A miserable Saturday spent reprising my role as a neolithic shaman, the shoes supplied were at least two sixes too small. Must have been the acting performance of the decade to keep a smile on my face all day. Still the pay was not bad and I was able to do a bit of vital networking to aid a future project. A little more work this season, but not enough. Still there is light on the horizon, fingers crossed...

The Neolithic Shamen were a great band, was that the late 70s or early 80s I can never remember.

Haha.

The last couple weeks have been brutal.  Busy as all hell, go home wiped at the end of the day.  Though I guess the upside is, the weekend feels like it gets here faster.

Yes we are talking around 2500 to 5000 years ago, just as farming was being discovered and replacing hunter gathering as the main way of survival. Hence I guess the habit of marking their place with stone monuments, not much point in that time and effort if your on the move.

Latest news from the land of Knight...I have the keys to a new house! Yes the move mentioned some time back is actually going to happen, with absolutely minimum effort on my part and the wonder of word of mouth we have lucked onto a four bedroom bungalow next to a lake at the astounding rent of €200 a month. It's very clean, and well maintained and in a lovely spot. Seems the landlords son has a recording studio in Dublin so when I asked about moving out the beds from the bedrooms as I would be using them as a studio and of course a room for the race rig he didn't bat an eyelid and said he would take out anything we didn't need. So although it is a smaller place than we have we wont be swimming in furniture we don't want and that should balance it out a bit. Mrs Knight is like a dog with two tails, she will go from a pokey damp and rather moldy kitchen to a large bright well laid out one. One downside is my internet situation could be worse, that will hit my Sim Racing hard, but I said from the off it we found somewhere that ticked every other box well enough I would make that compromise. This one has everything else, location spot on, size just about optimum, price amazing, condition of house very good. I could see she wanted it so...Well you know what they say, happy wife, happy life. I can set about seeing what I can do about internet when I get settled.

Anyhoo here it is

It's stinking hot here today. This is the time of year my wife starts on about air conditioners. Something we only need about 6 days a years. My ears are closed.

Unusually dry though, so it's not all bad.

Been a bit busy...

So unwanted furniture being moved out tonight, rooms measured for installation of Studio and Race Rig rooms. It's going to be tight and I will have to be creative but hopefully the end result well be worth it. I am banking on not having to work around unwanted bedroom furniture as I am now will make up for the smaller space. Sodding ridiculous that two people can take up a four bedroom house and still be wanting more space.

Actually Studio first, the race rig stay assembled for use here until the last day. The Rig has a room all to itself in the new place. Lucky sod that I am I have three rooms all dedicated to my toys, two for the Studio and one Game room. So when I say how can two people want more space...

Well happy 4th to you US types, just a day here. A mixed sorta day, managed to have a wee prang in the moter, totally my fault was moving forwards while looking in my rearview, trying to line up with a parking space, a car that I thought had driven off...hadn't, and I bumped into him. No damage to mine I can see at all but it cracked the other dudes bumper. New bumbers (Fenders) can be silly money but he was a decent type and said rather than go through insurence he knew a bloke that would sort it for him for around €80 and he would be happy at that. Well that suited me, my own stupid fault and getting away with €80 and no damage to mine...Good enough for me too. Then went shopping, there is a pick up point were someone can wait with the trolly full of shopping while you get the car, you drive into the pick up point load up and go. Some selfish cheapskates park there and then go into the supermarket, it saves them an entire 40c and a 15 second walk. This happened today and I was not in the mood, I waited for them to get to their car and vented, big time. The air was blue...felt good, I hate lazy fecking thoughtless gits like that.

Then back to the endless seeming job of moving, just shifted all that stuff that follows you around so far, all stuff that gets used just not often, winter cloths, camping gear, christmas stuff, paperwork, bedding etc etc, doing it via the car means much backwards and forwards, time consuming and it seems there is more stuff here than we started with, the effect of the inevitable chaos of a gradual move. Mate of mine coming over Sunday so that will be a day for shifting the studio and some of the computer tech, and some of the not needed day to day larger bits.

Nice to sit in the new kitchen (huge) looking out the window watching the organic grass cutters (sheep) get on with the job of mowing (eating) the long grass of the medow that is part of our land with the house.

Now back at the old house with a spag boll...and methinks some 'erb

That I have power right now, is a miracle. Blinking lights are the norm this morning.

Worst gusts I've seen, excepting Hurricane Juan.

Holy Crap! It's still very windy here.

127,000 without power in Nova Scotia. Similar in New Brunswick. Lights still flickering here. Damn lucky to have power this long.

I wonder if the storm damage will keep my brother and sister in law from going up there?
