Quotes

Dissent is what rescues democracy from a quiet death behind closed doors.
-Lewis H. Lapham, editor (1935- )

No man is justified in doing evil on the ground of expediency.
-Franklin D. Roosevelt, 32nd US President (1882-1945)

When you think of the long and gloomy history of man, you will find more hideous crimes have been committed in the name of obedience than have ever been committed in the name of rebellion.

New, New, New

Last year we bought a Panasonic DVD camcorder that turned out to be a POS. The problem is that if it's actually able to record a full disc's worth of footage and finalize it, we can't make copies of the DVD because of data errors. Sometimes everything we recorded was lost. It's really upsetting because the stuff we lost were some great moments with our son like him walking for the first time, eating his first birthday cake, him dancing, scooting, etc. I'd say that 3 out of every 8 discs we made are now coasters.

The Weekend, Finally

I'm sooooooooooo glad this week is over.  I'm looking forward to sleeping in tomorrow, watching some football, mowing my lawn, and playing around with Adobe After Effects.  I downloaded the trial version because I want to test the program out and see if I can learn to do all the cool shit that Bioslayer does.  I'm also going to render a few more gameplays and upload those.  If you don't like my game plays, you can suck it.

Status and Gameplay

I feel like things are returning back to normal. I picked up my Escape after work yesterday. The shop did an excellent job repairing the damage from the accident to the back left of the car. They even cleaned it for me, which saves me a couple of hours this Saturday. My son's eye infection is completely gone and the tinitus in my right ear has become more tolerable, although I'm still going to see an otolaryngologist next week. Oh, and my laptop is basically working with the exception of it not recognizing my wireless card.

Schools Ban

School bans tag, other chase games

So I read the above article about how some school administrators across the country are banning some play activities like dodgeball, tag, and touch football fearing that children might get injured and their school could be held liable. Then I read this gem:

Right Eye Hurts Today

For some reason, I woke up at 2am and my right eye hurt like all bloody hell.  I think I was rubbing it in my sleep and scratched it or something.  It was one of those moments where you're not really awake but you know something hurts like fuck.  Took me about 10 minutes to realize something was wrong.  I got up, went to the bathroom, asked God, "Why???", rinsed it out, and eventually decided the pain wasn't going to subside.  Luckily I was able to fall back asleep.  When I woke up at around 6am, it didn't hurt nearly as bad but still stings.  WTF?

Halo CE Saturday Morning

I got approval from the general to log onto XBC tomorrow morning and play some real Halo.  I will be timing.  I will use backpack reload.  I will fire a few bursts and switch weapons after grabbing cammo to speed it up.  I'll even nade rocks to myself from most positions on the map (yes, all of them).  At least, that's what I used to do.  Now I just hope I'll be able to shoot and hit my target.  Ha!

EDIT: It now are fixed.  I also had to add a regular expression to filter out other files, but that was easy.

New Online Space

I am now the proud owner of 100 GB of web space and 1 terabyte of bandwidth per month!  I launched biorod.net (there's nothing there, so this isn't a plug) to hold my vids and such.  I tested a FFA vid and the download speed was about 1.5 MBps, which is excellent!  The cost was less than $1 more than my Box.net account, and that only gave me 5 GB space and 20 GB of bandwidth.  Pffft!  Bye Box.net, it was nice knowing you.
