At launch it will take only a single match to determine control of a planet. This will very likely change in the future, requiring sequenced matches to control a planet. Another interesting tidbit to note is that the community warfare aspect of the game will not be implemented until a short time (within 90 days) after launch. It sounds like this will create an early free-for-all period during which control of planets is essentially meaningless (other than bragging rights), but that is still unclear at this time. Regardless, that situation will only be temporary.
I actually like the sound of this, it allows people to get used to piloting and what roles they serve best in.
I had approve friends before adding checked in profile, but never received any notifications. I unchecked the box so anyone can friend me. Maybe try again? I noticed it's a known forum bug after looking at other posts.
FYI, for anyone who is having buyer's remorse over which Founder's Mech they chose, you can change your decision.
Go to the Founder's page (http://http://mwomercs.com/founders) , under the "Founder's Mechs" column, click on "Choice of 1 Founder's Mech", and it will allow you to re-think.
Thanks Polteglce, looking forward to launch day.. I'm actually stuck between games, playing D3 to fill time but argh.
Patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue, patience is a virtue................
I'm hoping that the scout role plays out well, I'd love to fit into the niche, a fast mech, jump jets, a narc or similar plus some lasers to have a poke at rear armour with.. nom nom.
Might look at modifying the founder jenner, 7/11/7, 4 Medium Lasers and a Narc.. should be able to wrangle something to that effect out of the chassis.
Other than that, think i'll be looking for a fast heavy, something like a Dragon or similar. Good speed with a decent payload.
Actually I've been playing Battlestar Galactica lately, just to pass the time. No expected mech release this week, that makes me sad. Less than 1 month to upgrade to Legendary. I'd spend from now to release day trying to decide which mech I want if I change now. Another $60 to the devs. to save my indecisiveness is a good way to save my sanity. Welcome Emory!
Battlestar Galactica...I was actually wondering if that game was still around...I played it initially and thought it was okay. Has it improved?
I'm a big fan of the Thanatos...Jagermech...meh. Was really hoping for a Thunderbolt...still am. Also don't care about Urbies...but I feel like it might be a good addition.
As far as which mech to choose...well, I'm a fan of the Dragon in that bunch...Atlas too. But, I think the lights could be a lot of fun. I'm thinking a Dragon and outfit it like a TDR-5S (Large laser, 3 medium lasers, LRM-15, SRM-2). Although...I do like a nice AC10.
Yes If they do the light mech role well there wont be any shortage of people wanting to playt it. It has the perceived possability of being the rockstar or the mechwarrior universe.
The only thing limiting this game are the arenas. Once people get to know them, strategies may become repetitive. I certainly hope not. Wouldn't it be nice if certain terrain aspects (not just whether its raining or not) could randomize. That way when you went into the m,atch it would be different everytime. One can dream.
Well, being a free to play arena (done correctly) should allow them to continue creating content, i.e. new maps, mechs, etc.
In fact this is one of the key advantages to the business model. As time has shown, there are not many companies who can create a game, charge for it upfront, and continue to charge a on going subscription. The number of dead and failed MMO's is almost amusing.
I just hope there is sufficient interest in the game to keep content coming at a regular pace.
I've been replaying MW4, but I keep running into game crashes at specific points in certain missions. I do need the practice getting used to my joystick, though.
Other than that, nothing to do but wait until August 7th, and/or hope for a beta key.
Locust isn't happening either, unfortunately. Man, I'd love a Warhammer. So many good memories, but no dice there either.
Zeus would be neat, but a bit of a surprise, since we already have the Awesome at 80 tons.
Slots are missing at 30, 45, 55, 75, 90, and 95 tons. Probably don't need 75, 90, and 95. Something at 30 and 45 would be nice, though. I'm not up on which mechs are used frequently by which houses, though more nods to specific houses would also be appreciated, I'm sure.
At 30 tons, Javelin maybe? I hate to say UrbanMech, because...come on. Not thrilled about the Hermes.
At 45...Hatchetman would be fun, except for no melee. Vindicator or Wolf Trap maybe? Yeesh, this tonnage is a wasteland.
55 might be the most important, as the heaviest medium? Or maybe that won't matter. Shadowhawk is highly unlikely, unfortunately. (Though I always thought the LRM 5 was weak.) Not looking good at this tonnage either. Dervish maybe? Griffin & Wolverine are unlikely. Wow, I didn't realize how sparse the medium tonnage range is.
Edit: Maybe an Orion at 75? Annnnd...apparently I picked out almost the same set of mechs as Kurupt.
Myself I will be looking for mechs with thin profiles, and smart accessory placement. I really can't remember names or specs from when I played mechwarior 2 and mercenaries. But I always liked the ones that provided little to hit but still had a decent balance where everything else was concerned.
Yeah if you can put a NARC missle beacon launcher on that thing as well as an ECM suite you and a Catapult could do some serious damage. Spider comes in and lights up the mechs standing in defense of a base and the 'pult sends a few greeting cards before the Spider picks up the flag.
Is the legendary founders pack even close to worth it?
The $60 one gives ya 2 months premium acct, $80 ingame cash and a mech Valued at $115
$120 one gives ya, 3 months premium acct, $80 in game cash and 4 mechs. Valued at $170
Why not buy 2 $60($120) ones and use have 4 months premium, 2 mechs, and $160 in game cash to buy the mechs you want? Valued at $230
Just feels like a bit of a rip off on the legendary pack. am I missing something?
You are paying to have you name in the credits.. and its about supporting the game more than value for money I guess. But yes, it's a lot of money. I figure, f2p, i normally spend anywhere up to $100 on titles that I play for 2 weeks and never touch again.
If I can get into this for any decent length of time.. no biggy.
I still do not have you listed as a friend yet I friended you already Divine Retribution.

Hi Emory! Welcome to the site and these illustrious halls of glory!

Do you guys have a background in CBT?

There was a battlestar game? WHoa!

Hi Emory, welcome to the band of merry mechwarriors.
Thanks Raven!
Everyone read the last post?
http://mwomercs.com/news/2012/07/323-average-day-in-beta
So looking towards August 7th, does the group have a ventrillo/mumble/teamspeak server we can use to coordinate?
26 days to go!! :)
Nope but I did now that you shared it. It was pretty awesome. I can't wait.
Might have a vent or something ... korupt said something in an earluer post that we have a guy around who will let us use his server.
Quiet. Too quiet.

They will be announcing a new mech tomorrow.
Anyone want to speculate as to which one?
I think it will be a Javelin, we're due another light mech
My Medium would be a Dervish
And a Zeus as a Heavy
A Med or a Light...wouldn't a Locust be cool?
I'd love to see that Warhammer in game. Not going to happen though.
Locust isn't happening either, unfortunately. Man, I'd love a Warhammer. So many good memories, but no dice there either.

Light: Mongoose, Spider or a Mercury.
Medium: Griffin, Assassin, Wyvern
Heavy: Orion, Zues, Grasshopper or Thunderbolt
Assualt: Hmm.. Banshee, Cyclops or a Charger for shits and giggles.
I don't really care, be happy with anything :)

Cheers to destruction!
AND THE WINNER IS:
THE
SPIDER

So if I was playing the scout role... this would be my ride.
Love the look.
Really like what they've done with the design...usually the Spider is one I consider least physically appealing...the Jager too.
yes very nice looking mech indeed.
