I do.  I will send you the Chryslyer Prowler tomorrow night.  Its one of my favorite cars in the game.  PD updated the cockpit for it, even though its a standard car.

Cheers Zero, you are a Saint :D

i love open cockpit type cars as I like the feeling of speed you get from them, these tiny windowed closed cockpits are great and look wonderful, however I feel that I lose the essence of speed somewhat, especially when hot lapping on certain tracks, which can cause me to under break now and again.

I really do wish this gen was over and we had more powerful systems to play with, Holding back his gen hasn't been fun for me, and with 12-18 months to go i might end up moving to pc gaming instead as i keep seeing these gorgeous pc sim videos and they look absolutely incredible, and means I can cancel my elite order nd replace it with a CSW.

One of my biggest annoyances with GT5 though is this forced career mode, I have a career in forza, dirt, f1 etc and to be honest I just want to have fun with GT5, its becoming a little to much like hard work, i just want to race all these fun premium cars round these wonderful tracks with a great bunch of guys. I really don't want to do a career, but unlike forza, it seems I have to, so I can get access to cars even in time trial mode :(

I checked YouTube and there are some tips on earning 500,000 credits in 5 minutes using the red bull, but you have to driver level 27, which I honestly can't be bothered to do... I play my forza career, and f1 career and dirt career, but as forza allows you to race any car on any track whenever you want (excluding dlc) it's much more fun and entertaining at times :)

Driving a standard fiat panda round an f1 track with my £1200 with of simulation gear (when it arrives) isn't my idea fun :-/

Does anyone know of any easy/fast ways to get all the premium cars unlocked so I can use them online with you guys, in arcade, TT and practice mode etc as I really can't be bothered starting another career ...

I just want to race online and have fun and unwind... Well... when fanatec finally me my stuff :D

Fastest ways I've found for me to make money are the seasonal races if I'm wanting to drive.  More money and more experience points compared to the standard season.  They are also generally less restrictive to the car you can drive...most are limited by only PP & tire selection.

If I'm home and want to make some money while I work on something else, I'll run B-spec.  It takes a little bit to get your driver off the ground.....they seldom start winning everything off the bat, and sometimes you may have to try switching to different cars for the drivers.

There are quite a few of us that have migrated that way.  If and when you do, check out the 2Old2Race Forums here at 2Old2Play.  http://www.2old2play.com/forums/divisions/2o2race

On second thought, maybe you shouldn't, if you value your wallet and time.  It's a vortex.  55  PC is where I spend most of my time now.  Though I do still like dropping in and racing with everyone here in GT5 & FM4.  We'll see what happens when the new xBox comes out and how much it costs.

Sherb is correct, the seasonals are the best way to get easy money, particularly the time trials.  I do them every other week, shortly after they come out.  This week's time trial netted me $500,000 for a couple of laps.  That being said, there is no replacement for slogging through the career mode.  You need the cars that come with winning the career mode events in order to ace the seasonal events.  Keep in mind that some of the seasonals, such as the Dream Car Championship, require expensive race cars.  You can do other seasonals to get the money for those cars, or you can complete the higher level career mode events which will in turn give you at least a couple of race cars.  I slogged through the career mode events early on and I am so glad I did, because once I finished them (well, I finished all except for the one 9 hour and two 24 hour races), I had an awesome base of cars and some serious coin to play with. Sherb also correctly highlights b-spec, where you can use highly powered cars to win most of the events without lifting a finger.  For every b-spec event you win, you get another car, some of which are quite good.

Anyway, just know that the grind is worth it.  Once you get it done, you can focus on the seasonals and online racing, and you will take comfort in knowing that you have a garage that is full of cars that are waiting for you to play with.

Lawyer, sent you a car in return. A Race Modified '69 Camaro. I adjusted the transmission settings a little to give it more top speed. Let me know what you think. Oh, and I painted it but couldn't put your number on it. Game doesn't let us use zero.

Fun car.  I've built one of those myself.

Bookmarked that link thanks Sherb :)

3 very wise posts there, thanks guys, ill try those methods out... I'm just getting stressed out tbh. Fanatec are taking a horrific time to send my products (but seemed happy to take my money right away)

I love realism in games (sound and gfx particularly) and am willing to sacrifice a little physics for these ... all the P.Cars videos are making me so envious. Stunning realism (gfx / sound wise) where as I'm sat here using a £5000 9.2 home theatre 55" 3D screen listening to the hovers from GT5 and having poor screen tearing issues and frame stutters on the 7yo ps3 :( it's insane to think that my 7yo children went even born when these consoles came out :-0

i hate driving with a pad, I just want to escape and have some fun.

The pc seems to offer that, pick any car you want, any track you want and do what ever you want... That's what I want. If I get a few hours off work, I don't want to "work" for these low end cars... I want to jump into my cockpit, turn up the volume and loose my self at spa with a retro open cockpit race car or a DTM car etc mnot drive at 87mph in a standard ford saloon? I want to have 2 hours o complete and utter "wow" as I have fun driving these incredible cars, not 2 hours of sluggin it out in a focus or Nissan silva, I do that every day on the way to work :-/

i like GT5, I'm new to it as I came from forza, but I hate being forced to do things, and it's saying to me "you can't have fun with me, until you drive all these shitty cars, drive all these shitty races, then I'll give you another shitty car to go do more shitty races with" ... After a hard days work, I want to take my dream car, at full speed around a track I adore. If I joined the GT scene at launch like I did with forza it would be a different story, but I am so late to the game now that a  career is not what I want from it, I want fun fun fun :)

Ill see how much I can do in my spare time, but I will never understand why thy didn't do what forza did and give users a career mode AND a "do what you want" mode. I haven't done much n my forza carrer either, but mainly because I just love driving and learning cars, tracks, having fun and doing the career when I want, because I want to, not because I have to.

Im just in a bad mood today I think, maybe I'm having a man period or something.

I just want a more powerful console NOW, I want a proper sim style game for the console NOW (with open cockpit/DTM/Classics etc), i want my sim rig delivered NOW and I want it all NOW :D

Gonna spec up a pc tomorrow, anyone know what card will do P.Cars etc at ultra settings 1080p 60fps and should I wait for my elite, or cancel it before it arrives and change it for a CSW instead? Hmmm what to do?

I have to agree with a lot of what you say. I like GT5 and Forza 4 but I can't wait to see Project CARS when it's finally done. I'll be ordering a new MB for my PC after the Holidays and getting into PCARS and GTR2 ( for the PnG mod). You'll be racing those too before you know it. :-)

I have thought about the CSW too but I think I will wait for V2. Just in case it ends up having any major issues.

I agree that PC sim racing is the top of the mountain, but its not perfect and it suffers from many of the same hassles as the consoles.  For example, last night I was participating in an awesome 100 lap oval race in the VHR rFactor mod, hosted by Gone Broke Racing, and about lap 50 my computer froze up and I got a blue screen of death.  Keep in mind I have a top end PC with all new (less than two years old) parts.  Its probably an isolated incident, but it will probably happen again at some point.  Like most other Xbox owners, I have had freezes with that console as well, even with my brand new Xbox that I got just a few months ago.

The bottomline is that nothing is perfect.  Moreover, even though I have access to all of the best PC sim racers, including iRacing, Project CARS and rFactor 2, I still come back to Forza and GT5 regularly.

With regard to the Elite and the CSW, I think Fanatec released both wheels too early, before they could be sufficiently tested, but my view is that they are on top of that wheel design (both have similar internal components) and that the major bugs have been worked out.  I am on my third Elite since December, the first two having suffered from burnt out motors, but the third one has performed very well and the new firmware Fanatec released works quite well.  Fanatec's customer service has been good and they have taken care of me.

Hey Snappy,

Ohh, ive not seen GTR2 but I'll have a peek now :)

I love my consoles, I really do, but itll be nearly 10 years when this generation eventually ends! 10 years, a decade! Can you remeber what you were going 10 years ago and how different you and your life was.

i had no kids and didn't even live in this part of the country and wasn't dating my fiancée! I never even had a touch screen phone and 3D TV and cinemas were a pipe dream :D

It all just came over me yesterday when I came home and wanted to just thrash a car I could never own round a track i will never be able to visit, with ultra realism. Instead, I was offered a tstandard ugly low powered  (awful soundig) fiat that drove like a welly, at between 30mph and 80mph which was not enjoyable at all, so I rage quite it and thought why!? Where's the fun/escapism in this? Why are they making me do this? I only get a few hours a week to myself (wife/kids/work) and have 6 careers in other games on the go... I have no time ofr a seventh, but I would love to play the game and have fun ith some other great people. But bizarrely the game restricts me from doing so.

I beeline project cars is getting a beating on it's physics engine, but so did GT 5 when it was released, I'm sure that the guys at SMS will give us plenty of options are aregonna iron all tht out in beta stage, alpha stage aesthetics, beta code/physics and then bug testing. I think this game (being on all platforms) will be a complete game changer. It looks incredible. There is a video of an old jag formula style car, and old caterham formula style cars plus the classic senna era cars and it looks like such a joy to be blasting those cars round spa at such speeds with such incredible sounds and visuals. It's everything I want to do with a game. I hope they finish it early :D

Im gonna build a reasonable pc, jut powerful enought for cars at 1080p on full gfx. Ill put it in a micro atx case (Xbox size) and use it only for sims. Im pretty sure I can do it for less than £500 which should tide me over for a little longer. I'll stick with my elite too I suppose, as you are right, at least it's had a year of issues resolved, where as club sport it still young. Plus the console support is a good idea for the long run.

I just hope fanatec get me some equipment before Xmas, they must be back logged or lost my order or something as its taken ages, I expected it last month? I really wanted to join you all over the Xmas holidays for a blast, but with the pad is jut a laborious boring task for me as it has essentially no feeling or realism what so ever, moving my thumbs every few minutes is fine at first, but then I get bored fast! On my 360 I have those wireless speed wheels, as as rubbish as they are, they do offer a step up from the pad, as you are at least interacting with the track in some (albeit a little) way.

Hopefully Sony/Microsoft will surprise us with a new uber console at Xmas and project cars I'll be finished next week ;) now tht would be a nice Xmas present :)

in the mean time, if any one has any premium style cars, open cockpit style cars, convertible style crs, DTM style cars, rally chyle cars etc etc tht thy don't want, need or care about anymore, please feel free to donate them over to a grumpy, moody, unhappy moaning old fart who will happily thrash the pants off them and have super fun in them over the holidays :) absolutely any thing is welcomed. Anything to build up my garage without hving to do all that shiity career mode... I remember when issues like this were easily resolved by simply pressing UP/Down/Left/Right A.B.C Start on the sonic Intro screen, or the hidden warp zones in mario...life was so much easier back then ... ahhh the good ole days :D

@Hairy - Parcells can certainly relate to the frustration that is the GT5 career mode, the worse racing grind I've seen in any game ever. However, like others have said the seasonal events is your best choice for acquiring cash to purchase the cars you want. Getting to level 25 can happen very fast.

In the interim if there are any premium cars you want (under a million else we cannot gift) list them here (OR in the official GT5 thread be better) and I'm sure between the pool of us with ample cash can gift them to you. In other words if you can tell me exactly which premium car has an open cockpit and it's under one million I'll gift it to you.

Also I just shared my precious open cockpit Caterham (standerd car which I might not be able to find again so too precious to gift :)). I've never shared cars before nor have I used shared cars so not really sure how this works but my guess your garage will have a new tab called "On-line" where you can find Parcells shared cars to drive as you see fit.

Wasn't gonna bother with a spec car this week Inka but if you want one just say the word and I'll regurgitate a previously run spec car. May not be as nice as the Peugot (that car had some very nice qualities, not too fast but enough oomph) but I recall the RX-7 was a beauty too. Take a look at the previous run cars if there's any you like we can run it.

yeah or neah BUT we must decide before 7:00 EST tonight.
