Getting Old

I was talking to my mother on the phone the other day when the question of how old I am came up. It didn’t really occur to me what my age was, I don’t really keep track. In fact I don’t really keep track of any of my friends or family’s ages. I can remember certain birthdays but almost never birth years. I have no idea how old my mother or father are. I know my brother is two years younger than me, my uncle is 3 years younger than my dad and my best friend is one year younger than I am. I have no idea how that translates to an actual age though.

The Wheels On The Bus Go Round and Round

On my way into work today I passed a SUV that had a half dozen kids of so in it, one of whom parents were taking them to school. A moment later I came to an intersection where a couple of dozen school buses pass by every morning. It got me thinking. Do we really need school buses anymore?

Tell Me You Love Me

I'm a big fan of HBO original programming.  I'd say that roughly 90% of the shows they have produced in the last 7 years, I've watched loyally.  In fact I've been a huge fan of  programs like Deadwood, Rome, Big Love, The Wire and Six Feet Under (the Sopranos too, but it's too obvious to mention).  Lately though there seems to be some stumbling at the HBO programming offices.  John from Cincinnati was a train wreck of a show that fortunately has already been cancelled.  Flight of the Concords, while I think is pretty funny, is decidedly hit or miss with audiences and Lucky Louie never seemed t

Thanks

Sometimes it's nice to know that there are those within this community who are willing to go out of their way to help out fellow members.  It's strange that I have better relationships within this community then I do in the actual community I live in.  Regardless, I'm glad I'm here and just one more reason to be glad came to the forefront again last night.

What's in a name?

I recently finished Bioshock. I had rented the game from Gamefly wanting to see what all the hype was about. Knowing that I didn’t really want to keep the game I decided to just play through it on “easy” mode. I tend to do that with games I’d like to see or try but don’t have any great interest in. Why suffer through a “super extreme you must be out of you mind to try this difficulty” setting for a game that I don’t intend to keep for very long. It got me thinking though. Why can’t more games name their difficulty settings the way Gears of War did?
