you can say "i don't care if it's better, blah blah" but it doesn't matter.  It's coming with the system and you need to deal with it or just don't buy one.  I guarantee the majority will just deal with it.  And eventually they'll find they like using it in ways that tailor to them, after they're done throwing their fit about never wanting to use it.

Honestly I've used a kinect once, ever.  I'd never buy the original one because I had a choice and it wasn't ready yet.  Kinect 2.0 seems ready to be what they envisioned and the system was built around it rather than adding it on 6 years after the system was created like Kinect 1.0.  Also, we have no choice.  Which in life is sometimes the best thing, whether you think so or not.

It didn't affect ANYTHING.  Like I've said I've only used one once, and all games that I bought since it released have either not used it or used it as an enhancement feature.  It's not a negative, only a positive.  The new one seems like it really enhances the interface a lot, and will also be actually programmed for since it is part of the system innately.

What country do you live in? No choice is the best thing?

Okay, I refuse to argue with sheeple and Microcheerleaders.

If the Kinect2.0 were a volutary choice, it'd die a quick death based on nothing more than it's previous models performance.

Certainly it's glowing reputation by one person that only ever used it once and thinks not having a choice is best would win everyone over! You should contact Microsoft and voluteer your services to their PR department.

what you're saying is, i'm not allowed to have an opinion.  Either that, or if my opinion is pro-X1, I'm a fanboy.  Because.....?  that part hasn't been made clear.

I think I'm in a pretty unique position to be objective about this, since I've barely even set hands on the original Kinect, let alone the K2.0.

In this instance, I agree with the pack-in and that no choice on it is good for the system currently.  Because if it's a choice, no one develops for it and it dies - and I don't think it's good that it dies, because it's good tech and needs to be nurtured.  Things are going this direction and I think it's good that at least one of the big three is embracing it.

Also, "what country I live in" has nothing to do with anything.  You have a choice - you can choose to buy one, or not to buy one.  That's your choice.  Being part of the decision about what parts are included in a company's product is not something you get to choose.

It's not going to be an "next Dreamcast" - we're past that now.  It's MS/Sony/Nintendo and that's not changing for a long while.  Gaming is huge now, much bigger than in 1999, and none of the systems are going anywhere.

Right here you're either deliberately ignoringmy point or you're flat not able to figure it out.

"I think I'm in a pretty unique position to be objective about this, since I've barely even set hands on the original Kinect, let alone the K2.0."

My point is BECAUSE of prior experience BY people with the first Kinect, it would never be viable on it's own going forward. If you not listening to the conversation qualifies you as objective, umm, okay. But I think it's something else.

I'm done. I'm argiung with an unarmed man, or someone deliberately ignoring the other side of the arguement, either way, done. You go ahead and get the last word now, if that makkes you feel better. I don't need to. Done. Outcast and I are gonna go find a beer....

My best friend DOES have prior experience and he loves his Kinect 1.0.  He uses it constantly, mostly for voice commands.  He loves it so much he wouldn't even let me borrow it to give it a shot for a week.  So don't think you have the only opinion on usage.

I have no doubt that gaming is much larger now than in the late 90's. I just hope my money is well spent.

So the kinect is like butt sex in prison.  Certainly explains a lot.

There are so many variables and unknowns with these new consoles, can we not just have a place to share information civilly so we can all make our own informed decisions?  Does it really have to denegrate into petty argueing every time?

Let's start again.

I presume my xboxlive subscription will carry over seemlessly to xboxone. Is this confirmed?

That is their intention, yes. In fact it will exist simultaneously on both consoles as one subscription/price.

Right, but I thought they had said that you would need to re-download each time you log in? Like I'm playing the X1 one week and then the 360, but before I log onto the 360 I'm gonna have to migrate it back... maybe I misread that.

I haven't seen that. Doesn't mean it didn't happen, just haven't seen it. I would hope account migration wouldn't be required, but I don't know.

No.  They've said you can be logged into both simultaneously.  Which I assume is because there isn't cross platform play or chat.

Siri works great for me.  I don't use it that much though, since I'm usually in public.

A friend of mine hates the CURRENT kinect's voice thingy. She keeps it unplugged, because if you say "Xbox" in a conversation, it turns on the Xbox, etc. I can't remember what her other complaints were, but they were similar: it does shit she doesn't want it to do, because its picking up words in random conversation.

why would you say Xbox in a conversation in your living room?  But even so, pretty sure you have to say "Xbox" and then "On" to turn it on.

lol! You DON'T have conversations about Xbox? That's just weird! (Yeah you're right..it's Xbox and on in the same sentence or two)

My fear is, I'll be playing halo but talking about a movie I saw on Netflix, and it will hear "Netflix" and try to dump the game and open 'flix.

I'm also afraid of change, and I'm pretty sure this is bringing us one step closer to cylons, so my opinion on the kinect voice commands should be treated as tin foil hat wearing craziness lol!!

Haha.  I believe they spoke about these concerns.  One of which being other people saying commands to screw your experience up - but I guess it only responds to your voice, and also you have time to cancel a command.  Plus, with snapping your game isn't actually closed, it's just suspended.

Oh, sure....women SAY they want someone to listen to them.  But as soon as MS creates something that does it...they complain!

I'll be getting the X1 from Amazon on 11/22, but 11/23-24 is our baby shower by my sister in law out of town.  That is going to be the longest weekend ever.....

Luckily Zelda: ALTTP 2 comes out on 3DS on 11/22 as well, so I'll have something to play on the trip.
