I watch that video clip and see tire wear, fog hanging over the village area and headlights that are on. Looks promising.
That announcer calls all the ALMS races and the FiA's World Endurance Championship races. Don't know what it means for the game but maybe it hints at keeping the focus on "Motorsport".
For Fanatec wheel users does not look good for the wheel or or any other wireless accessories used on Xbox360. The new system uses WIFI Direct to communicate with its wireless controller.
Editor’s Note: Today is an exciting day for Xbox. This morning we shared our vision for a new generation of games, TV and entertainment. We wanted to address some top questions we’ve seen from our fans, so here we go.
Q: Does Xbox One require an “always on” Internet connection? A: No, it does not have to be always connected, but Xbox One does require a connection to the Internet. We’re designing Xbox One to be your all-in-one entertainment system that is connected to the cloud and always ready. We are also designing it so you can play games and watch Blu-ray movies and live TV if you lose your connection.
Q: How do consumers benefit by being connected to the cloud? A: The cloud makes every experience better and more accessible. Because Xbox One is powered by the cloud:
Your games have more power available to create new gameplay, persistent worlds, and deeper experiences.
Your system and games can update automatically, so you shouldn’t have to wait for downloads or updates.
Your games and entertainment are stored and saved in the cloud, so you can access them anytime, from any Xbox One.*
Start a game, movie, or TV show on one console and finish exactly where you left off on another.
You can play multiplayer games with your friends, stream movies or TV shows right away, and enjoy the community and social features of Xbox Live.
Xbox One can recognize you, log you in and tailor your home screen just for you.
You can discover what your friends are playing, watching and listening to if they choose to share. These are just a few examples of how customers benefit from our platform being connected to the Internet. It brings the future of TV and games to our consumers—and it’s designed for today and the decade ahead.
* Subject to content geographical restrictions.
Q: When will Xbox One launch and in what markets? A: Xbox One will launch in markets around the world later this year. We’ll have more to share later.
Q: Can I use my current gamertag on Xbox One and will my Gamerscore and Achievements transfer? A: Yes. Your current Xbox Live Gamertag will stay with you on Xbox One if you choose to keep it, and your hard-earned Gamerscore and Achievements will indeed carry over from Xbox 360.
Q: Will Xbox One be backward compatible with my existing games? A: Xbox One hardware is not compatible with Xbox 360 games. We designed Xbox One to play an entirely new generation of games—games that are architected to take full advantage of state-of-the-art processors and the infinite power of the cloud. We care very much about the investment you have made in Xbox 360 and will continue to support it with a pipeline of new games and new apps well into the future.
Q: Will Xbox One allow players to trade in, purchase and play pre-owned games? A: We are designing Xbox One to enable customers to trade in and resell games. We’ll have more details to share later.
Q: Will my current Xbox Live Gold membership work with Xbox One or will I have to buy a new one? A: You do not need to buy a new Xbox Live Gold membership. Your current membership will work on both Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
Q: Why require Kinect with every Xbox One? A: The all new Kinect is now an essential and integrated part of the platform. By having it as a consistent part of every Xbox One, game and entertainment creators can build experiences that assume the availability of voice, gesture and natural sensing, leading to unrivaled ease of use, premium experiences and interactivity for you.
Q: Do I need to have a specific cable or satellite TV provider to watch live TV on Xbox? A: Our goal is to enable live TV through Xbox One in every way that it is delivered throughout the world, whether that’s television service providers, over the air or over the Internet, or HDMI-in via a set top box (as is the case with many providers in the US). The delivery of TV is complex and we are working through the many technologies and policies around the world to make live TV available where Xbox One is available.
Q: Xbox One is a more powerful product compared to Xbox 360, but does it also use more power? A: No. By providing multiple power states in Xbox One, we’ve balanced energy efficiency with functionality. We’ve taken a completely different approach to how Xbox One consumes power. It only uses the power it needs at that particular moment for the task at hand.
"USB 3.0 was released in November 2008. The standard defines a new "SuperSpeed" mode with a signalling speed of 5 Gbit/s and a usable data rate of up to 4 Gbit/s. USB 3.0 reduces the time required for data transmission, thereby reducing power consumption, and is backwards compatible with USB 2.0."
Power cord---HDMi out --Optical---HDMI in---2xUSB3.0 (additional 1xUSB3.0 on right side panel) ---Kinect----Maybe a 12volt trigger (to automatically turn on device)---ethernet
I won't be getting this - paying to unlock pre-owned, mandatory kinect (therefore probably higher price for something I don't want), checking up on whether you're connected or not, I'm out.
Now that Xbox One has been announced, will my CSR Wheel and pedals work with the new console and FM5?
Fanatec's response:
Hello James,
thanks for your message.
Unfortunately we can't give you any information regarding the compatibility because there is no information besides Microsoft. As soon as we have the information about the compatibility we will post it on our facebook site and on our block www.911wheel.com.

Sounds Like PURE BS!!!...What Happened to being the Racing Wheel of Forza???
On th other hand, I'm imagining all the wheel users on pads with me...I might win one or two until they adapt...
Sorry but I couldn't resist...you do know it is a hell of a lot easier to lose control of a car driving with a wheel vs. a controller right? Sure the wheel users have better finite input but we pay drastically for it if the input is not what it needs to be whereas controller users have an inherent "buffer zone" where the system will make corrections for you if your input is not what it needs to be.
I actually prefer a wired connection. Fanatec's wireless connection for me was a crapshoot at best. I actually gave up using the wheel on the xBox after taking out too many people because the wheel disconnected. It has to this day never disconnected while using a wired connection to the PS3 or PC.
That said, not impressed with the requirement of Kinect. More crap I don't have room for in my entertainment center and crap I don't want to use. Jury is out on if/when I purchase. I definitely won't be a Day 1 purchase guy though.....Got a race planned at Petit Lemans I still need to get my airline tickets for!
Makes me lol when I see people say I'm out on the no second hand thing as Microsoft themselfs have confirmed there will be second hand games ect.
I only play Forza do it won't affect me anyway but if people don't buy the X1 due to second hand games what will they buy?
ps4 will go the exact same way, there is no second hand game market for the PC already and never been one for the Android and ipad apps.

Let it go Church you'll give yourself an ulcer, personally I'm screwed there is no way the Microsoft wheel will work with the new console and I can't go back to using a controller. Microsoft might bring out a new wheel but how much will it cost? Add that to the price of the console and the obligatory Limited Edition of Forza 5 and I'm looking at a remortgage and possible divorce. Not a happy Fitzy.
Simmer down Fitzy. Parcells will race with you on FM4 for years after FM5 comes out if that what it takes to support the team!!! Dont you worry buddy!
That said, you're probably right, I'm confident the Fanatec wheels will work (if not immediately shortly thereafter via software update or something) but the MS wheel is probaly toast.
There has also been talk about weather and Forza
Some good stuff coming through now.
The 500gig HDD is not removable. As the X1 is usb3 compatible you can extend the memory using any usb3 external HDD
The second hand game fee is been classed as pants by MS. There is talk however of trading games player to player and cutting out the middle man??
Looks like the P1 driver's helmet has a red stripe down the middle. Customizable helmets?

USB is the best hope for Fanatec Wheels.
^^^Say it aint so....
XboxOne will be using USB 3.0.

Nice to know it wont use more power eh
USB 3 is Back compact with USB 2
A few ports back there:
The ports I see in pic from left to right:
Power cord---HDMi out --Optical---HDMI in---2xUSB3.0 (additional 1xUSB3.0 on right side panel) ---Kinect----Maybe a 12volt trigger (to automatically turn on device)---ethernet
I guess my purchase of Tritton Warhead headphones will be a very bad deal for me
Looks like Fm5 is going to be expensive this year...

Sounds Like PURE BS!!!...What Happened to being the Racing Wheel of Forza???
If the USB is 2.0 on the wheel, the 3.0 should be backward compatible, Then the next hurdle is the software...
On th other hand, I'm imagining all the wheel users on pads with me...I might win one or two until they adapt...
Seriously, it's a big friggin " up in the air" moment.

Does Basher have an opinion? He could take an educated guess.
Unlike the frequent flyer and resident expert I'm trading posts with over at FM.net.

Can't wait to find out what the "VIP Bundle" and season passes and DLC are going to add up to. Wish I could write some of this off. Lol
