Okay, so Wal Mart's advertising some big XBox One Halo package thingie for $329.00, Halo everything? I'm not what one would call a Halo fan soooo is this worth the madning crowds for what I see as a $20.00 savings?
Bought the wife an Asus A10 computer few weeks back instead of an Xbox so I'm still looking somewhat...
It depends on what your time, energy, and blood pressure are worth to you. I'd pay $20 more if it getting it elsewhere was less stressful, but that's just me.
Yeah, that's me. I'd even get it online and wait for it to ship. I have a cert exam first week in December so I think I'll wait till after so I'm less apt to NOT study....did I mention I preordered Forza 5 Limited Edition waaaaay back and it's still staring at me up there on the shelf...
Forza's kinda like that, or was at the onset. I hear it's better now.
Those of you that are inclined, a prayer for my Mom, she's in the ICU and most likely won't make it out. You guys are my extended dysfunctional family ya know.
I'm sorry to hear about your mom, OldSchool. Glad you're finally getting a new console and I look forward to wrecking one of your nice, new cars at 60 frames per second.
Forza 5 is a great game, I'm personally burned out on the series. They took a lot of things away in FM5 that where in 4, but to me the cars seemed to handle better. I was putting some great times on the LB when I had it. If I still had an Xbox One, I'd be getting MCC, but maybe some day down the road I'll pick one up again.
First...Sorry to hear that OldSchool. My thoughts are with you and your family.
Negative gamers...Hmm maybe if the developers stopped using first releases as test beds for their bugged to fuck games we would be a little less negative?
In other news I got my Camera drone the other week, the Phantom 2 Vision+ ver3. What a great toy, real easy to fly in GPS mode. This mode enables it to hover rock steady in the air with no input from the user, just maintaining position via it's GPS link and built in compass. If all goes pear shaped and you lose contact with it, it flies back to it's take off point, or your last known position depending on mode and lands itself. It does the same if the battery is low and you have not flown back yourself. The camera is on a motorized 3D gimbal that keeps filming steady as the drone moves...All in all a piece of cake to fly. Of course if you have experience in flying you can fly in manual mode as well, but I'm sticking to GPS mode for the moment. It's a lot of hard earned readies flying around in the sky. The app that comes with it to run on phone or tablet gives you a first person view from the camera as well as flight data like amount of satellites logged onto, flight time, battery level, height, distance from you etc and gives you control over the camera functions. All in all a lot of fun :)
My mom passed away early this afternoon, quietly, in her sleep as it were. All things said, probably about the best way to go I guess. Thank you all for the kind words.
Words have power, never forget that. Except may Joneses...
I was the only one there but I'm all the family she had really other than my wife. ( Who is rightly needing nominating for sainthood. If anyone can pull some strings let me know)
What's fun like that cost Knight? ( can you convert $US?)
Not that it matters, I'm broke for the forseeable. This is the third parent I'm burying that didn't have anything in place. (First two were in-laws.)
My Dad and my Grandmother are still above ground and doing ok near as I can tell, Grandmother's 94! Both have SOMETHING in place.
IIf ANY of you haven't put something in place, something aside, SOMETHING, do it now, for someone elses sanity, NOT your own.

I need a drink.
A lot of that going around. Condolences. Father in law had most of his cemetary stuff looked after but the funeral was left up to us. His family is small so not much was required. Gravesite service etc. Half will be paid by Canada Pension Plan the rest will be from his estate (we are covering it for now). He has a Will but it won't help much more than just going to probate with nothing. My wife and her sister are the only family mentioned and my wife is listed as Executrix. Our biggest problem is cleaning out his apartment ..... yeah, nuff said. Very big job.
My Wife and I have plots pre-paid but now we know the rest of the story.
FYI. Being totally pre-paid isn't the be all to end all either. Divorces, separations, one partner dying much earlier than the other can fuck up all of the preparations.
In Canada we can have joint bank accounts with trusted family members as well as other account types with beneficiaries. The money goes straight to the survivor. You can put funeral money in there. Not a perfect solution but the money doesn't get tied up in the estate.
My parents funerals are apparently all looked after and my older brother has Power of Attorney plus he will be Executor.
FYI. If a person brings home a Cremation Urn, a problem can crop up at a later burial. Cemetaries require a chain of custody and cremation certificates. Try and find that info decades later.

I didn't know about the chain of custody thing, kinda weird. The bank accounts thing I'm aware of, practiced down our way.
Just got done with the first run at cleaning out apartment. Big job, and I was lucky to have a friend of mine and his wife, a couple large strapping young men and a girlfriend of theirs to help the wife and I. We blew thew a significant portion of it, and will be doing more Friday I guess. This is the third parent to go, every two years it seems, and all in the fall season. Kinda kills the holiday spirit.

Old truly sorry about your mom please send my condolences to your family. If you need to please don't hesitate to ask
Sorry for you loss Oldshool. I lost my mother whan I was 14, never knew her as an adult. One of my only regrets in life.
As for the drone, upwards of $1000 and then of course you start looking at extra batteries to extend flight time and...well you know yourself. You can enter at about half that with the Phantom FC40 or there is a new model that I will be looking at, the Phantom Inspire this is closer to $3000 but can carry a bigger payload, and looks like something out of Terminator. Also duel control so one can fly while the other operates the camera. Down facing cameras seperate from the actual film camera monitors its attitude to the ground in real time making it one of the most stable platforms on the market.
Sorry for your loss Oldschool. That she passed quietly in her sleep is probably a blessing. My Mother passed the same way. I just didn't have time to get to her bedside in time. Things happened so quickly.
I'm sorry that for your loss, OldSchool. Her suffering is over but you have some fresh wounds that need tending to...make sure you take care of yourself, amigo.
Large or small estates always take a lot of time to settle.
I don't mean to brag but I had my first prostate exam yesterday, cracking the walnut. I guess you don't really become a man until your doctor congradulates you on a healthy prostate.
I'm a bit pouty about the game myself. Bought this damn Xbox one just for MCC. I feel like an asshole convincing hubby to spend that much money on something broken. ARG.
I thought it was the cold weather?

Wow I thought you were all into Forza?? I tried to play the new Halo the day it came out, but it's broken. So, so very broken.

Sorry to hear about your Mom Oldschool. Prayers your way. Mine passed away 3 weeks ago so I kinda know what you are going thru/will go thru.
Sorry to hear OS, Achy.

I hates digital exams.
It was just like Fletch, "you got the whole fist up there doc?" And he sure took his time...
Just saw an article the other day that said that particular procedure was kinda irrelevent with today's advances....I didn't read it.
I was trying to fend off his advances...I thought to myself, is this what having sex with Bill Cosby is like?
I found a picture of Deep online after he couldn't play MM on the Halo MCC.
Pretty much. A depressed demonic look would have been better.

No worries ZK, the money isn't wasted. More games will come out. Some will be good. Moving forward is the nature of this video game habit.
Hey Kat I bought a game and haven't bought the console yet...
Although I have a friend with employee discount at Wal Mart.
