With the steam summer sale just ending, I now have Borderlands, Borderlands 2 and Civ IV to keep me busy. Also the V8's at GBR. You guys all have a good break.
Can't wait for the break to be over. I ordered a TH8RS shifter and it showed up on Saturday. I had to remap my pedals and wheel and buttons on wheel again, but once I got that all worked out this thing is amazing!. I switched it to the sequential mode for the BTCC and V8's I run, but I am looking forward to getting the historix mod and running the H patter. I haven't driven a stick shift IRL in about 15 years.
This shifter works way better than the one that comes with the DFGT. The one on the DFGT is just a click up/down but with the TH8RS I really have to give it a hard tug/push to get it into gear.
Sounds awesome! I could be mistaken but I believe you need gtl the game to run the historix mod. As for the btcc i can't wait to get back on the track with you guys and also can't wait for the season to end so I can get out of the audi not sure how the other cars in the mod are but I find the tire feel and sound uninformative
You don't have to have GTL to run Historix, you just need it to finish installation of the mod. It just needs to see the cert that you do have the game. I got my disc cheap off Amazon (<$10). You can get get an electronic certificate as well. If you have it installed via Steam, there is a way you can get authentication to complete the install process, but I don't recall the exact steps off the top of my head.
The Historix mod is for rFactor. But the install of the mod (for rFactor) requires verification of "ownership" of GT Legends, due to an agreement between the mod creators and SIMBIN. The Historix models are based off the GTL models, they were not built from scratch (though a lot of the stuff has been overhauled), hence the agreement. It's only needed once during the install. If you know someone you can borrow it from, that will work also.
Iam still fairly busy and I wanna wait till we do our winter bid in the next week or 2 to see what my schedule will be for the next 6 months. If it changes I might need someone to pick up hosting duties, thou hopefully it will stay the same or similar. I also started doing 1 week on 1 week instead of just weekends off so if the guy iam doing this with holds his shift we might continue so ill have to plan the race sched to land on my weeks off.
I was just looking for somthing cheap and mid range performance, I had bought a new case a couple of weeks back and planned on using existing components so I ended up getting:
AMD FX8350 Black Edition CPU 4GHz/4.2GHz Turbo (turned all the turbo crap off and it's running at 4.4GHz on stock voltage just now).
Asus Sabertooth FX990 R2.0 Mobo
8GB Corsair Vengance 1600Mhz DDR3 (9-9-9-24) but I plan to buy an additional 8GB this weekend.
This new stuff coupled with my existing Samsung 840 Series 256GB SSD, 650W Antec TruePower Trio PSU and KFA2 GTX580 1.5GB GFX Card it should make a good upgrade from my old SATA 2 C2D E8600 3.3GHz setup that I've been running since it was top end in 2008/09. The new board has SLi so I can always pick up another KFA2, but at around £200 second hand it may be a bit of overkill for rF and Race 07 :-D
I'm currently using a 32" Panasonic LDZ 85 HDTV @ 1080p as a monitor and it serves me well.
Nice Mapo, not far off my build. I do run Turbo to get the max out of the processor, but it looks like you got one that runs faster than stock out the box, nice result :)
I would love to join you guys if you start back up soon. I received my wheel and pedals on Monday and my wheel stand is due to arrive on Friday, so I should be prepared to drive soon. I have been doing a little driving on Race 07 with the new wheels on an improvised setup but the desk I use is not good for using the wheel and pedals. I will probably get rfactor by the weekend. If there are any mods I need to begin in a series with you guys, let me know.
I will wait until I am at least a somewhat competent driver before I race anybody in multiplayer, so however long that takes me.
I bid this tues......Iam currently looking at 3 shifts as iam trying my best to get off midnites so 2 of them are afternoon 4x4 starts which would eliminate my full time hosting abilities and make me a drop in racer when i can make it the other shift is an over night 4x3 with weekends off and ill still be able to host. The afternoon shifts are slim but i and my health and happiness can only hope for :)
Anyways will see for now id like to get a head count for those that will be returning for the second half and if anyone is capable of hosting if needed :)
Well I wasn't able to hold my weekends off shift and had to resort to plan F so I won't be able to host or attend the sat btcc series anymore :(. If there's enough interest still and some one could pick up the duties it would be greatly appreciated!
On the upside I don't have to work midnites anymore and my shift ends the same day I start and I get to enjoy a full 3 days off :)
Arse...Don't think anyone has the needed bandwidth apart from you, might be able to get one of the GBR guys to throw up a server for us now we are using rF1. Need to know we have the numbers to make it worth while asking first.
Hopefully someone will step up if we get a show of hands, tho I have only seen 2 or 3 guys post here since the starting of the break....might have to send out some messages. The forum has been a tad slow since summer started.
anyways I hope you had a good trip :)
man alternative could be an early afternoon race time wed- fri 2 or 3 pm my time?
With no racing, there won't be much activity. What is your time zone again? have a feeling that may be just about doable, somewhere around 10pm my time.
Yeah mate, was a great trip, just to be away from the day to day normality of life for a while, and you can't get much further from normal than the Sahara.
+one on The September restart.
Summer is here and i'm always out on a Saturday now.
Sounds good to me. See you Jive Turkeys in September!
September works for me.

I would just get the historix mod for rfactor. Who knows I might run with the guys at GBR.

Ok, thanks for the heads up about the GT Legends having to work with rfactor. I never knew that about that mod.
When are we racing again?
Getting the itch
+1 church! Let's get this party started back up.

ill keep you guys informed
I've just upgraded my PC over the weekend and I bought rFactor a couple of weeks ago so I might jump in for a few races to get accustomed to rF!!
Ran a couple of races of the BTCC pack with the AI at 110% and I was quite impressed, loads of fun!!!
Very cool! So what did you get. I am looking at upgrading my cpu/mobo/ram before getting a new psu.

My need a full upgrade soon

Best way is to just race with us. This is a FUN league!! Sure we race for points but it is mostly about having fun and getting better.
Here is a post from a different thread about installing rfactor lite for each mod.
