Going MAD

When I was a kid I can remember going out into the garage to explore.  My parents had one of those garages that were used for storage more then housing a car.  There was all kinds of cool stuff out there to discover, not the least of which was a giant box of matches I once found.  I remember starting a few small fires in the ditch behind our house and one burning just a little bigger then I had planned.   It's amazing what the fear of a good spanking will do to crush the desires of a 7 year old.  At that point my pyromania were pretty much extinguished.

Finding the Perfect Gift

I have one of those Dads.  You know, the guy who has "everything".  If not everything, he at least has anything that he actually wants.  It makes this time of year a real challenge for me as I hit the malls and shops looking for that perfect gift.  He's one of those guys who doesn't really drink, so the Beer-of-the-Month club is out.  He's not a golfer, bowler or card player.  He doesn't fish or hunt.  In fact, he has no real disernable hobbies to speak of at all.  He basically enjoys going to work everyday, coming home to watch a little TV before bed and then repeat that process the

Christmas Time

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… That is, if you like bickering, political wrangling, cries of offense and claims of persecution. That’s right folks, we’ve come once again to that time of year when atheist’s look to purge the holidays of any semblance of religious value and Christians cry out for justice in the midst of secular intrusion into their views of Christmas. It seems that particularly in the last 5 years or so the drum beats on both sides have gotten louder and louder. It’s almost to the point that I look more forward to the holidays being over, rather than beginning.

America's Divorce

Watch any news at all and you can't help but see and hear the drum beats of the next Presidential race begin to ramp up.  As we get closer we see some of the politeness pushed aside for more "aggressive" campaigning.  I was thinking about how much I don't look forward to the next 12 months when it occurred to me...I've been caught in the middle of a divorce.  Again.

All I Want for Christmas

My wife and I are what is refered to in some circles as DINKs (Dual Income, No Kids).  One of the great benefits is that we are able to pretty much purchase whatever toys we want when we want them.  Now, that's not to say I have infinite income to just drop 2 grand on a new TV every month, but at this point we've pretty much been able to convert all of our main televisions to HD and HD DVRs.  We are fortunate enough to be able to get most any game that we want on release day.  If I need a new pair of jeans or a she sees a cool T-shirt she likes, we can get them right away.  I'm not trying to b
