-30 GB downloads at the start of the generation, but I won't be surprised to see someone pull it off late in the gen. This is something I could see Square Enix do.
I believe this to be the original:

It blurs the lines between day one TU, day one “free” DLC, and digital distribution. Nifty concept.
Also keep in mind Forza 5 has been created with the original understanding that the One would have a required connection anyway.
That's IT! I'm not getting FORZA 5 now!
j/k Never was anyway.

LB, how much do you want for that destroy button and can you ship outside the continental U.S. ?
I would give my left nut...
having a game system without access to the internet in 2013 is fail.
The line there is really blurred, but it looks like they're just trying to make it all work. My innate BS meter didn't go off.
It does make sense that drivatars and no internet would be like new tires and no air...
