If anyone wants some feedback on their car for this week let me know. We will be at sebring so maximum power! I'll try to build tune my car to overcome the 10%. We'll see how it goes.
I'm changing the schedule a little. The race next week the 8-22 is going to be an exhibition race. You CAN switch your car for this race only but it must be a car eligible for this series. The PI we are going to shoot for is R3 760
Exibition race on 8-22. NON points paying race. This is just for fun and to give us all an idea what a real life AIX car is like.
You are allowed a car change for this race only. It must be one of the eligible cars. 2010 Camaro SS, and the new Dodge Challenger ARE legal for THIS race as well as the ZL1 Camaro, Boss 302 Mustang and Shelby GT500
Rules are as follows.
Must be REAR WHEEL DRIVE (RWD)
Must be R3 800 or lower.
EVERYTHING ELSE GOES!
I strongly advise some of you to make a car change. I suspect that some of the eligible cars won't even make it to a full R3 800. I might even change cars myself to either the 02' Camaro or the 2000 Mustang Cobra R.
This was something I hinted at doing and I think tossing something like this in the middle will be a nice change of pace.
I am thinking of leaving the US for this race and going to Silverstone GP.
I could have picked Nurburg GP or Hockenheim but I'm pretty decent at those tracks and didn't want people to think I was hand picking a good finish for myself. In fact I suspect I'll have a tough go of it because I won't be using TCS. That would only take away from the realism of the experience.
No......I should edit that out. In the NASA rules they want cars that start as live axle cars (with a couple exceptions like the Mustang Cobras with IRS)
BTW everyone, the R3 race won't count towards points but weekly contingency prizes will still be paid.
OK I built an 02 Camaro, 87 Trans Am, and ZL1 Camaro last night. I'm going to build a 2000 Mustang Cobra R, a 95 Mustang Cobra R, the new Dodge Challenger and a 2006 GT0. I will post tunes for the ZL1 tonight, and the 02 Camaro, 06' GTO and the 2000 Cobra R in the next few days. All of these are from 800-1000hp
R3 800 Isn't going to be possible with virtually ALL of these cars. The only way it would be possible is with an AWD conversion which is prohibited.
A few quick setup tips. Toe-in in the rear isn't something to "help" or an option...It's a requirement. For both acceleration out of corners and for stability under braking. More than normal- .5 seemed to work well.
Stretch out 2nd, and 3rd gears especially and possibly even fourth then ramp up 5th and 6th quickly.
swaybars and springs are howevery you might normally do them with the exception of the car can be set up to be VERY tight and the acceleration will make the car turn as normal.
Rear bump set to 1 is a requirement IMO.
Rear diff.....higher than normal decel on the diff. I normally run 15 on decell as a maximum and on these cars I'm at about 35.
Accell I'm experimenting with. I'm actually using and liking 65-80% on accell. My thouhts are that with this much power it's better to have BOTH wheels pulling and not just one. YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO FEATHER THE THROTTLE.
Use a higher gear than you normally would! If you will need to shift before you completely exit a turn shift before the turn and use the higher gear.
(If you go back to the videos of the 1,000hp real life AIX car you will notice him short shifting regularly)
It's fun guys. It won't be the easiest or likely the cleanest race but It will be fun, it is a challenge, and it gives you a good idea what a real AIX car is like. (The car that has won the national championship the last few years has over 1,000hp at the rear wheels......That's 12-1300hp at the flywheel!)
One other thing. PLEASE try to run with TCS off.
If you use TCS for everything then this probably isn't the time to shut it off. BUT, if you are kind of on the fence about dropping it all together and/or you already don't use it, or rarely use it try to keep it off. This race is for fun and the experience of a real AIX car. What you gain in experience and fun will outweigh the reduced competitiveness.
I have a car i've setup for this AIX race. The Buick Regal GNX, where would i find out average laptimes for dirvers in the races so i can tune to try an keep up?
For the series race. Im running 2:20's on sebring, hope thats fast enough.

It's probably just a little off the pace, but with so many others running a handicap you are probably in the ballpark.
If you are interested there is a tune up on my storefront that I was running consistent 2.16's in. Potential for 2.15's. It's a little tail happy but it's necessary for this car/track combo IMO.
Several others will be running a 5 or 10% handicap so this car should do well for you.
I ran the 95 Mustang and the ZL1 Camaro around Silverstone and was running 1.56's and 1.57's
I'm not particularly fast there though. I'm guessing with practice I could get into the 1.55's. I ran the ZL1 at Rd Atlanta and got into the 1.22's but that's probably my best track. (All of this with the R3 cars)
I posted an R3 95 Cobra R and an R3 ZL1 Camaro on my storefront. The ZL1 is very fast the Mustang is pretty easy to drive.
I'm currently not in this series but was wondering if I could run in this exhibition race. Sounds like fun, built the Camaro ZL1 and ran 1:54s at Silverstone.
Yea I had a crappy migraine and couldn't run at Sebring. Really wanted to hit the track with the Nova too, but with 10% handicap don't know if it would of held up.

Also, if you guys build a car and we can run a quicK 5 lapper in the R3 cars after this thursdays race at Sebring.
As long as we don't run late at Sebring. I don't want to take a bunch of time away from Thursday Night Madness!
I'll take care of it late tonight![1 1](http://www.2old2play.com/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/_(1).gif)
so i noticed the rs500 is sort of pending for the series is it allowed for the r3 race?

With that said I WILL FORCE OFF stability control

The Buick can be very competitive based on my testing. You MUST pay attention to the powerband and shift much, much earlier than you would other cars.
For the series race. Im running 2:20's on sebring, hope thats fast enough.

Heck no! It's going to be AWESOME!
Nope
Did 5 laps in the ZL1 at silverstone. I like it!!! 56's - 57's. maybe we could run em at Sebring this week? Maybe finish the series with them- doh
I'm currently not in this series but was wondering if I could run in this exhibition race. Sounds like fun, built the Camaro ZL1 and ran 1:54s at Silverstone.
Sure!
If anyone kept a copy of last nights replay I would greatly appreciate a copy of it. Adikt4lfe XBL if you're feeling generous.
Ya I would like to get it too.
Congrats Drivebye![yes yes](http://www.2old2play.com/sites/all/libraries/ckeditor/plugins/smiley/images/thumbs_up.gif)
Had a grest race. The GTO loved Sebring
Sorry I didnt make last night Max I fell asleep :O I feel so ashamed lol
Lightweight! lol
No worries. Plenty of other races to join
