That Sucks

Well I was having a pretty good day until I woke up this morning.  Oldest boy had his first day of kindergarten.  His poor mom has been dreading this day all summer.  The bad part is she teaches at the school he is attending so I really didn't see the big deal, until this morning.  It sorta upset me also.  Little guy is growing up.  So I spent the rest of the day wondering how he was doing.  I was wondering is he fitting in.  I was wondering how his mom was handling it.  I was wondering if I was going to be turning around and he was going to be in high school with me.  I don't want them to gro

Showing Cows and Surround Sound Headphones

What do the two of those have to do with each other?  Nothing really.  Just wanted to tell you a little about each.  My little boys show cows in local fairs.  Most of you are saying, huh?  I use to say the same thing.  Growing up, I went to the fair and we rode the rides and went home.  My wife grew up going to the fair and never riding rides.  She would also go to 6-7 fairs a year.  She grew up showing sheep and cows.  Now I am not a city boy.  I grew up hunting a fishing but cow showing I had never heard of.  My wife and her brother lived on a small farm and showing animals at fairs was part

Camping Trip

A lady I work withand her husband (just joined the site here and goes by Skydog) have a house on a river and has been on me since about April to bring my boys down and camp for the night.  I use to love camping but lets just say that times have changed.  Her and my wife and my friends wife finally talked us into actually camping.  Last night was the big night.  My two little boys and I and my friend and his little boy went camping.  I had gone and set up the tent on Thursday night.  We loaded up our sleeping bags and goodies and headed for the river.  The boys had a great time.  They had broug

This Sucks

After being off work for the past two months, I have to go back today.  One of the best perks of being a teacher is the time off in the summer.  Usually I am ready to go back by now but for some reason, I am not this year.  Not sure why.  I honestly think a big part is Xbox Live and this site.  After discovering both, they have become a big part of my life.  Not very many days and/or nights went by this summer that I wasn't online playing with some of you.  It has helped me to unwind.  I don't have near the stress that I use to have.  I guess I know that going back to work means that I will no

Inservice

As a teacher, I must go to inservices each summer to make me a better teacher.  Todays inservice was spent touring two of the local industries in my small town.  The first makes rubber automotive parts.  Here we toured the plant.  Didn't seem like a bad place to work.  After lunch we toured a Wal-Mart distribution center.  Again doesn't seem a bad place to work.  Most of the employees have a high school diploma or a ged.  I guess what disturbs me is the kind of money these people were making.  I was always raised to get the most education  that I could.  I was always told that people with more
