Parcells, what's up...don't like the classic cars?
eehh could take or leave them Snappy. They're frequently "muscle like" cars which is my least favorite of cars but to be honest, over the years Parcells has definitely learned to appreciate the effort involved in managing your throttle control, it is very satisfying to do it well (I'm not often satisfied :)) But Parcells still prefers throttle control of traction vs. engine where muscle like cars will try to kill you.
If you keep it between us, It's really not so much that I actually do not like classics (or muscle mostly) they're simply not my favorite which are cars that stick to the track (i.e Lotus like :)) Parcells just don't want to race them frequently and because I'm so shallow it provides me enjoyment making fun of others like those NASCAR losers right?
Oh, I see. I typically like to run the older sports cars. Some of them actually do stick rather well. I think you might like some of them. I'll have to send you a Lotus I have. You might like it.
Ill be in business soon. Downloaded updates and saving the game to the hard drive now... Just have to decide on a PSN ID. I'll let you guys know what it is soon.
EDIT: PSN ID is, yes...you guessed it... SnappyDee.

Snappy, I just sent you a FR from my PSN ID, Zero7159. I will start sending you cars as soon as you accept my FR.

Welcome to GT5!!!
Cool, I'll be back on later to check for it. I also have to see if I still have a mic so I can communicate with you guys. I scored a new copy of the game for 20 bucks. It's the GT5 XL edition. Came with some free DLC. One of them was Spa. Ran there with the SLS AMG. Used the wheel. It's was very cool. Cars feel very different from FM4. Not bad, just different.

Lawyer, what settings do you use on the wheel?
On Wheel Settings:
SENS = 900
SHO = 100
FFB = 100
ABS = 80
Dead Zone = 10 (very important, otherwise you will feel rattling on the straights)
Did some driving last night and leveling up. Very different from Forza. Thanks for the cars, Lawyer. I also got quite a few "bonus" cars from the game. I absolutely love Spa! Monza is really cool as well. I will probably get on again a little later (EST).

Have not sent any yet, since I needed you to accept my friend request, but I will start tonight. I am limited to one gift car per day, with a value of less than $1 million. I will gift you some cars that will help you with the seasonal events. Those are the best sources of cash and experience points.

I have bought the DLC for the complete pack and the Honda :)
so I will level up, practice on the pad, do a few races etc and then as soon as my wheel arrives can have some fun Learning these cars and tracks a little better.
Ive sent you guys a friends request as suggested, sorry about my usernames, I genuinely thought I'd be offline (have been since I got my ps3) :)
ill try and get n this Thursday's if you are on, I'll practice on spa in the mean time :)
pill need to buy a ps3 headset I assume? I can't remember if mine came with one.... Any suggestions on a good one? I jut bought the default MS one for the 360.
I have the XL edition . Does that have the spa track ? Or the cars needed for the races that will be running on thursday? Oh yea what car will be used and can someone please help me tune . Please send FR. So we can do some practice runs.

From what I can tell, it includes Spa (look for Spa-Francorchamps).
This Thursday's car Craig has posted is the latest DLC car, however, in the spirit of not requiring DLC cars, any JGTC car will be allowed w/ the modifications listed (there are several including the Honda NSX, Nissan 350Z, Nissan Skyline GTR, Nissan GTR, Lexus SC430, Toyota Supra). We may impose a PP limit (adjustable w/ the engine ecu) if there is much dispairity between cars.
Someone else will have to help you w/ tunes, as I likely won't even set up the car (I've already got a couple of them, just need to add the parts) until I log in to join the room. This is just a casual drop in event for me. Let us know if you don't have the in game credits to purchase the car, one of us will be able to get you set up with the car.
Could some of you do me a favour and do a clean spa lap in the zonda (time trial) all assists, abs, recovery, stability etc set to off and post some times for me to aim for in the mean time?
Soups, you need to decide if you're sticking with soups or embracing InkaBodPain. I just gifted you this weeks car and Zero should be gifting Hairy one.
One of the beauties of Thursday night's is we all practise while we're racing so its a time saver really. Often we'll practise each race for 30 seconds or more so plenty of time for practise.
The first post of the Thursday night GT5 thread in the race events sub forum should answer all your questions about the format we run but all you need to do is show up and you have 96% of it figured out...Parcells likes things simple.
I'm not so good with the pad though, still trying, but I'm not doing well so far.
I'll practice practice practice as i don't want to spoil anyone elses race with bad driving etc.
I can't tune either :( I'm much happier if everyone has the exact same cars and same tune etc, at least that way I can lose and not blame a bad/glitched tune :D
Would anyone be so kind as to just post a time or a ghost of spa that I can use as a benchmark? Not knowing how far I am off the pace is a little confusing. If I'm 30seconds slower, it would be silly for me to join a race, if I'm 2 seconds slower, well, that's ok, at least I can practice more and maybe have fun with another newbie.
The reason I mentioned the zonda, is its the first car, spas the first track in time trial etc.. So it means I can just hit X continuously to get into the game quicker :) but any spa times will do, anyone :)
Don't think I ever took a Zonda around Spa which should be run anywhere between 2:10 - 2:30 depending on the car. If you want Hairy I could log on 20 minutes early this Thursday to run a few laps of Spa with you. Let me know.
Tried again today on the Zonda, all assists off and set to 0, grip level set to real, and all settings on simulation, best I could get was 2.28 on the pad. It's really difficult on the pad (well the ps3 pad) I much prefer the Xbox pad.
To not be humilitated and left/lapped on my own, how much will I need to shave off that? Its difficult keeping that consistent though, I'll struggle to get much faster on this dam pad.
What car is being used on Thursday, what time is probably expected with this car, I just don't want to wait up until 1am my time to be left 30seconds behind and/or lapped :( I'd rather practice off line, get better and then join in the fun with you lot (the more experienced) :D
The below link is the spreadsheet we use to build the weekly spec cars. The sheets are named by the dates they are being run (most recent dates to the far left) but Zero should be sending you this weeks car. Check your "gifts" under the community tab in GT5 to see if he sent you a Super GT car. If you do not have it 24 hours from now I can build and send you one tomorrow evening, let me know.
The spec races do not start until 9:00 EST so that is your 2 a.m. Prior to that (and I'll still log on 20 minutes early ~6:40 EST) we run shuffle races or pick a recommended car, neither of which you need to prepare for so you'll have plenty of time to figure out how far off you may be...we can run the spec car on Spa for our early practise.

Thanks for that, i sent you FR earlier today, it still says pending but I'll check again later to see if I have one from you :)
Ill also put ABS to 1 and leave everything else off.
@zero in this car/setup what times would be acceptable for someone to achieve (ball park) to at least be in the pack and not left all alone, also are these crs already setup (locked) to a specific spec, so I don't need to do anything like tune it... Just drive it safely round the track if I can :D

Don't worry about lap times or tuning. You will be competitive. We have no "fast" or "slow" guys like in the typical 2Old4Forza event, where there is a huge gap between the fast guys who have obviously figured out the physics and the set ups, and the rest of us. Tuning does not play a big role in GT5 and none of us are wildly faster than the rest. Indeed, parity is the rule, without regard to experience. I have probably the most time in GT5 of our group, yet I only occasionally win a race. Parcells is probably pound for pound our fastest guy, but he does not win every race and in fact, he often quits out because he sucks so bad.
HEY! I resent that Lawyer...I don't quit out because I suck so bad it's because you guys suck so bad and losing to such suckers is embarrasing so I take the high road

Cool. I will try them out. I felt that shaking on the straights so I'm definitely going to adjust my dead zone.
I sent both of you FR. I hope to jump on there soon with you guys.
