Next Gen Edutainment

My wife and I are in the process of adopting. He is a kid from Russia. I can't wait to get him.

I also told my wife I have no desire to have him get into videogames. I work at a church and about 75% of the kids I know who are into video games are not normal. They are slow thinkers, and they can't adapt to new ideas as fast as other kids.

rpg's and me

I love RPG's.  I must buy them.  I must play them.

I never get to finish them.

Why?

Final Fantasy VII: I got to the bottom of a cryo chamber, and on the trip out I encounter a dragon.  My guys are so beat up they can't get past them.  Only one save so I can't just go back a bit.  File is long gone by now anyway :(

Story Telling Done Right

So I am playing Lair last night. I am about 70% thru the game. I am not really enjoying myself. Why is this?

Great Graphics? check
Fun Controls? check (yes, I like them)
Cool New Things To Do? check
Good Story? nope

I am falling out of favor with the game because of the terrible story. The character dialog is predictable. It is boring. It is probably read by the developers friend and written by the lead programmer.

Tv is sort of over in my house

Over a year ago my wife and I canceled cable.  What we did was say we would fall back to the antenna and use netflix.  Unfortunately the whole antenna thing never worked.  For some reason we can't get any signal.  Not even radio.  Not even with a powered outside antenna or powered indoor antenna.

Whatever.

8 Bit Memories

So I was reading another blog by CaptJB about looking back at old games and it got me thinking.  I have done a ton cool stuff that new games might not get to do again for a long time.  Most of my favorite franchise stuff went away, never to return.  I thought I would take a look back at some of my favorite things I have done in video games.  Feel free to post your own.  I will probably try to keep this updated as I think of more in the future:

this post will be 8-bit memories:
