Welcome to Balek's house.  Why?  Because my eldest son was just diagnosed with H1N1. 

High fever, chills, aches...typical flu symptoms.  Now granted, they didn't run a culture as they've stopped doing that due to the sheer volume that the state labs can't handle.  He isn't in a high risk category, so all we get is keep fluids running, lots of sleep, and Ibuprofin.

Funny that nobody wanted to sit with me at lunch...

Today my wife and daughter headed down to my sister's place outside Washington, D.C. as part of my daughter's 12th birthday present. This evening - in a few short hours - they will be taking in Cavalia.

Picture it...you're at the ballgame. Not only that, it's a gorgeous night, and you have your little girl along to start her along a path of loving baseball and giving you an excuse to watch every game on television ("No really honey, I'm watching it for HER!"). The game is going well, and then in the fifth inning to your shock and awe, a fly ball finds its way up towards you. You reach out over the railing, and make a stunning bare handed grab! You throw your hands up, elated, give a few strangers the 'ol knuckle-punch.

...but somehow I think November will be here sooner than we think.  It's going to be a good holiday season, that is for sure.
